"Chateau de la Ballue in rural Brittany is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed with none of the potential stuffiness of a hotel and all the relaxed gorgeousness of a luxurious historic home. Every window and doorway creates a work of art and the multiple award winning gardens are sublime. In my mission to swim 1k a day I found the loveliest of outdoor heated pools which I had all to myself in the soft Breton rain. The Mathiot-Mathon family and their team are light-touch friendly and if I could request one thing it would be to ask M. to extend his wonderful breakfast and tea-garden cakes to simple suppers for guests as quite honestly I didn't want to move out of the confines of the Chateau while we were there. Thankyou and we will definitely be returning!"

(If it is a large car, it is a bit difficult to enter the parking lot without some skills) Service: Because we are traveling by car, we booked the parking lot in advance. After arriving, the front desk enthusiastically drew a map to tell us the way to the parking lot. Overall, I am very satisfied and it is an unforgettable travel experience."

"The hotel was more than adequate for a short stay. Lovely, tasty food in the restaurant next door at a very reasonable price. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The location was very remote, extremely difficult to get to from the airport, involving 2 Ubers, a train and a lot of expense. The trains are very infrequent so we had over a 2 hour wait for one and the uber prices were ridiculous!"

"The hotel is next to a small river and bridge. If the weather is good, it should be a very beautiful rural scene. It's not far from Mont Saint-Michel, but it's suitable for self-driving. If you really want to take the train, it's not very convenient. In addition, many places are closed on Mondays, which is really different."

"If you wanna enjoy the beauty of Mt St Michel I highly recommend you this hotel. Located in a small city near the monument, you will have a warm welcome from the staff and you will be able to enjoy the beauty of this hotel. Its all charming and vintage style with nice stairs to go to your room (there is elevator too). The rooms are cozy and comfortable (be careful in summer there is no AC but we got the staff bring a fan to our door). The breakfast is typical french style and so good, the products are fresh and tasty. The staff of the hotel is so so nice and helpful. I definitely recommend it"

"The hotel is in a very convenient location, just steps from the bus stop for Mont-Saint-Michel. The property could use some renovations. Be careful if you're visiting in the summer months: the rooms don't have air conditioning! The welcome was warm and well-organized. The day before your arrival, they sent you an access code to park your car in the area. The only downside is that it's only valid once, so if you want to check in and then go out for dinner, it's not possible."
