We chose this place because of its location and were so glad we did. It was within walking distance of my mother-in-law's care home and a good restaurant. The owners are ever so friendly. The bedroom had a bed large enough for my 6'5” husband and there was a friendly lounge. Quirky decorations everywhere. Breakfast was great. I am celiac and that was no problem for them - smoked salmon and eggs! One bedroom is larger than the other but we chose the one with a bit of a patio, so it rained the whole time. We will be back.

Very hard to find as it's just named Hotel. Not Halcyon. Small unassuming frontage white house converted. Carpets in reception and up stairs abyssmal Staff pleasant. Room was good but cold. Lovely view. Not much good if you arrive and it's getting dark and have to be up early for marathon. Had to ask for central heating to be put on which went off later. No extra blanket in room. Clock in room was lovely but wasn't working. Extremely expensive for one night. £172 ??expecting full breakfast, was continental, cheap cereals, days old croissants that were microwaved, cheap yoghurt. Things you'd tally pay peanuts for. I asked why it was so expensive I was told that's the price for that room. But when I was booking they had another room and was told it was also £170. Today it's £70???

An absolutely delightful stay at Gyves House. Having walked 30,000 steps from Seaford to Eastbourne over the 7 sisters, this was the perfect cosy home away from home that we were looking for. A wonderfully soft night’s sleep, aided by little personal touches of homemade chocolate brownies, homemade lavender biscuits and pillow mist. Breakfast was incredible too with lots of lovely local products, homemade jams and preserves, and plenty on offer. We started with the homemade yogurt and granola and then both enjoyed the full English breakfast. One of the nicest guest houses we’ve stayed in. Would highly recommend!
