Ah, Baltimore, a city of rich history and eclectic charm. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of a stay at the Hotel Ulysses, a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of this vibrant city. True to the reputation of the New York-based design firm, Ash, the Ulysses is nothing short of an architectural marvel. The first thing that catches your eye? The hotel's impeccable aesthetic. It's a masterful blend of old-world charm and modern design, encapsulating the very essence of Baltimore's diverse character. While the rooms might have been a tad on the cozier side, they more than made up for it with their plush comfort and attention to detail. The Ulysses truly exemplifies the notion that beauty lies in the details, and the meticulousness with which they've curated every aspect of the guest experience speaks volumes. The 19th-century charm of the Mount Vernon neighborhood is beautifully echoed within the Ulysses. The delicate stained-glass skylight, the ornate crown molding, and the preserved brass postal box serve as a testament to the building's rich history. But it's not all vintage here. The interiors seamlessly transition from the ornate influences of the Art Nouveau era to a more streamlined approach, evident in the hickory wood furniture adorned with Ash’s custom textiles. And oh, those hand-beaded lampshades and embroidered quilts! They added the perfect splash of color and quirk. A special shout-out to the carved flamingos that support the bedside tables, a delightful nod to Baltimore's own John Waters and his ”Pink Flamingos.” It's this mix of opulence and eccentricity that makes the Ulysses stand out. Booking through Trip.com was a new experience for us. A bit unconventional, sure, but it came through in the clutch. The $35 ”destination fee” threw us for a loop initially, but the $20 credit we received towards our bill at the hotel restaurant (Ash Bar) or the bar (Blooms) made it all worth it. Speaking of Blooms, what an experience! The mirrored ceiling, the crimson banquettes, and the purple stools set the stage for a night to remember. In a nutshell? The Hotel Ulysses is a triumph, an ode to Baltimore's multifaceted spirit. Whether you're here for the history, the design, or the sheer experience, the Ulysses promises and delivers. This is my second time staying at the Springhill Suites in the last 4 months. It has quickly become my go-to hotel when I am in time visiting family. The rooms are clean, fresh, and the entire staff is courteous, friendly, and attentive. Kudos to Alison the GM for running such a smooth operation !

First off, I want to say that while I have some issues with this hotel, I have nothing but excellent things to say about the staff! To a person, they were warm and friendly, from the folks at check in to housekeeping. Give credit where credit is due -- they were all lovely! Now, onto the hotel itself: LOCATION/ARRIVAL: The hotel is located in the Cross Keys complex, and you will see a sign upon arrival into the complex. After that point there is minimal signage, and all of us had a hard time finding our way: You want to drive left and go around the back of the whole complex. Parking is in the garage or lot -- there was amble there and it was free. BUILDING/ROOM: Listen, the place has good bones -- it was built in the 1960s and the architecture is fun. But the hotel itself is in sore need of a full renovation. Wallpaper is peeling, carpet is outdated, elevator is clearly older, etc. Furniture was clearly on the newer side, but still showing signs of wear. However, bed was clean and decent, and the TV was newer and allowed access to things like Netflix and Pandora, with an easy option to log out anytime (also done automatically after check-out). If you care about views and lighting, ask for a room overlooking the courtyard. OTHER ITEMS: Good wifi. Free parking. Free continental breakfast that went beyond the basics. Restaurant was not open, so you can't get any food onsite beyond the little convenience store (nothing onsite in the complex, either -- you're going to need to get delivery or drive somewhere). Some funky smells in the hallway. Not great soundproofing -- could clearly hear music from the room next door, even over our own TV. BOTTOM LINE: I hope that the new owners of the Cross Keys complex work with Marriott to invest in renovation, open the restaurant, and get more going on in the complex in general. I expect that in 2-5 years this hotel will be a great place to visit and prices will go up significantly. In the meantime, it's a fine place for a night or two for those on a budget looking to be in the area.

This is the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in, period. The whole hotel smelled of skunk and marihuana. The Ice machine room smelled of urine as if it was used very often. The front desk attendants were watching television in the breakfast area instead of monitoring who was coming into the hotel. There was a man who appeared to be homeless walking through the hotel lobby, then up the elevators and back down to the lobby. He wore the same clothes on Friday night and Saturday morning. The morning attendant on 2/19 was sleeping in the office. I had to bang on the office door several times to wake him up. When I asked for more towels I was given pool towels which were small and worn out. When I asked for more pillows I was told they only had one left but the hotel wasn't sold out. There was mold on the ceiling in hallway, our room, the bathroom. The toilet kept getting stuffed up, we were afraid it would over flow every time. When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk he said OK, didn't even fain an interest in fixing the problem. I want my money refunded immediately. We felt unsafe, we were in deplorable conditions that smelled horrible. The entire hotel, I mean entire hotel needs a tear down and rebuild it is that bad. The beds were like twin beds not fit for two adults to sleep in.

The building of this hotel has a history of 120 years. The location is on the edge of the inner harbor. The pier is just outside the window. The surrounding area is safe. You can walk around the window and watch the sunrise. The breakfast is great! Welcome to Kunshi, courteous and attentive, it is a very rare experience!

This is my first time coming to this hotel I felt very welcomed staff were super nice and professional, clean. It made me feel comfortable the room was amazing bathroom amazing I did not want to leave what I loved was that my name was on the TV I definitely will be returning again soon.

Very clean! Which was one of our main wants but it is also up to date & has nice furniture, mattress, tv & ect. Instead of little sample shampoo, conditioner, & body wash they have nice pumps of dove installed in the showers. The house keepers our very kind and will be a helping hand with anything they can. The front desk employees are just the best! They will help you, try to meet needs if anyway is possible & always a pleasure to pass by. Our kids loved the indoor pool, & comfy bed with a big flat screen. I will only use the hotel in Baltimore!

You know that experience when you notice something wrong with a hotel room and you think, ”Oh, that's no big deal, I can live with it,” so you unpack and get settled? But then you notice another flaw, and another, and another. That's what happened to our family at this hotel. I noticed the chip in the enamel on the bathtub right away, then later the hole in the wall by the towel rack that was never repaired, then the missing bar on the security door lock, and finally the lack of a stopper for the bathtub drain (this time I went down to the front desk to get one, none available, was told to use a washcloth). Are all the rooms like this? Not willing to take a chance, will go to a different hotel the next time we need to stay near BWI.

It is no different from a superior room, far beyond imagination, surprising, service is in place, very comfortable, is the ideal choice, will come here in the future, all real and effective reviews will be displayed. The hotel location is very good, right by inner habor, easy access to the harbour, there is a supermarket next to it, and shopping is very close

I am not one person to leave a review. However, I am less than pleased. The room is covered in dust. It took over four hours to cool the room down. The king size bed sags in the middle and is extremely uncomfortable. I absolutely do not feel clean in this room. The fitness center is absolutely disgusting. The thermostat in the fitness center is held on by scotch tape and it is overwhelmingly hot in there. The machines have clearly not been cleaned in a while and there are machines that have clear evidence of heavy sweat left on them. I recommend saving a few dollars by choosing another hotel nearby. There is nothing worth the price tag of this stay.
