This is a modern functional hotel (which we booked via BA holidays) apparently popular for conferences, so you get the picture. Four of us went for a city break. The hotel is well situated within easy walking distance of Gendarmenmarkt. Spittelmart U-bahn is 2 minutes away. Easy and welcoming check-in. Our rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bathroom had an excellent walk-in shower although the wash basin had the depth of a birdbath. What was surprising was the amount of wasted space in the bedroom with a great void between the bed and the door which could have been used for some proper drawers and shelves. As it was, there was only 1 drawer and 3 shelves, one of which was useful only if you were 2 metres tall (see photo). The wardrobe, if you could call it that, was an open hanging space, but it was situated at right angles to a padded seat (see photo) making accessibility difficult and there was only one chair in the room. Tea-making facilities were available but instant coffee only and powdered milk. We used to take a small jug of milk from breakfast and keep it in the fridge. There was a very good and comprehensive breakfast with just about everything one could want. As a morning tea drinker I cannot comment on the coffee which came from a machine, but there was an excellent selection of leaf teas. The hot food was OK, but nothing cooked to order so that eggs were either warm scrambled or hard boiled. Staff were very helpful and dishes promptly refilled. We didn’t use the restaurant for dinner as the menu looked pretty basic but there are restaurants within walking distance. All in all, nothing special but I would still recommend it for a short stay.

City Hotel Gotland

Kreuzberg Berlin|1.3km from Columbiahalle
We booked a two-bed room and called the day before arrival to tell you we would arrive after 18:00. Fortunately, because our reservation was accidentally not registered. At the arrival, we picked up the key from the key box and went to foot (with baggage) to the 3rd floor to see that we had a single room. After a friendly lady's call, we could take the key to a double room from the treasure, fortunately on the ground floor. The ”hotel” is a normal residence where the hotel rooms are spread across several floors. At 23:30 we heard about us children's scream and trample. In total, the rooms equipped with cheap furniture have just descended. The shower was still in the predecessor's shampoo bag, and the next morning a strange hairbrush was found in my bed, which I probably had taken with my feet from the floor (tape floor) (or was it already in bed?). We found foreign hair on the sofa too. Breakfast: Of course, breakfast cannot be compared to a five-star hotel. There were, among other things, coffee from the machine (OK), musli, some plates of sauce and cheese, packed marble stores and as hot foods simple box sauces, a rush mass and broken (in the other way not stable) mirror eggs. They were lawful to cold. After the few fresh breads were away, there were those from the previous day - hardly eating. And the bread plates were still there for at least one day and were hard. From the extent of breakfast may be still appropriate, but qualitatively underground. I wonder how to evaluate it positively. Robust feelings with a hanging for adventure holiday can enjoy staying there for a night. For € 49,- I'm sure that experience is too expensive.

Everything is great except the renovations outside the building, hard to find the apartment and it’s no sign.

The hostel is located directly at the metro station Mehringdamm. So the location is great. The staff is super friendly and premature. The room was conveniently furnished and clean. The bed was really super convenient. The breakfast was rich, fresh and delicious. 1 star deduction for the very common and urgently renewable facilities. Also it is quite noisy due to the direct location on the Mehring dam at night. Whoever only seeks a possibility of staying is right here. I would stay here again.

Very nice apartment with a superb location, 2 minutes from the metro and close to a major axis and yet no noise at night. Everything you need at the material level in the kitchen but not the trace of a pepper pot or a salt shaker .. The bedding was comfortable. Small downside to the leaky shower. Good value for money.
GINN City & Lounge Yorck Berlin !New!

I booked my stay at GINN primarily based on it's location as it's within close proximity to family. Situated just a 5 minute walk between two U-Bahn stations Yorckstraße & Mehringdamm you can easily reach the city centre just a few stops away. You also have the fabulous eateries around Bergmannkiez a stones throw away as well as the beautiful Viktoria Park which is one block from the hotel. My booking was made via *********** and the booking process was simple. The day before my arrival I received a registration form via email from the hotel. This was meant to save time checking-in at the hotel as you simply needed to encode your room card on arrival (sadly this didn't work). Reception staff were able to assist and I was given the room key card. I stayed in room 104 for a 8 night duration. The room was modern, spacious & comfortable. It had plenty of storage and amenities for my stay. GINN Hotel have some really cool concepts like their GINN Mission - you get a free drinks voucher for the bar if you forego housekeeping that day. I highly recommend trying out their amaretto glühwein on the rocks in you are there during December. The only negative about the hotel was the lingering smell throughout the day in the lobby area which, I'm guessing, is from the restaurant at breakfast. I'm hoping to be back in Berlin within the coming weeks and look forward to another stay at GINN.
