|0.33km from city center1. This is a B&B hotel. Unlike the general hotel, the owner of the store, the two partners, take care of the hotel in person, and make the guests feel like they are at home. Especially the breakfast is sitting around a rectangular table, the owner is baking bread for everyone, tea or coffee. Although everyone did not know each other, they soon became familiar with it, chatting and chatting, chatting about the places they visited and sharing experiences. The atmosphere is very good and I like it very much. 2. There is a Malay Chinese in the host, very young, very enthusiastic and talkative. Chinese tourists will be more convenient. 3. The hotel is in a good location, about 15 minutes walking distance to the city center. It is convenient to visit the main attractions in the city. 4. The fly in the ointment is that because it is an old house, the room layout is limited, the room is relatively small, and may not be used to Chinese tourists who are used to big houses. In addition, Chinese tourists who are not good at English may not be able to adapt to this environment.

|0.21km from city centerI stayed at the North South Holiday Park at the start of my solo NZ trip and very happy with my choice. The owner Dan picked me up from the airport ($5) and was able to transport me with my bike. I was able to check in early to my accommodation which was great as my flight came in early and I was jetlagged. I stayed two nights in an ensuite cabin which more than met my needs. There is a Burger King, Petrol station, highway inn within walking distance and a supermarket close by. When I went to set up my bike equipment the day after I arrived, I realised my tire was flat as my airline had misokaced some of my luggage I didn't have a bike pump. Dan was very accommodating and helped provide me with tools I needed for my bike. I highly recommend staying here and shall return here for the end of my journey in the south island.

|1.42km from city centerI cannot say enough about James who went above and beyond his quality service he provided for my daughter who is holidaying from Sydney. My daughter became ill and is physically unable to walk, without discomfort and also is part time in a wheel chair. I booked her room in an upstairs apartment, then my daughter became ill. I forgot to rebook a down stairs room for her as stairs was a no go. James was fully booked but managed to arrange guests so my daughter and her partner could have a convenient down stairs room for their stay. I am so grateful for James to be so patient, kind and considerate making the stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are spotless and super clean. Thankyou James for your 10/10 service I can not thank you enough.

Sumner
|1.64km from city centerSimilar to a previous review I was very disappointed and the main issue I believe is that many of the information sites are falesly advertising that Parking is available on site,. At the back inside the house is: A tiny room approx 2 and 1/4 metres wide; L shape. On my second night I could not sleep as a large window high above the bed to the left ( over one metre wide by one foot high) was stuck and wide open all night. A strong cold wind began around 11pm and too high to shut even when I stood on the couch and I am quite tall. The wind caused the blind to beat against the wall all night. Then at 3am the smoke alarm started beeping so I spent all night with the TV ON to pass the time. I asked the owner for a refund for one of the nights for this bad experience but none forthcoming. There was a lot of voices coming from the owners room through the door in the next room at times. The bathroom was down a passage where I was unable to shut that window also; it appeared to be an old window type as I (on my own and over 75) couldn't move the hinges. I stayed at motels the same week for the same price. $150 night. Wonderful I felt like I was out of Jail. Many travel sites for this guest house say FREE PRIVATE PARKING IS AVAILABLE ON SITE. This is not true. The owner told me that I could not park ON SITE. I cannot stress that: Parking was a huge problem as the metal locked driveway gate was for private use only I was told and the roadside on one side had time limits. On such a busy area with two cafes next door I had to keep circling the block and finally parked some distance away. This guest house does not welcome guests who take on this room to a kitchen or lounge or provide breakfast or meals. When I finally found a park I had to make 3 trips with belongings and food. Tourists especially from overseas need to be aware of this and also this major parking issue. Public Holidays are even WORSE to find a park which could be kms away. A very low couch was side on to the Tv. There were no table or chairs, to eat your food on or sit your coffee on. Just a wardrobe with a toaster, microwave, fridge and jug. The bed head board was not attached to the bed and banged against the wall. This room was around the back inside the house that looked out on their private driveway and garage. There was no comfort staying in this space during the day even though I needed rest. Lots of improvements needed here and a big reduction from $150 per night. A welcome pack would have been great showing a map of Sumner with cafes etc., especially for first time overseas visitors or New Zealanders

South New Brighton
|0.55km from city centerThis could be a really nice park if it was well maintained and the shower/toilet block ripped down and rebuilt. Showers are strong and hot but revolting floors and rotting benches to put your clothes on. The kids playground is full of ****s, rusting and falling apart. Camp kitchen is well equipped, no TV. Park is mostly permanent residents who are friendly and look after their sites well. In retrospect, we would've preferred to stay at the Top 10 a few minutes up the road where you're guaranteed modern facilities and a well looked after park.

|0.22km from city centerI had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

|0.24km from city centerThe location is very good, there is breakfast, the only bug is to go upstairs, there are stairs and no elevator. In addition, note that no one works after 6 pm in this store, and you can check in by yourself.

|0.59km from city centerIt was our second time at this place, and we would definitely love to return in the future again. Sue and Greg are amazing hosts, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. We stayed at the Pool studio with our kids for 5 days and loved every minute of our vacation. Lots of little details to make us feel at home, breakfast ready for us in the fridge, plenty of toys for kids to play with, swimming pool, tennis court. Very close for a good coffee or to restaurants, National Aquatic Centre, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, shops, parks nearby (great for morning runs followed by a swim in the awesome heated swimming pool at your door!). We definitely recommend this place; we had such a wonderful and memorable vacation!

|1.07km from city centerBecause it is a park-style hotel, it is not in the city center, but it is good in the environment, quiet and quiet, and cost-effective. A few minutes drive to the supermarket, it is recommended to cook. Some rooms do not have separate washrooms, the common kitchen and washroom are close to the room, and the kitchen has a frying pan and more electric stoves. More suitable for taking children.

|0.19km from city centerI lived in Auckland a long time ago, but South Island landed for the first time this time. Speaking of Christchurch, there is only B & B! And the hotel and apartment are ignored and decided here. It was a really nice building as we looked at. All the interiors and the courtyard are cute. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Excited with a 4-year-old daughter and mother! The breakfast was delicious too. The bathroom is also elaborately decorated, but one difficulty. It was a bit of a unique floor plan, and the shower water flowed to the cupboards and toilets. The drainage of the drain is not bad, but it is probably due to the floor plan. Later, I'm full of family, so everyone is always busy and I don't want to catch anything. When I first arrived, nobody came out even if I pushed the bell, and when I was in trouble, a customer who went out happened to open the door and put it inside (lol) It was exactly the same when other guests came, just the entrance We stayed in the room next to us and opened the door (laughs) The owner family feels good, but it seems to be busy all day. I thought this price was a bit expensive for B & B per night, but I was satisfied. Finally, the security aspect is subtle. Christchurch is safe and should be fine, but if you are worried about it, we recommend a hotel.
