"Chewton Glen made our staycation for our 5 year anniversary very special. From arrival we were greeted by Annie who checked us in and took us in a buggy to our treehouse studio suite. She showed us around the room and was available by phone to the front desk throughout the evening for all our needs. This included two occasions for the need of a new robe and when we wanted to find out how to make hot chocolate with the machine in the room. The room was very spacious and luxurious. It was clean and comfortable also. I was really excited to have private use of the jacuzzi and log burner. We were happy to see that they had left a personalised card for us wishing us a happy anniversary (in addition to the personalised dessert at the Dining Room the next day for lunch. My girlfriend and I are from London so it was lovely to feel a change of pace during our stay. They were happy to accommodate us sharing a room for our hot oil massage and Carla made an effort to have a friendly talk with us afterwards. Tony and John from front of house and Zul from the lounge were also very friendly to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay."
"We spent a weekend here in a treehouse studio suite with our dog. We had a fantastic weekend. The treehouse was beautiful with a lovely view of woodland and a hot tub on the deck. The breakfast hamper and all of the snacks in the room were made vegan for us upon request. We had lunch in the hotel bar a couple of time and had our evening meals in the restaurant which also offered excellent vegan options (they would also have been happy to deliver vegan food to the treehouse). The staff here are excellent from the team that clean the rooms to the bar staff, the reception staff and the restaurant staff (especially Ari whose warm, friendly attitude was lovely). High quality but not stuck up or snooty! We walked to the beach a couple of times as well as around the grounds of the hotel. We also had massages in the spa although you can have them in the treehouse if you wish. This is my favourite hotel in the world, can’t wait to go back."
"I booked a two night stay at Chewton Glen to mark the occasion of my husbands retirement on the 11th and 12th March. We were extremely delighted and appreciative on our arrival,to have our room choice upgraded. Our suite overlooking the croquet lawn was tranquil and magnificent. We enjoyed the Tasting Menu in the dining room on the first night and a more relaxed dinner at the Kitchen on the second night. The food on both occasions was good and all staff at the hotel went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. The location is ideal for a beautiful if not very windy and bracing beach walk . We also booked the nearby Clue Crypted Escape room which was great fun. We would happily recommend Chewton Glen "

"My sister and I took mum for afternoon tea for a birthday treat. The venue and ambiance was great, the location is stunning, the food was lovely and the waitress was lovely too. The parking experience was not so good. A week after my visit I received a PCN notice from the company who now manage the car park demanding £100, or £60 if paid within 14 days. This came as a total surprise as I had paid and displayed, and had left within the 2hrs I'd paid for. I can only imagine I must have got a digit wrong when entering my registration number at the pay machine. I was with my elderly mum so was trying to be quick, and it was raining. Luckily, although I'd thrown my ticket away, I managed to retrieve it from the bin. The part of the registration number that is printed on the ticket is correct, but it doesn't show all of it. I have of course appealed, and won't be paying the fine, but it has rather put me off going again, as there are other nice places around the area to choose from. I have exchanged emails with the hotel management team. They have been polite but I think the car park is clumsily managed."
"Stayed for one night. Staff friendly, food excellent, room clean and spacious. Good location. No moans at all but we payed £255 B&B and the couple of little things I’d expect for this money are; tissues in room/bathroom, a fridge for keeping water cold, no offer of newspaper in the morning (I forgot to ask but receptionists at good hotels usually prompt these sort of things) and a powerful shower. Hotel branded umbrellas (they’re missing an advertising opportunity here!). As I say little tweaks but nothing that spoiled our stay. I forgot to mention the cracked tile in the bathroom on checkout . Too many dogs for our liking but that’s a personal thing. Would recommend."
"We have recently had a five night stay at the Captains club and we had a fantastic time, we originally booked a three night stay in an apartment room which had a couple of issues but Juliet, Nikki and Tim sorted them out to our satisfaction, we then decided to extend our stay by two nights, unfortunately the room we had wasnt available but again Nikki and Juliet went above and beyond to juggle rooms so that we didnt have to move rooms twice in two days, the food was great a special mention to Harry and Valter who were excellent, all in all a fantastic stay, a couple of small things need updating but I understand that a renovation is planned. We will definitely be back!"

"Rooms- dull decor, not cleaned adequately as the carpet was dusty and there was scum around the taps and soap bottles. It needs to be done completely! The bed linen was worn but the bed was comfy. The walls are paper thin so we could hear the extractor fan from next door which was very loud and annoying and could hear people in the next room which was quite unpleasant. The doors in the bathroom are cheap and no locks on them. No spare towels or pillows, no fridge, poor coffee and tea facilities and it was quite warn at night. Breakfast On the 17th it was fine but menu is very dated and does not cater for vegetarians or vegans at all. One female staff member did sound like she had a bad cold which put us off a bit. Tasty full English and coffee was fine. The second morning we queued outside for 45 mins before we were seated. It was absolute chaos and nobody took responsibility for our table. We waited even longer for someone to get us coffee and toast. This time we had just poached eggs because my partner had the salmon the day before which was very chewy and I didn’t fancy another full English. Very long wait and other tables were neglected too. One male staff member was actually running up and down the room rushing to get things which was very off putting. Not one bit relaxing. Banana bread was good though Dinner. Good menu, small starter portions. The seared tube was very tasteless. I had the cod which was good but the mash was cold. The mushroom risotto was nice. Good desserts but the creme brûlée was freezing cold and it should be warm. Temperature in the room was a little cold but lovely staff and nice wine. Spa Very basic spa, only small pool which was over crowded and a small jacuzzi. Very old changing room lockers that are not working and need replacing desperately! Need £1 for them also which should be mentioned to guests. There was no availability for treatments for us which was very disappointing so we had to go to another hotel. It needs a facelift and it is quite small compared to the website "
"Thankyou to Simon, Elkin and the superb team at the Connaught for making xmas 2019 brilliant like always. Nothing is too much trouble.Surperb food from morning to night. Looking forward to our next visit. Thankyou."
"Stayed here for one night in one of the lodge rooms as a family of 3. The room is a great space as has a separate room within the room for your child so you can still have an evening once they’re in bed. The room was a bit tired, no mini fridge but there was a small space to make tea/coffee. The pool is currently 1 hour slot during your stay which has to be pre-booked, pool area okay but needs repair/cleaning in places and you had to really thump the button on the jacuzzi to get it working. The pool could do with cleaning (sand at the bottom), sauna/steam room out of use (expected). We didn’t stay or eat in the main hotel part but we did have breakfast to our room which was just okay - the sausage was the densest I’ve eaten, bacon was thick cut (not to my taste) but cooked well. We were expecting coffee in a cafetière and tea in a teapot instead of instant sachets in a takeaway cup but maybe this is a Covid thing. We didn’t sleep well due to other people’s slamming doors (not much can be done about that as they’re so heavy) and 2 men loudly shouting in the hallway at 11pm at night (not the hotels fault but still affected our sleep nonetheless), the beds were not comfortable at all and neither were the pillows. I have to say though the staff were all lovely and friendly every single staff member we came into contact with so no complaints there. All in all a 50/50 stay."

"A forced hotel, especially a sea-view room, as shown in the picture, is a first-line sea view. You can see the sea in the morning when you open your eyes. At night, you can hear the delicate sound of the waves and fall asleep. The room type is comparable to the previous British hotel. Very spacious. The other is room service. The cleaning service not only rearranged the bed and made up the bathroom supplies, but also helped me stack the clothes that I changed out neatly (as shown in Figure 1). The last highlight is the breakfast (as shown in Figure 3). The type is self-service. The taste and texture are great. If you sit outside, you can also enjoy the dining experience of the first-line sea view. The overall experience is worthy of full marks. If I come to Bournemouth next time, I will still choose this one."
"The hotel is by the sea, the scenery is good, but under the erosion of the sea breeze, the facilities are aging seriously, the floor in the room will be sizzling, but after all, it is owned by Marriott, management is OK, there is no British style, the restaurant is very good, eating Looking at the sea view outside, the price is not more expensive than the restaurant in the town. Free parking is available."
"For the UK. very good"

"Nice welcome & given access to room an hour earlier than check in time. Room & bathroom a bit cold but husband found radiators switched off so he sorted that, we unpacked and then headed out to make most of the bit of sunshine. We returned about 3 hours later... and it was still cold. Towel rail in bathroom obviously half full off air as with radiator. Phoned reception and a member of team came to look and offered extra heater, which was promptly delivered. This certainly made it more comfortable for a bath and getting ready for evening. The next morning we told reception that really the radiators needed bleeding. On our return late afternoon they were all sorted and everywhere was lovely and warm. Lovely comfy bed, great towels. Nice shower gel & moisturizer, plenty of it too. Great towels & a very powerful hairdryer. Lovely evening dinner, great breakfasts, very nice cosy bar area with fab gin bar and knowledgeable young barman. Nice staff all round. Great central location, walk into Bournemouth town. Parking on site available. I missed that it costs £8 per day and we were not told at check in, so that came as a bit of a surprise when checking out , but at least we got parked. I didn't use pool or spa but my friend swam and said pool very good, with towels provided. Would return for another weekend visit. Thank you Connaught."
"Stayed here for 3 night break from 16th Feb, on arrival we were greeted by friendly efficient reception staff, we were in room 50 that had a nice little balcony, room was spotlessly clean with superking size bed, kettle tea and coffee, even bottled water on bedside table which was all replaced daily. The only downside was the size of the bathroom which was very small ours had a bath with an on the wall shower which being older with a bad back was difficult for me to get in and out of for a shower, but again this was kept spotless. The bar area was nice and the drinks not overly expensive. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights and the food was beautiful and priced really good for a hotel. The location is great too just a few minutes walk to the town and all the amenities. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel."
"Excellent hotel in good location. Very relaxed. Great served breakfast and evening meals. Super choice of gins at the bar. Large and comfortable rooms in the lodge. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay there again"

"My husband and I stayed in the Dolphin suite just after Christmas for 2 nights. We were greeted by a very friendly gentlemen who told us about the area, the manor house and showed us to our room. The room was very clean and comfortable. The decor was very traditional and slightly dated but I felt that this suited the style of the house and made it feel all the more quaint and cosy! Breakfast was served between 8-9.30am and was very good and had everything you'd want. Staff were very polite and friendly. Just down the road from Grovefield Manor (2-3 doors down!) there's a really good pub called the 'Inn in the Park' - great food! From what I saw, the surrounding area is very quiet, but there is a path across the road that leads to a beautiful beach that you can walk along to get to Bournemouth. I imagine this beach would be very popular in the summer! It was really easy to walk and/or bus it into Bournemouth town center (30 min walk / 8 mins by bus) where there's loads to do - I highly recommend the 'The Bournemouth Stable' for good pizza and cider! Overall, a really nice stay. Great for anyone who's looking for a comfy and quiet stay in a beautiful area."
"My partner and I stayed here as we were meeting family in Poole the following day. First impressions were of high expectations, the grand exterior and entrance hall. These expectations were met when Chris greeted us and gave us all the necessary information and more, the family feel to this property makes you feel very welcome! Our room was beautiful, king sized bed and all the amenities you could need. We had a very comfortable nights sleep. The beach is just a 3 min walk away and there are plenty or pubs and restaurants near by and within walking distance. The only niggle we had was that the light fitting above our bed was very thick with dust and could do with a good polish. I would definitely return to this enchanted and welcoming Manor again. "
"On arrival the owner demanded the cash in full, prior to us going to our rooms. We asked that we unpacked first. We had already paid a deposit and given credit card details. Both rooms were dirty, a squashed fly on the pillowcase, a spider ran out from the mat a spider in the lampshade. The rooms were cold no heating not even a heated towel rail.. We told Chris the owner we wanted them cleaned. He sent the cleaner for 5mins. His response, the cleaner said they weren’t very dirty!!! also its near the garden hence the spiders! We decided we would leave the following day..Early evening Chris came to the door demanding that we pay the full amount of money in cash. I told him I was undressed and just about to take a shower, he was aggressive and said he would return in 10 mins. When he came back we told him the place was dirty and we did not wish to stay for the 4 days, he was aggressive shouting in our face and demanding payment. He would not leave (we are 2 ladies) We told him we would not stay longer than one night and would only pay for one night. He shouted and threatened, demanding the full payment. I then phoned my husband.. Chris then said he would not charge the full amount. He insisted on us paying him £250.00 in cash, which I did. He then left. This experience was frightening. We left and booked into the Hampton. The Hampton was clean and cheaper. This horrible experience cost £350.00 for 1 night (2 rooms) I wrote to the owners prior to posting this review. NO RESPONSE."

"I went to the Kings Arms today for a birthday lunch with my parents. The food was lovely but the service made it extra special. Our sever, Rainer (I hope I spelt that right), was spot on. So kind, and really attentive without neglecting her other tables. She remembered my parents from an earlier visit, had an excellent knowledge of the menu and made us all feel really special. Honestly couldn’t have been more lovely to us. Our food was beautiful and drinks etc delivered with perfect timing. Such a lovely occasion. Thank you! As a family we can’t wait for you to start your new Brunch menu!!! See you again very soon! Thank you! X"
"So I always get our group to meet here as we really like it. I didn't realise they were doing a relaunch on the Saturday so when we walked it it was very busy, busier then normal. It didn't help that we were a party of 17 turning up for drinks. The guys behind the bar were lovely, yes we waited a little longer then usual for our drinks. But they were most apologetic, kind & offering us some drinks on the house as an apology. Very nice touch! thank you for looking after a very thirsty bunch. Wishing you all the luck with the relaunch see you again next time. "
"We picked the Kings based on various reviews and what their website said was included.. I'm disappointed to say it didn't live up to them. Website said complimentary G&T on room in arrival - didn't happen! Website said 'happy hour' between 5pm-7pm Mon-Thurs where gin would be £5 each - didnt happen and was told it wasn't on their website anymore (not true as we sat at the bar and checked) Newspapers left outside our room when we didn't ask for them. Went to pay the bill on departure and it was £70 more than it should have been as an evening dinner had been added to the bill. Odd as you have to sign to add to bill and we went out for dinner that night so couldn't have signed receipt. The worst thing though was that we were emailed to say the bar was closed for refurbishment the day after we could cancel for free. Now this feels intentional, devious and underhand if you ask me.!! All in all, the stay wasn't great and certainly didn't live up to the £300 bill for a the stay. One plus was the staff who were friendly and helpful. A 5 star service in what can only be described as a 2 star hotel."
