Bowood Park knows exactly what they are doing with golf breaks from the hotel staff all the way to the greens keepers. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. As a large group we decided that breakfast on arrival would be a good idea as most of us set off while it was still dark outside. We arrived after 8.30am and breakfast was hot and more importantly plentiful. After we all “fuelled up for the day” it was time to hit the course. Course is in excellent condition in-spite of all the rain we have had recently, firm underfoot and fantastic fast greens. My only tiny tiny grumble is the lack of bins on the course, didn’t see one on the course until the 16th I believe (yes there is on on the first). Lack of bins does seem to be a staple on a lot of courses though. After the round it was in for cold beverages and Bowood has a well stocked and also well run bar. Dinner was the same as our last visit, proper decent, well cooked, well presented tasty food. Could not fault it. Bar after dinner was again on top form. After a few “quiet” drinks we all dispersed ready to rest and recover for the next day’s festivities. Round No 2, woke up to mist on the hills and a dew covered everything but should not of worried, Bowood’s fantastic greens staff “squeegeed” all the greens and moved the pins, hole No 2 was an extremely brutal position where a 4 was a miracle. But credit to them they have made a great and challenging course. Already looking at a return October 24. If I were to have another little grumble it would be the opening of the Pro Shop, our second day a lot of our guys wanted to get buggies and other things all sorted and paid for but there were no staff there until after 8.30am. Not a massive problem but there was no sign saying opening times, a sign would of helped. But besides all of that thank you Bowood for another successful Tuesday and Thursday Roll up Overnight Away trip. We will be back.
