It is easy to take a bus from Bangalore to Yellapur, which at 32 km away is the closest bus station to the falls but if you fancy traveling in a bit more luxury many taxi drivers are willing to make the 423 km journey.

If traveling by train is your preference, the nearest railway station to Yellapur is Hubli which is 68 km away and well serviced as are most waterfalls near Bangalore.

Of all the waterfalls near Bangalore, these are the ones with the most endearing legend. It explains that Rama and Lakshmana traversed the Bhramagiri range looking for Rama's beloved, Sita. Then, Rama asked Lakshmana to find him some drinking water and Lakshmana fired an arrow into the Brahmagiri hills creating the river Lakshmana Tirtha. According to the legend, the Iruppu Falls possess the power to cleanse sins and due to this is visited by a multitude of devotees on Shivaratri day.

The best time to visit Magod Falls is between the October-January period as during the summer season there's hardly any water in the fall.
