Guests; Rashy Barry and Sam We have just returned from the most fabulous skiing holiday we have ever experienced which was made possible by the exceptional hosting skills of the staff employed by Neilsons at the Del Clos Hotel in El Tarter. What exemplary attention to the needs of their guests – and I use the term guest rather than customer since that is exactly how we were treated in this uniquely welcoming hotel. The room, by any standard, was spacious and had a beautiful view of the mountains and piste runs. The beds were extremely comfortable and fresh towels were provided every day according to our usage. We were also delighted to find that the bathroom was equipped with a bidet which is very often a feature missing from most ski hotels. The public lounge area was spacious and very comfortable and relaxing with a very homely feel to it. The restaurant, which was enormous, was superbly managed and provided a great variety of choices for both breakfast and evening meals with options available for everyone’s taste. Special requests were accommodated by Sotos who ran the restaurant operation and was extremely helpful in providing off the menu meals for people with special dietary requirements including myself where a low card high protein diet is essential. Of special note was the large pot of steaming hot porridge which was always a welcoming sight first thing in the morning together with the live stand manned by Stelios, the Head Chef, who produced very tasty omelettes, fresh on demand, plus boiled eggs if required. Our meals were always attended by very personable and efficient service from either Bruno or Joachim. We always left the restaurant feeling pleasantly well fed. Special mention also to the hotel manager Juan and his assistant Pablo who were always around to attend to any issues, or problems, which arose from time to time including one situation where a guest had been injured on the slopes and transferred to hospital. Juan and Pablo provided valuable assistance and support to the relatives and helped to minimise the administrative difficulties which inevitably arise as a result of such a situation. In short, the hotel was run with the guests placed firmly at the top of the hotel’s list of priorities, and our stay was impeccably managed throughout. We have been to many places over the years on skiing trips including, France, Austria, and Italy but this has to be, without any hesitation, the best skiing holiday we have ever had and I would not hesitate to recommend the Neilson Del Clos – exceptional in every way. With regard to the skiing, we were expecting something inferior to the Alps but were pleasantly surprised to find that our expectations were wide of the mark since the skiing was delightful with ample pistes at all levels from novice right through to experienced skier. We were particularly delighted with the weather which was sunny all week and made the experience all the more enjoyable. All in all, a great week with an exce

Absolutely fantastic hotel and staff and I mean everyone, the manager, bar staff, waiters, chambermaids, receptionists, Neilson Reps, etc. they really could not do enough for you and so friendly. Made it a truly lovely experience. I additionally needed a bit extra help after suffering an injury on the slopes, but I was totally looked after by the staff, including a lift down the snowy slope to the coach in a car on departure, being collected from the medical clinic by the manager as well as making sure I had all paperwork together for my insurance claim and to be able to fly home. Thank you sincerely for the assistance at a worrying time. The whole party loved their stay, thanks again. Would not hesitate to stay again.

The holiday was generally ok but definitely designed for people who have been on ski holidays before. This was my first time skiing and it didn't feel like Neilson had thought through the customer experience for those new to this type of holiday. The recommendation to hire lockers at the place Neilson contract with for the equipment hire (Nordic Sports) is convenient for those who are confident in using the nearby chairlift (assuming it is working). Otherwise there is a significant walk to the cable car (Gondola) in ski boots, with skis. It would have been a far nicer experience if Neilson had alerted us to the fact there are lockers for hire at the cable car itself. I have no idea how anyone with small children would manage the walk. The ski school experience was far more disorganised and chaotic than I expected. The first two days involved the instructor receiving calls on his mobile to add more people to the group throughout the 3 hour sessions, so the structure of the classes felt very disjointed. I am not a natural skier but the differences in abilities with around 11 in the group (the number and people with in the group varying on each of the 4 days) made it difficult for everyone involved, including the instructor. If I were to repeat the experience I would definitely opt for private lessons (which were easy to book online) and not bother with the ski school which was not worth the time or cost. The hotel was ok. Quite basic but clean and warm, with a decent selection of food and entertainment. The people of Andorra were very friendly. I haven't any experience of other ski resorts but found El Tartar to be a nice resort albeit probably too quiet for me to want to visit a second time.

The hotel is perfectly located 300m from the lift and 200m from the hire shop which also has a chair lift right outside. The food for all meals was delicious, full English and continental, and different porridge daily. The chef is happy to cater for needs and preferences. The daily afternoon tea is a great welcome after a day on the slopes then happy hour begins in the bar. The beds are extremely comfy with 2 pillow options of firm and soft. All the staff are helpful, happy and knowledgeable. Pablo on reception, Martina in the bar Sam and Henry provide great entertainment. I'm not one for pub quizzes but it was actually fun in the bar with the Neilson guys. Met some lovely people in the bar too who were there on holiday and we'll probably keep in touch. All in all, not much could be improved. Hairdryer in the bathroom, bodywash, shampoo and conditioner, bath and shower, plenty of wardrobe space, fabulous balcony (optional by request). Lift to all floors, lovely quiet room to sit and relax. Looking forward to visiting again! The location is great a very short walk to The bars, clubs and restaurants or you can stay in the hotel as they have everything you need onsite.

Great holiday with Neilson at Hotel Del Clos over Christmas 2023. Our second time to this hotel. Hotel staff and Neilson reps were all superb. Good selection of Apres Ski, and the food (with a brand new kitchen team) was superb. Great choice at breakfast and dinner each day, with complimentary afternoon tea thrown in from 4:30-5:30pm. One of the kids in our family group suffered a fractured femur on day 4 and the medical staff and hotel team were superb in dealing with all the necessary issues - wheelchair, transfers around the resort to get crutches / medication, form filling for flight approvals etc. Great service from Neilson, as usual. Bear in mind the 5-6 min walk to the Gondola each morning (350m, just as described in the blurb). Hotel now getting a little dated and could do with a refresh, but always clean and comfortable. Great holiday, including a superb menu on Christmas Day! Will come again.

This isn't the first time we have travelled with Neilson's, but after this experience, it will likely be our last. The resort of el Tarter was sold to us by Neilsons and even by the Granvalira website itself as 'great for beginners and children', lots of magic carpets available etc. We were travelling with our nearly 3 year old on her first ski holiday. We opted to not take up the Neilon's childcare as this is pretty expensive and was only offered to us as full days for 6 days of the holiday (essentially, entire time we were there) and we actually wanted our daughter to try to get on some skis. The first day, going up the gondola we had a huge disappointment - the magic carpet/beginners area is only for use with ski schools! So there was literally nowhere we could teach our little one to ski. We were very angry about this, as we felt we had been misled by the promotional material about this resort. In the end, we ended up spending quite a lot of extra money paying for private lessons so she could use the beginners area. The hotel itself - the location is terrible, especially if you have kids. We were advised by the rep on the coach to rent the lockers underneath the ski hire shop. Whilst this might be an ok solution if you don't have small children (as the chairlift is nearby), it was no good for us. Coming back in at the end of the day, we had to lug our toddler and all our ski equipment across the (very large) gondola car park and up a very steep hill to reach the lockers. Even once we'd dumped our stuff, it was still a very long and exhausting uphill walk back to the hotel, and overall this was the worst part of the holiday for us. Our opinion is that Neilson's should have included a shuttle to the gondola as the walk to and fro was unsafe as much as it was unpleasant. Otherwise, the family room we had was nice and spacious and the food in the buffet restaurant was decent. Unfortunately our room was directly above the bar, which wasn't a huge issue except on 2 nights we were there - the quiz night was unacceptably loud and honestly, just obnoxious to have to sit through upstairs whilst praying our little one wouldn't wake up. I think Neilson's should have a think about whether they really want to be attracting families or whether its younger travellers/those without kids that they want to attract - as that quiz night was unacceptably family un-friendly. El tarter - the skiing was really nice and it's great to so easily be able to access different parts of the mountain. For those with kids like us, there is a daycare located right in the centre at the top of the gondola where you can drop your kid off, no prior booking needed, for 1, 2 or 3 hours or the whole day for approx 14 euro/hr. We utilised this for 2 hours each morning and found it very convenient. Of course Neilsons don't advertise this as they want you to use their childcare back at the hotel! However we found this option to be far more convenient and meant we could pick up our dau

It was my 4th visit to Neilson Hotel Del Closs - one week of intense skiing in February 2023 in the whole of Grandvalira. The hotel Manager Juan is clearly devoted to running Del Closs very well with a nice personal touch and you feel it everywhere. The staff working with him show at every level that they truly care and want to ensure you have a great time in Del Closs . The Head Receptionist Perica and other Reception Team staff members welcome you very warmly and offer advice and care which is rare these days in many hotels. the Reception Team and Juan also say their farewell at 4-5 am every Saturday. The food - buffet meals have improved considerably since my previous visits, the first one 27 years ago and then again in 2018 and 2019. The restaurant offers variety of meals which are delicious and very healthy. I am sure that the tremendous improvement of food quality is due to a new Head Chef who comes from the Greek island of Kos where he works in a 5* hotel in summer. In the evenings he surprises the guests with fantastic themes of Catalan and other meals. His soups, second courses, salads and deserts are a sheer delight. Breakfast are also wholesome with good porridge and everything else skiers need to enjoy their day in the mountains. I should also mention the very hard working waiters and cleaners. I am very grateful to all for enabling me to enjoy a magnificent week under their caring wings. Bravo and thank you all!

We visited over Xmas 2022 and were a little disappointed with this hotel . The staff in general were very good but the hotel is tired. The decoration is reminiscent of the late 80s , with our room being particularly scruffy . The worst part of the stay was the quality of the food . The buffet is pretty limited , the food either dried out or stodgy and lacking any taste whatsoever . We travel with Neilson a lot and this hotel really isn’t up to the standard of the other hotels we have visited with them. Needless to say , we will not be returning to Hotel Del Clos.
