Pillow found to have impossibly bad odour, just so damn stinky that even the staff that took a sniff couldn't say anything except sorry, and bedsheets are highly suspect of not being changed between guest stays. Honestly unacceptable regardless of price.
Called the reception and it took them 30 minutes to deliver me a new pillow, but only 10 minutes to respond to my cancellation request through Trip.com (which they rejected), so you know what their priority is.
Other less glaring issues that I encountered:
1. Some of the worst toilet paper I've had the misfortune of using: it literally melts in contact with any liquid.
2. A tiny tube of body wash and shampoo each, good luck taking a decent shower if you didn't pack your own.
3. Shower water pressure starts off like a small drizzle and takes a solid 1-2 minutes to build into something usable.
4. Just a damp smell in the corridors and inside the room. The hotel knows this, and there's dehumidifiers around but they aren't helping much.
5. Bedsheets that got me feeling itchy because, yes, I don't think they changed them after the previous guest's stay.
The only saving grace of this hotel is its convenience and location. Head downstairs and there's everything you need, convenience stores, supermarkets and restaurants. But a good location really isn't enough to make up for the lack of basic cleanliness.
People always say you get what you paid for, but in this case, I feel like I'm paying for some past sin that I committed because the room is just that bad.
