"We played the Escape from the Forest game at the Veluwse Poort. We were a group of 20 people. Upon returning from the game, we finished off with a delicious BBQ. It was a truly beautiful location. The game was really well organized. We walked for about an hour and a half. So, it's not for those with limited mobility. The BBQ was also perfect for those with dietary requirements. Whether it was vegetarian or halal, everything was prepared with the same care. They even considered separate BBQs. The drinks system with receipts also works perfectly. Drinks are recorded on a personal receipt, and everyone pays for their own receipt afterward. We'd also like to thank Bart for his excellent guidance during the game and during the meal."

"Great view over the river, but the hotel is very noisy. Conferences were held from early in the morning until night (9:30 pm). From the space adjacent to our room came loud talking until close to midnight. We have spoken to the manager, however he did not show any understanding for the situation and how it disturbed our so desired peace."

"At the heart of a (publicly accessible) estate, 1 km from nearest bus stop, two lovely old estate houses with some blocks of hotel rooms, and a newer building with restaurant/reception and the main group of rooms. Reception and restaurant are slightly understaffed, but very helpful; even lent us an ironer & board for a special occasion. Dinner in the restaurant (half board) was a bit slow but very nice. Breakfast is underwhelming in variety for the Fletcher 3-4 star standard; main cause is lack of display space in the restaurant. However freshly made and tasty. Our deluxe room (the sole one with a balcony) was spacious enough but, as apparently many other rooms, not easily to navigate. No desk for working but a small saloon table; separate WC and bathroom, especially the latter really smallish with no shelf at all for bathroom stuff though there would be some space. It's all mainly caused by the building apparently formerly having a different purpose than hotel, and the rooms needing to be laid out using all roofs etc already present. Overall a nice stay for a 3-star price level, which should be not much over 100 euro/night for a double except peak season. As the hotel often quotes considerably more, work to do for them..."

"I would like to have dinner in the center of Deventer, the menu is not that extensive and what we ordered was okay (mussels and schnitzel) but not special. With the mussels you only got bread and sauces, no vegetables/salad. You can cycle to the center in fifteen minutes. Lovely room with good beds and nice shower, great swimming in the pool on the 9th floor, bicycles could be stored in the locked bicycle shed where they could be charged. Breakfast was great, as we are used to at Van der Valk."

"Our stay at Kasteel Engelenburg was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived at the reception, we were greeted with warmth and sincere hospitality. The grand entrance to the castle set the tone. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of champagne, this personal touch perfectly marked the beginning of a truly special stay. The highlight of the evening was the five-course dinner at restaurant Judith. It was Michelin star worthy, beautifully presented, and scrumptious. Each course was a creative masterpiece, but the dessert truly outshone; a delicately crafted sweet creation shaped like a swan, a charming tribute to the scenic setting. It was delicious and refined. Breakfast the following morning was impressive; varied, creative, and wonderfully presented. Enjoying it with a panoramic view over the golf course. Watching the swans glide peacefully across the water, was the perfect way to end our stay. This was an exceptional experience in an incredibly beautiful and romantic castle setting. Our room was comfortable. Every element, from the warm welcome to the exquisite cuisine and scenic views combined to create an unforgettable and remarkable stay. The staff’s attentiveness was evident, and it continued throughout our entire stay. Every member of the team was professional, courteous, and eager to help, making us feel truly valued as guests. The exceptional service, from check-in to departure, made it a memorable experience. We cannot wait to return. Fam Timmermans"

"It was a hotel with various facilities, but it was quite noisy inside. It was easily accessible via the public road, and there was a bus stop less than 500 meters away that took you very easily to the city of Zutphen. In terms of service, it was fine, except that when they wanted to clean the rooms around 11:00, they kept knocking loudly on the door without permission because we were still asleep and they probably would have come in if I hadn't locked it. Otherwise, we had a nice time and enjoyed the city."
