The biggest negative: It's beyond the hotel's control, but the surrounding nightlife is rowdy. Consider the noise before staying. Booking Sunday-Thursday may save you, but bring ear plugs or white-noise to avoid staying up until 2:30 AM waiting for peace and quiet. Now the pleasantries: I dreamed about this hotel since I first saw it on KERA. Mother's Day Weekend 2021, my husband surprised me. We dropped our bags off early, parked, and explored the neighborhood on foot. When we returned at 4, I immediately felt a surge of excitement in the lobby. The staff were courteous and attentive, thinking of every comfort. My little girls would have expected a princess to live here, and I felt my inner-little-girl jumping up and down. The camera came out so I could relive this moment. Suite 7, was bigger than my first apartment! There was a small cheese plate waiting; we were offered champagne. It all made me feel so special and pampered. Then we noticed: bulbs burned out, exterior wood panels needing repair from wood rot and a good coat of paint, gardens needing ****ing, and we didn't see any other guests. At breakfast, we had the dining room all to ourselves. If I could sum it up - sad majesty. Covid hit hard. Inside, it's so quiet where I had imagined quiet conversations and the tinkling of laughter. If you have the means, even for one night, I beg you stay here. Please give this historical manor your business. I want to come again when it's restored to peak condition.
