Called in for lunch when travelling through. Immediately felt welcome. Warm and friendly. Good selection on the menu Nice choice of drinks. Wish we had a pub like this near us. Liked the way they had work if local artists on display too. Would recommend.

Has so much potential but sadly on our third visit since it is opened. We are still disappointed. We went there when it first opened and was not impressed. I gave them a second chance earlier in the year. It was okay and then me and my husband decided to give them a chance for Sunday dinner as really good reports about them, however, when you’re spending nearly hundred pound for a couple on a Sunday for Sunday dinner, you expect something really good it wasn’t really good our prawn cocktail they were very cheap frozen prawns quickly defrosted and when you’re charging £8.50 for a prawn cocktail you expect things to be fresh like it says in the menu, with bread and butter that the butter was already spread on the bread, but it gone soggy by the time it reached our table, been sitting on a hot plate. Usually you would expect the butter to be served separately to the bread, and now we get to the roast dinner covered in gravy very tasty gravy but again should have come separately vegetables were like they were possibly frozen vegetables but they weren’t I think just over cooked but I wasn’t sure whether I had lamb or beef to to be honest, and then when we was looking at choosing for the wine there was no prices to the wine list so we had to ask how much the wine was costing per bottle, which I think is wrong thing to. Based on this I would have preferred Toby carvery and won’t be eating there again anytime soon. It’s expensive for the quality

I recently stayed here for over a week whilst visiting relatives. The accommodation was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It is situated in the centre of Ampthill, so is walking distance to everything. I would highly recommend this pub and hope to stay here again.

I stayed here for a night when in Ampthill for a birthday party. Clean, cosy, quiet, friendly - what more to ask for? A good cup of tea and generous portion of bacon for your breakfast sandwich? Yes, got that too! Thank you to Dave and his crew for looking after me so well. I strongly recommend.

Booked last minute by email two nights for 2. Very quick confirmation reply by the hotel manager. Hotel/restaurant/bar in a recently renovated 17th Cent building close to the centre of Ampthill Bedfordshire. Plenty of parking on site and on the adjacent road - no charges. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the hosts to this family run hotel. The room was a well appointed double, very clean with a small en-suite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and had the best pillows I have yet to sleep upon (treated goose feathers). Although close to a main road the windows (original wooden sashes) had top quality secondary glazing which stopped all traffic noise entering the bedroom. Our room was above the restaurant dining area and we heard no evening noise from the diners. Generally the diners are finished by 10.30pm. Lots of clean soft towels and shower shampoos etc, kettle, tv, WI-FI etc. Please understand that the bedrooms are not large, as the confines of the historic building apply, the building does provide plenty of original features and some sloping floors. The rooms are more than large enough to give a comfortable stay. The bedroom did not have A/C (historic buildings again) but did have a new floor standing large fan for the hotter weather. The full English breakfast (order little or large as you prefer), sourced locally, was truly excellent and was as fine as you could find anywhere. Speaking to the hosts, I was sure that any query would be treated seriously as they are determined to continuously improve their establishment. An example of the host's customer approach was that on checking out, our host mentioned that they had changed their pricing structure the previous evening and he then charged me £30 less than had been agreed on booking the previous week. I was astounded and delighted by their approach. I really believe that the Prince of Wales will do well under the current family, and we will be re-visiting when staying in Bedfordshire.
