Truly lovely place I was made so welcome and the owners were really helpful. My room was small but lovely and clean with a nice shower and really comfy bed. Breakfast really nice with local produce Ample car parking and just a short stroll to the shops, cafes and the lake. Would definitely stay again.

We booked last minute and stayed in the cottage suite- we had numerous contacts with reception as the reception desk is only staffed until 6pm so they make arrangements to leave your key if you arrive after this time. The lady on reception was very pleasant and helpful. The cottage itself was cosy and clean, however, after returning later in the evening, we found we had an issue with our hot water. We started to run the jacuzzi bath, got it half full, then the water ran cold. We also could not get any hot water from the tap or in the shower, therefore were unable to make use of the jacuzzi bath, which was the only reason we we booked the cottage suite in the first place. We then tried to put the heater on in the bedroom as needed to warm up following our cold bath; we could not get this to work. I turned the thermostat up to 30 however the heater did not come on. Knowing the reception desk was not manned until 7 30am the following morning, I sent an email to the property, wondering if it would be picked up so someone could come and check the issues- I never got any response from this during the night or the next day. At breakfast the next morning, the issues were discussed with reception, who apologised for the inconvenience. She then must have passed this on to the male owner, who did not offer any form of resolution or compensation. He instead insinuated I was lying about the water as he 'has walkers stay all the time who get a bath' and 'the tank has 150litres of hot water.' I advised I had no problem getting a bath in the morning but this had not been the case the night before. He also suggested the heating had not worked due to something I had done wrong- which I disagreed with. I stated I had turned it on approximately 12 hours earlier to 30 degrees, and it had not worked at all through the night. Conveniently, after this discussion and when we returned to the cottage to collect our bags, the heating had started to come on. I only noticed this due to a foul smell which wasn't there earlier- it did make me wonder if there is a mains switch or timer controlled by reception as I hadnt pressed anythhng new; the heater was already on from me attempting to get it to work the night before. I saw in another review somebody had complained about heating only being on between certain hours of the day. Other issues in the cottage- WiFi does not work downstairs- it will only connect without Internet, mood lighting does not work, and could only get 2 channels on the downstairs TV. We paid extra for breakfast which was excellent and worth it, and probably the best part of our stay. Location is also good, its a 5 minute walk into bowness.

Friendly welcome upon arrival. Our room, whilst compact, was very comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed. The bed especially was very comfy! Tops marks for having a proper dressing-table area with accessible plug sockets (often missing from even the best hotels)! We loved the personal service for breakfast and the food, cooked to order, was delicious! Within easy walking distance of many restaurants. We would return and would definitely recommend.

Our visit was fantastic. The location was tucked away near the Top of Bowness literally 5 minutes away from the first of many shops and restaurants. A location I would never have thought to look having been to the location numerous times. The service was excellent as was the breakfast. I say that it's the quietest of places we have stayed. We look forward to returning.

Great position. Very warm welcome. Very informative hosts who advised on places to visit and things to see. Room very very comfortable. Facilities great. Breakfast fantastic, I had vegetarian each morning and was tasty. Would highly recommend. Just a short stroll down to main road in Bowness and what that had to offer. Incline walk back up but not prohibitive. Would definitely book again without hesitation

This B&B is comfortable, clean and close to the amenities of Bowness while providing a quiet night's sleep and a great breakfast. The hosts are very pleasant and helpful. Car parking on the site is free. As everything in Cumbria is expensive, it is great that an oasis of quality with food value exists

Sue and the team are so pleasant to be around. They do a superb job of making you feel as if you’re at home the breakfast is divine, hands-down, perfection. The character and charm of this hotel is perfect for somebody looking for an ideal landscape and atmosphere. I had a hard time leaving this hotel;)

Found the guest house on TripAdvisor. Near the Westmorland pub up a slight incline. Good reviews about the place so decided to book. Our room was off to the side of the main house with it's own entrance no 9. Reviews stated it was spotless but I did not find it be be as clean as I was hoping. The room furniture had a distressed look to it which was fine but it still required a clean. Walls marked, cobwebs on the ceiling, dirty hand marks on the back of the bathroom door, and the back of the TV had a heavy coating of dust. The room was quite large and the bed was comfortable and wide enough for 2. Toilet made a noise once flushed which lasted a good 10 mins. Room was warm if at times a bit too warm if the bathroom door was closed. Staff were welcoming, breakfast was good but no extras offered such as cereals, fruit or yogurt along with a cooked option. Lovely lady serving the breakfast on a morning. Great location just before you start heading down into Bowness itself but a little bit of a hike for those less able and a bonus of free on site parking. All in all a good price for the stay based on some of the more expensive options. I was disappointed by the level of cleanliness in our room, maybe this was a one off as the reviews said it was spotless but I did not find this. Maybe it is a matter of opinion of what some guests consider spotless.

We booked for 2 nights we made the booking in Aug for November I sent 2 emails in October enquiring about refreshing the rooms I got no response, when I arrived I was told he hadn't received them, then suddenly he found them and told us they only refreshed the rooms every second day, if we had known that we would have cancelled we do not go away to use the same towels was dirty cups and empty bins. The carpet was not clean the shower had black bits of mould falling on your head it's advertised as a 4 star established with a licence no sign of a bar just an empty fridge in the lounge, the breakfast was good and parking was good apart from that it was definitely not up to 4 star standard I paid for an upgrade but I'm sure I did not get it we had to ask for towels but when I,went to get clean cups every one had gone home it was a joke the room does not reflect the pictures on the Web site will not be back would not recommend this so called hotel

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Westbourne, a very friendly welcome. We took 2 rooms, one was inside the main property the other was next door. Both were very spacious rooms with a large double bed, 2 easy chairs and a table in the rooms. Plenty of tea and coffee and plenty of extras should you run out, in reception. Both rooms had an en-suite showers with plenty of toiletries, and lovely large luxury towels. Breakfast was ordered the night before, good choice, fruit juice, cereals, a variety of cooked breakfast choices, toast, tea & coffee, this was served by a very pleasant lady and nothing was too much trouble. There was a lovely lounge area where you could relax with music and a few games. Great location, less than 5 mins to the centre, lots of restaurants all within walking distance, the ferry and cruises also a short walk away. All in all a very enjoyable stay and somewhere we would definitely go back too. Thank you.

Lovely little B&B in a great location. Amazing friendly and warm welcome and had breakfast one morning which was so good. Bed very comfy and room very clean. Only feedback would be the Shower dispenser was broken and would be great to have a mirror at desk. Will be back and would recommend to all types of people. Thank you

we stayed here for 3 nights. they have everything we needed for a short stay but what really impressed me was the view from the bedroom and breakfast nook. it was walking distance from the town centre and the lake. oh and the hosts were really lovely! our booking didn't include breakfast so we havld to pay extra but it was super worth it for just £7 per pax. make sure to choose the table with a view!
