The hotel's food and beverages are fantastic (pictured), the breakfast is very rich, and the Chinese buffet is also the same (the RMB is close to two hundred). The service was very considerate. One night before check-out, the front desk called the room to get information about the flight. When I knew that it was a flight at 5 pm, I immediately indicated that I could extend the check-out time to half past two. Every time I go out, the staff of the Concierge will use the uber to call the car, and I will not bother. The room cleaning was also very careful. Next time, I will choose to live. The downside is that the market on both sides of the door is too embarrassing, and I can't go out for a walk at night, but the hotel is soundproof, and entering the iron gate is another quiet world. Also, the toilet flushes and needs strength. In addition, perfect.SOLD OUT

Except for dyed grandpa at the reception with an ego of a size you may call not quite ok in the hospitality business and quite preoccupied, but still an interesting guy to talk to a lengthy monologue into his deaf ears who then responds by wielding a trick on how to insult a better person in a subtle ***ner. Five star quality room. Just be careful on the street as a fast and furious car chasing its own tail pipe occurred as I was advising a very strange uber driver. Honestly speaking, the hotel was great. The location was a bit far from the airport, BUT it is located at one of the cleanest places in Kolkata, making it a huge plus. Now for the details:
Room: 5/5. The decoration, the ambiance, the wall art.
Lobby and other places: 5/5. Absolutely loved the design and hotel architecture.
Bathroom: 3.5/5. Honestly, it is a basic bathroom, but I expected more from a 5 star hotel, even on the cheaper rooms. There was no bathtub, which I feel is fairly common everywhere I’ve stayed in.
ONE PROBLEM: A major issue I have faced was after turning on the water. It had a smell, which I am guessing is from the river beside it. I feel like the Hotel should add a water filter to avoid this problem, because the smell doesn’t go away until the water is turned on for at least 5-10minutes. If I wasn’t South Asian, I probably couldn’t have taken the smell as easily as I did. I would put this in High Priority to fix for attracting many more customers.
Bar and Food: 4/5. Good collection, great taste but very expensive.
Lastly, a shoutout to Al Jabbar and Al Sahid from the Housecleaning service, they were extremely polite, fast, very thorough with their cleaning and very well mannered. Absolutely a delight to talk to and learn about the local areas.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Very rare to find such good hotels, with some minor flaws.From€20

We booked a night here at the Holiday Inn Kolkata hotel. I have stayed in Holiday Inn chennai as well. However, the standards of cleanliness and amenities and the room, the bathroom fittings and floor were low and some areas felt unsanitized as well. The floor in the room also lacked cleanliness.
They also had a torn bedsheet on our bed which I asked them to remove and they very quickly and diligently changed it. However, I was disappointed since the finishing checks if the room is in good condition for the next guest needs improvement.
The walls lacked lustre. And we paid approximately 62 EUR. Maybe they need to check the standards of other Holiday Inns like in Chennai.
Food that we ordered was nice. 10/10 on that.
But somehow the brand that Holiday Inn is and that we experienced in Kolkata was a huge mismatch.

The towel rack and safe in the bathroom were positioned too high, making them completely out of reach for a petite person like me.
The next day, I asked them to place the towels where I could reach them, but I never used the safe.
The chair was also too high and couldn't be adjusted, making it difficult to sit on and dangerous, so I never used it.
I arrived late at night and had the wrong date, so there was no reservation for the day I arrived.
The female staff member who dealt with me was unfriendly and rude.

our stay in VISITEL was very good. The service of carrying our luggage trolleys from the room upto our vehicle could also have been provided. The house keeping staff just stand in front of the room door and wait for checking the room but don't help in taking out the trolleys and putting them inside the lift. She does not even change the pillow covers even after being reminded again and again. Behavior needs to be changed by the lady who comes for cleaning the room. It is her duty to change the pillow covers on her own.

I have just spend some time at Howard Johnson by Wyndham Kolkata and what a good surprise.
The hotel team is taking a good care of the place and makes you feel very comfortable. The restaurant is something, food is super tasty and I have enjoyed very much all I have ate. I will definitely come back. Big thank to sandip Ghosn that brings me my room service, Nikhil mondal who takes care of my room everyday, Bhabna from the restaurant but as well the people I didn’t name, from the kitchen to restaurant staff and the lobby, that are all part of the great job. I stayed here for one night first time in Kolkata from Nepal heading to the Andaman Islands. I was greeted with lots of smiles, very friendly accommodating staff who helped me with everything I needed. I ate and drank at the bar. Everything was delicious. The room was very comfortable stocked with everything you need. Great view of their beautiful pool. It was closed for maintenance so I couldn’t try it. They made me feel like family. I highly recommend this hotel when you want to stay close to the airport in Kolkata. Thank you for everything!From€27
