The Gleneagles Hotel

We loved our stay at Gleneagles, everything about made it memorable. Staff, food, room, spa and location was all excellent. The staff at hotel was just excellent and went out there to help and feel welcome the minute arrived onsite Food was just excellent and it best breakfast we have ever had Really enjoy our time in the spa and again just fantastic. What can say about location it just l was stunning.

A warm, homely and true country feel as soon as you enter… very grand with much charm and history. The rooms are spacious and make you feel as though you’ve escaped the outside world. Look out the window to the wild Scottish countryside. I don’t drink whiskey but if at any time in my life I did, Gleneagles would be the perfect spot to enjoy a dram. The bath salts are a great touch and coming out the boiling hot water I felt like I could have slept for a month. Food - I may ruffle a few feathers here but the truffle burger just didn’t hit the spot that I expected it to for the price…. Quite dry in all honesty but with a hefty price tag. The check in was also later than what was advised however we were duly compensated. Great service, great wine and a deep breathe of the Scottish air and you’ll know why I would certainly return.

A spectacular classic Scottish lodge with every detail raised to the highest order. The food - in particular The Strathearn breakfast! The drinks - beautiful old school bars! The golf! The activities -shooting! The grounds! And, of course the lodge itself - perfect on all counts. Not cheap but it was nice to live like English (Scottish) aristocracy for a few days. Can't wait to go back.

Very sadly, had a shockingly bad experience at Gleneagles for a three night stay in April. 10 things that went wrong / warning for others to look out for: (1) i made reservations over the telephone, paying £1,000+ per night (two, connecting rooms to include three teenagers + two parents), but was not informed of a website offer of 50% off if you bring children! buyer beware. (2) £1,000 a night rooms included one room without a single window! We were given rooms at the end of the wing, which overlook the service area. so the windows are 100% frosted. (3) received email saying they had booked us in for breakfast at 10:30! i replied asking for an earlier table at 830 or 9. Got not response. Emailed a second time. Reponse was i can have a table at 8am and 815am. (4) arrived at 6:30pm at the front desk. My 14yr old asked - "why is the check-in fellow so passive aggressive"? who knew that 14yr olds recognise passive aggressiveness? (5) at 6:45pm, asked reception where we could dine. Response was that all restaurants were fully booked until 10pm. (6) while checking in, receptionist said we (family of 5) could try to get seats at the bar of the Birnam where they would seat us without a booking. Walked over to the restaurant, where the hostess told us children are not permitted to dine at the bar. oh well (7) £1,000 a night room smelled of sewage two of the evenings. Something wrong with the drains. oh well (8) 2 of 3 nights didn't bother to do the turn down service. Not really an issue, except we ran out of tea! (9) v expensive. (10) v busy, meaning hard to book activities etc. Apart from the negatives above, it must be said the staff OUTSIDE of the hotel around the grounds, whether the golf pro shop, the archery, the argocat were extraordinarily helpful, kind and fun. Oddly, inside the hotel there was a consistently odd tone. Much be going through some internal upheavals or changes. Caveat emptor.

Outstanding. First time I’ve wanting to award a 6 out of 5! Staff are brilliant. Activities first class and make for a memorable stay. Rooms are so well appointed and the bed must be one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. Grounds beautiful. Breakfast is amazing. I’m struggling to find any areas for improvement - maybe better control of the EV charging area where a number of cars were not charging and blocking bays. I did get a bay on final day off stay but having a policy of controlling those bays via concierge might ensure better availability. First class stay and will definitely return.

Our stay at the hotel was the most memorable especially as it was my 70th birthday The hotel has got to be one of the best we have ever stayed in Everything about our stay was perfect and we were sad when we had to leave ……………………………………………………………..

This hotel is the real deal, the pinnacle of luxury. Every last detail is thought of. The room, the facilities and the food and drink were perfect. So many fun activities to do and staff could genuinely not do enough for you throughout the hotel. Could not recommend highly enough.

From arrival to leaving the stay was spectacular. The room - one word - WOW! Champagne on arrival courtesy of the hotel for my husband’s 50th was well received and appreciated. Dining - delicious, spa - so clean and relaxing. Was booked well in advance as a special celebration and I can happily say it lived up to every expectation I had.
