I stayed in this hotel for a few days when I went to Provence with my family to relax in March. In every aspect, it is a French classical high-end hotel experience. The surrounding environment and dining options are also quite a lot. It won’t go wrong to experience it!

Lovely hotel. We had tea in their lobby dining area after a fascinating but tiring trip through the Popes’ Palace. The waiter and the young ladies assisting him could not have been more kind and welcoming. The tea was excellent and the pastries were incredible. The front desk called a taxi to take us to the railway station even though we were not guests at the hotel. The hotel has a refined atmosphere with a sophisticated sense of service known to previous generations but rarely seen today.

Amazing staff. Rooms are exquisitely detailed and large. This hotel at one time was the Cardinal’s residence. Beautiful gardens. Across from Pope’s Palace with views of the ancient walls. Many common area rooms to relax and beautiful breakfast room.

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at La Mirande for three nights in December 2023. It has been my dream for many years to stay at La Mirande. And La Mirande did not disappoint in fact it far exceeded our expectations! The hotel is perfectly located right next to the Palais des Papes. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning understated elegance at its best. The rooms are beautifully decorated with lovely furnishings and sumptuous Pierre Frey fabrics. We stayed in room 20 which we just loved. The housekeeping was impeccable with day and evening service. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. We also enjoyed Afternoon Tea. We had all three dinners at “La Salle à Manger” which we thoroughly enjoyed. I think my husband would have been open to trying other places but I never wanted to leave the hotel. Next time I would love to try the Michelin starred “Le Restaurant” which wasn’t open the days we stayed there and the La “Table Haute”. I would also love to take one of the cooking courses that La Mirande offers. The hotel arranged a pick up from the train station and we were met by Pauline who was so engaging and was amazing at navigating the tiny streets. The hotel also arranged for Pauline to take us to Arles, Nîmes and the Pont de Gard-a great excursion. The first person who we met at the hotel was Anthony Trotin who was so personable, professional and helpful. We also met another Anthony, Margot, Guillaume and Célia. I am sorry I can’t remember everyone’s name but everyone we encountered at La Mirande was accommodating, gracious and professional. It was a dream to be able to stay at La Mirande and we will definitely be back!

This 17th century chateau, converted to a luxury hotel a few decades ago, is a treasure in the heart of the walled city of Avignon. The rooms are spacious and elegant, with large, modern bathrooms. Service is impeccable. Although there can be minor language barriers at times, every employee goes above and beyond to make everything work with the magic that one can feel only in a special property like this.

Came specially as recommended for a nice afternoon tea in front of a lovely fire in the living room. Unfortunately the waiter said it wouldn’t be possible to be lit as the manager is absent! Lovely old world charm to hotel. Nice tea and panetonne anyway!

We were really looking forward to having afternoon tea here to celebrate our twins 9th birthday. Positives. I loved my tea melange mirande. Very cosy with the fire place. Things I can look beyond. Furniture (chairs etc) all very dated and worn; it could be considered cozy and authentic. Things I can not overlook. Customer service was non existent! No welcome. No menus offered. No customers there yet all the tables in the lounge had dirty glasses etc on the tables. I had to ask the reception desk for the hotel if anyone was working in the tea room. After complaining and getting service we were served. No explanation of the cakes we were eating or the drinks. Really really disappointing. I live in Avignon so it is not a cultural difference just really bad staff. Sorry La Mirande but you let me down and my twins 9th birthday.

A stay here feeling going back in time but with the modern amenities. We stayed in room 20, which is a corner room that has a lot of light, very spacious too although the layout is a bit odd (toilet and the bathroom are separated by a very long hall way). While it was hot outside, the room always stayed very cool so my thermostat stayed at 74 but still cool (I’d imagine that it might be actually be a little cold in winter despite you can turn on the heater). The one star restaurant at the hotel was amazing! I only did the 3 meal course but the little dishes kept on coming in and each dish was so creative and delicious. The meal lasted over 3 hours but was very enjoyable. If you are driving to the hotel, the roads do turn narrower and narrower where it can be a bit nerve wracking to drive, so renting a small car would be recommended. When we leave on the last day, we made a wrong turn and almost got stuck in a tight corner. 😅. Going in and out or Avignon also always seemed to have traffic, so do plan a bit more time going in and out of the hotel. Valet could take up 15 min as well.

Since the minute we arrived, it was the Best experience!! The personnel was incredibly friendly and professional, and went above and beyond to Accomodate our requests. The Room was exceptional and Beautiful, the welcome basket with local sweets delicious! The dinner menu was outstanding! And the Grand Salon where we had breakfast and dinner, was very cozy and elegant. On our departure day we had complications with our train schedule and the Concierge was the key to sort it out. Lots of great memories of our trip to France, but La Mirande was at the very top!

Do make sure you go with an empty stomach and three hours free. The snacks were amazing and set the meal up to be very impressive. The 3 seasons was plenty for us - as you basically get 2 dishes per season plus the snacks and petit fours. Each season is also served with a different bread. So you will be stuffed. Although we had booked the garden, we were glad that the restaurant seated us inside as it was a very hot day. Even in the cool interior we were hot after a couple of hours. As our waiter said, it's a marathon..... :)

We stayed three nights in the hotel's suite, the largest and most expensive room in the hotel @ EUR1480 per night. There were many positive things but also a few disappointing + The suite was LARGE. In addition to a good sized bathroom with a big tub and nice marble, there was a good sized bedroom and a good size living room with couch, chairs, desk, etc +The views were great. There were 5 double windows across two sides of the suite, two overlooking the outside seating area of the hotel and three overlooking the Palais des Papas rear exit +The lobby area was relaxing. High ceilinged with a glass roof, good bar service for afternoon cocktails with some interesting twists on traditional cocktails +The breakfast was excellent. Large table laid with various fruit compotes, breads, ham, cheeses, and fresh juices +All the staff were pleasant, welcoming and helpful -For EUR1480 a night, one would expect a bit more than a small fridge with four "free" bottles of mineral water. There was no kettle or coffeemaker. -While the bathroom was cleaned well, the heavy curtains were all badly stained. We get that the whole point it to furnish the suite with old traditional carpets, curtains, artwork, etc but old doesn't mean dirty We may well stay at La Mirande again but we would like to see cleaner curtains and some basic coffee-making facilities in the room.

Not really my style of hotel, very old fashioned. Received poor condescending service when trying to resolve an issue (wifi didn’t work in my room and i was trying to have do some business calls). Wifi didn’t work for my entire stay and the problem seemed to be isolated to my room only so they didn’t seem to be interested in finding a practical solution and were unable to change my room. Food was just ok, location was good though
Response from Property: Dear Guest, We thank you for your feedback. Though you've found that the interiors of the hotel aren't to your liking, we are very sorry about the inconvenience that occurred with the Wi-Fi. Our goal is to fully satisfy our customers. Therefore, your comment has been taken into consideration. Yours faithfully, La Mirande*****

Do not drive to hotel if your car is anything other than small! The lanes are tiny and arriving and leaving is a nightmare. The hotel instructions are next to useless. The hotel is tired if not exhausted. All rooms badly in need of redecorating. The furniture is uncomfortable and the whole place is dark. The food is just passable but this is not a 5 star hotel. Nowhere near. Some staff work extremely hard others are just idle. Go for a meal but do not stay if expecting luxury.

I spent 3 delightful days at the La Mirande. Its location is best bar none as you have access to all the sites as well as beautiful restaurants and even the commercial areas. The room is well appointed with a quaint balcony. It was the location for the perfect finale for our visit to the south of France. The public areas are steeped in old fashion style which I just loved. Our stay was comfortable and most enjoyable. The concierge was exceptionally helpful and was quick to arrange for a taxi and so on. However, what impressed me most was that I was faced with a setback due to an incident that took place at the hotel. I shared my experience with the manager who was very quick to address the issue and to find me a solution, which was to my absolute satisfaction. I was most impressed by the efficiency in which the issue was handled and resolved. Such prompt attention must definitely be recognized and applauded. Thank you team La Mirande.
