9-10/2/24 Room 105 After a very long walk from the bus station in the heart of the day we arrived exhausted. A distant young man checked us in, but he became friendlier the more one talked . Maybe it is coming from very friendly Belice that the relative coldness of the Mexicans is felt. The reception was bright and decorated with fake flowers in vases in floating shelving units, quite effective. Quotes for travelers were on the wall including Goethe. The room was big and one side had plenty of surfaces to store things but only one coat hanger! There was a desk with a lamp and chair under the big Daewoo (not smart) TV which showed only satellite/terrestrial TV only in Spanish, so not good for international businessmen. For some reason the TV did not turn off at the remote so I had to unplug it. Beside it was a long wide mirror below an efficient quiet A/C unit. A small window with a blackout blind let sufficient light in. The room was lit with recessed LED ***** lighting round the edge. Late night loud talking in Reception lounge till 1:30/2 which was not helpful. This place echoes and the staff did not seem to care that guests were trying to sleep. Breakfast sweet rolls were in one box, all gone by 08:30, no refill. Coffee still available Shower was big, solid and with an overheard wide showerhead was at good pressure and hot. Extraction fan was a bit noisy. There was an annoying step up from the room to the showerroom/toilet which was a trip hazard late at night when going to the loo unless the lights were on (difficult if three staying in the room). The sliding door was very noisy and 'slammed' shut off not closed slowly. Sink and mirror had a light on the ceiling but not enough illumination for shaving. I bought my plug in bulb to fit into the side socket to help. Sink has a surface around to accommodate the washing paraphernalia. Toilet could do with a deep clean around the base as it was a bit smelly from previous male guests missing. A bin for the paper was by the toilet. Only two towels were supplied for the three of us booked in which was fine for one night for us as we are eco-friendly as much as possible. The queen beds were firm and comfortable with clean linen and relatively heavy duvet which was not used as it was so hot. There was a bedside cabinet between them with sockets for device charging but no bedside lamp (so I moved a spare one over (another was under the tv on the desk). In the morning at breakfast we tried to book ahead in the reception but the loud annoying music from downstairs, stuffiness, smokers' balcony (needs the butts cleaned out and pigeon pooh washed off the floor and ledge). The reception fan was on full blast (loud) aimed at the receptionist only (not on swing mode) so was not helping the general cooling of the reception. The internet wifi was erratic but we were forced to retreat to the room where it was quieter although the internet dipped in and out as usual. It was the same at noo
