YAYS Amsterdam Docklands Reviews

Excellent family experience. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The surroundings on the marina side are very contemporary and very quiet. The city is a stone's throw away by tram. There is an Albert Heijn supermarket a 2-minute walk away, open until 10 p.m. to cook a quiet meal in the apar**ent's beautiful kitchen. I had to say for a month stay at the Yays Docklands in March 2024. There were some positives and not so positives about my stay, so let's get started: Positives Apartments are spacious (I stayed in a 2 bedroom one), you'll find kitchen utensils, microwave, fridge, coffee maker (Nespresso) so this will help save on restaurant bills. Rooms are comfy enough with a full bathroom and you'll find shampoo and shower gel upon arrival so no need to bring along unless your skin type requires a specific one. I found the shower temperature to be fine yet it would suddenly get slightly colder during the course of a shower for no particular reason. Wifi does work (my Zoom calls went uninterrupted except for a day where wifi did not work for over 24 hours, no apologies nor previous advice from Yays), you can connect your phone to the TV, which you'll find one wall-mounted one in the main bedroom in addition to the living room. Yays is mostly used by tourists or, as me, people staying for weeks at a time, so it's very quiet during the day, I worked from the apartment a few days and I was perfectly able to enjoy the silence. There's a nearby street (Borneostraat) which is multiethnic and where you'll find great Turkish coffee, authentic baklava and many interesting restaurants. I encourage you to explore this street. Not so positives Location is a bit removed from downtown, however that's a matter of perspective. You can get to Central Amsterdam in about 15 to 20 minutes so it all depends on your particular preference. You can go there by tram, bus or even train (this one I'd discourage as it takes some walking or bus/tram). If you need some grocery shopping done, your closest supermarket is about 1 km away so be prepared to walk and carry your groceries with you. Staff at Yays is not responsive, cleaning arrangements are modified which is rather inconvenient and the cleaning crew don't bother to check if you're running low on gel or shampoo. All in all, I think the positives outweigh the not so positives, mostly if you're only staying for a few days as you'll most surely spend most of the time exploring Amsterdam and surrouding areas. Would I stay at the Yays again?: if I can find a better located alternative then no, I would not just for the convenience factor. Tip: Ask for a room located on a high floor, views will be better and you'll be more removed from the street noise (nothing to be concerned about, just one club located next to the Yays which operates Friday and Saturday evenings but the noise coming from it is very light). Hope this will be useful for you.

Excellent accommodation, studio room was extremely spacious, clean and bright. The bathroom was amazing and the shower was next level. Bed was super comfortable and was great to have control of heating and AC. Lovely views. It is a little further outside of the centre but didn’t bother us, we just hopped on a bus 5 mins walk away and were in the centre within 10 mins.

Amazing hotel! Trip to Amsterdam for valentine's, stayed four nights here. The apartments are so nice and come fully equipped! The beds are comfy and can easily access apps on the TV. They allowed me to have flowers delivered as well and put fake petals on our bed for valentine's! Amazing! Front of house staff really friendly as well, also loved that we could borrow games. Really recommend here if you're staying in Amsterdam, easy to get into center as well. Loved my stay here!

Will be 5 starts if they won’t charge you for towels or add maybe one room service at least, after 7 nights of stay. Good and comfortable rooms, maybe rooms needed more storage for clothing. But overall very satisfied. Great apt since is more like an VRBO Style then an Hotel. Took Uber to Center or Red light District is 10 min $10-$15 euro charge, not bad at all. Cheaper in bus or train, but you got to walk around 8-10 blocks, which in rain and cold weather can be challenging more if you have kids like us. Overall will recommend this hotel for couples or families. Great parking under the building. Will be back there for sure! 👍

The apartment was very large and comfortable for 6 people. The staff on the front desk were helpful. Transporr links into the city were regular and clean

Everything was perfect! Staff at reception was great! The nearest bus/tram station is around 400m far. You need around 20mins to the city center, of 15mins to the National Maritime Museum, or Nemo Museum. The only thing that I would like to mention is dailylight in the apartment. The light was not so strong, in living room and kitchen lamps/bulbs are weak even after we turn them all on. Beside that, top !

The staff were approachable, helpful and friendly. They made an extra effort to chat to our young son to welcome him. It was clean and safe. The room we were in had views across the harbour which was great. Supermarkets, shops, tram and bus stops and a lovely local park are all within a 15 minute walk. It means the accommodation and area is lovely and quiet. Would recommend to families.

The hotel itself is clean and the staff were friendly however it is a €20 Uber to the city centre which was inconvenient. The complex is very strict also but you expect that with a nice place. It’s perfect for big family’s

Hi! I'm Marina from Buenos Aires, Argentina. We enjoyed Amsterdam YAYS Docklands, the apartment was very comfortable, clean and we have a lot of space, even a laundry room!!. We took every advice Frasier gave us, such as wich tram to take or where to find an albert hein. They also help us how to use the stovetop. I really enjoy the mini espresso machine and the views from my bedroom (wich has a lovely walk in closet). We have a ver good stay, thanks!

The 2 bdrm apt we rented was spacious and clean. Not being European we had some fun figuring out appliances, but we did it! Grocery store was 10 minutes walk. Bus stop was 5 to 7 minutes away. Tram station was about 10 minutes as well.

Visited here for 4 nights with my family (5 of us 3 children 6, 8, 10 and myself and my wife) very friendly staff and very helpful. Was clean tidy and new rooms. Will be coming back! Was nice being slighly out the center away from the noise and busy areas and got to see more of amsterdam taking the tram (which is 5mins down the road) into the city center (they come like every 5-10mins)

The reception/front office is exceptional. Mohammed/Claire are caring, helpful and friendly. Room is clean,spacious and in good condition. Would definitely recommend this place. It takes around 5-10 mins walk from public transport to the hotel

The apartments are huge. I was not expecting so much space in a hotel room. The appliances worked well and were useful. It is a quiet location with bunch of great food options about a 15 minute walk away. The lobby is welcoming. The biggest downside is that the area is very new so transportation is trickier than in established areas of Amsterdam. We ended up using Uber and we found that rides would not come pick us up unless we walked a bit to an area they were more familiar with. The Ubers were inexpensive though, so I do recommend using them if you aren't biking. The transportation situation wasn't bad, it was just an unexpected learning experience.
