The service was very good and helpful. We checked in earlier than anticipated. The room could do with a touch up but otherwise very clean. Bath was a bit of an inconvenience as my wife is disabled. The bistro ( orrest head ) was very nice indeed. Staff were very accommodating and nice. No problems whatsoever with staff and food was outstanding and even catered for birthday and anniversary celebration. Nice to see vegetarian options as well.

The hotel is located on the hillside of the lake area, manor-style, beautiful appearance, with a garden and large lawn, the environment is beautiful. Originally booked a classic twin room, after considering such a good environment, I still enjoyed it, so I looked at the picture and added money to book a club twin room. I was very looking forward to it. As a result, I was disappointed when I went upstairs. First of all, the elevator went to the first floor (the second floor in China), and our room was on the second floor. So the chartered driver who can work hard for Trip.com helped us take the box, and then after entering the door, I found that it was completely different from the picture. It was worse than the classic twin room we originally booked. There was a sofa, no coffee table, no desk and chair, and the service desk negotiated. The front desk staff was busy with restaurant service. So every time I asked him to ring the bell and wait, and I denied that there was a mistake. I insisted that the picture on Trip.com was wrong. What was given to us was the club twin room. There were no other rooms at present, so I could helpless stay and spent the worst night of the 16 nights of the trip. Fortunately, later Trip.com came forward to coordinate the refund of the difference and made corresponding compensation. We are still satisfied with the after-care work of Trip.com .

The feeling of an English country villa is very cozy. When traveling with a family, we thought that three people would squeeze into one bed, but when we came back, we found that the service staff had put up a folding bed. The service staff was very nice. If there was no service staff after 7pm, you could call if you needed anything, and enter and exit the hotel by yourself with the key. The scenery around the Lake District is absolutely stunning, and based on the hotel’s impressive rating (9.7 at the time of booking), we were genuinely looking forward to a pleasant and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. To begin with, the shower in Room 5 was in very poor condition — the water pressure was extremely low and, more importantly, the temperature fluctuated constantly, swinging from cold to scalding without warning. It made showering frustrating and uncomfortable. A friend staying in Room 4 said their shower was acceptable, so hopefully this issue was just limited to our room. Secondly, while we booked three consecutive nights, the weather in April after rain can be quite chilly in the Lake District. Unfortunately, the central heating in our room seemed to stop working around midnight — when we woke up cold at 1am, the radiators were lukewarm at best. We asked the host for a small electric heater, which they provided. The next day, we left the heater on while we went out for lunch, so the room would be warm when we returned. However, the host turned it off while we were out and told us we weren’t allowed to leave it on because “electricity is expensive.” This felt unreasonable — we booked the room for three nights and expected to be able to use basic appliances to ensure a minimum level of comfort. Utility costs should be part of the price, not passed on to guests indirectly like this. Finally, the host’s attitude was hard to interpret — consistently unfriendly, which made us feel unwelcome. We couldn’t help but wonder if our Asian appearance played a part. On the day of checkout, there was no flexibility at all. At exactly 11:00am, the host entered the room to start cleaning, even though we were still in the middle of packing. It was quite surprising (and honestly, a bit shocking) to see someone come in and begin changing the sheets while we were still inside, especially when just a few minutes of grace time would not have delayed anything for the next guest, but certainly affected our impression. All in all, if you advertise yourself as a hotel, you should operate to hotel standards. If you position yourself as a highly rated guesthouse or B&B, then please live up to the expectations that come with that score. Sadly, based on our experience, this place falls far short of the 9.7 rating it currently holds.

I booked a room for 3 people, on the top floor, the room size is okay, there is room for luggage. The facilities are new and the mattresses are comfortable. The landlord is very enthusiastic, and my son chatted with him very happily. I must give him a good comment. Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

The price of the homestay for more than 1,000 nights is very general. I went early and the boss was very unhappy. I opened a door and wore a nightgown and pulled my face. The booked breakfast was delivered to the door of the room on time. I had breakfast in the room. The food was toast butter juice jam was not an English breakfast; Mainly because it was too early to check out at ten o'clock, but we couldn't do it; the landlord's cat performance was 100, nice 🐈

This is a family hotel, I didn't notice it when I booked it. The room was clean and it was a 15-minute walk from the ferry in the town. The landlord had a lot of rules: for example, you can't bring food from the restaurant back to the room, put your shoes on the tray, check out at 10 o'clock, and you can't store your bag after checking out.

Overall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.

The lake is less than 50 metre from the property boundary, so there are lake views from many rooms and from the large gardens and meadow. I especially recommend this hotel, a old English villa, which is newly renovated and British style. It is very clean and full of toiletries. It is 3 minutes away from the town by car. The room can see part of the lake view and the surrounding environment. Very good, I especially like their afternoon tea, the tea set is very exquisite, and I look at it with great care! Part of the breakfast is buffet, and the main meal is à la carte, with a large portion and enough to eat! If you have children staying with you, you must tell the hotel in advance that the children need to charge a fee of £28.50/piece/night! This fee includes breakfast and extra bed. If it is not stated in advance, the fee will still be charged, but there will be no extra bed! Expresso capsule coffee is provided free of charge in the room, which is my favorite. Those who like coffee are very surprised!

It's mid-mountain, and the environment is fantastic. However, the hike to the lake takes over half an hour, making it inconvenient. Driving would be perfect. There's no air conditioning, but there are fans. It might not be necessary on normal days when the temperature isn't high. But it was too hot on the first day, and the second day, when it rained and the temperature dropped, the air conditioning was completely unnecessary. The breakfast was excellent. If it were me, I'd just stay near the hotel, not go anywhere, and just stare blankly. It was so relaxing, hahaha.
