We have stayed in Menorca many times including Ed Castell. First time for this hotel Although the room was small the bathroom was very good, the views were spectacular and the bed comfy. Breakfast was really good with good choices (had lunch a couple of times which was good but we never ate as there are lots of lovely restaurants to visit nearby at Cala Fonts) Hotel was bright and very clean and the pool was a good size to be able to swim Taxis were cheap and the water taxi to Mahón is worth doing We walked to Mahón a few times (if you are fit enough it’s doable) hotel was very relaxing and in a lovely location where you can watch the boats go by

The hotel is located in Es Castell - a small town just outside the capital Mahon. We had a sea view room overlooking the harbour with a stunning view. We booked half board for 10 nights with an evening meal. The hotel has a very nice pool area and staff are very friendly. The outside areas however are primarily given over to sunbathing from dawn to dusk. There are no nice areas for sitting out with a drink overlooking the fabulous views of the harbour if you don't want to sunbathe. The hotel claimed the walk into Mahon from the hotel was 15-20 minutes but I spoke to various peaple who had tested this and found, like ourselves this was unlikely given the walk was across uneven scrubland that joined up with the main road around half way. This took us well over 40 minutes. The restaurant seemed unable to deliver hot meals either at breakfast or for the evening meal where choices were limited with some strange menu combinations. Apart from the views and refurbished bathroom areas which are incredible the rooms are comfortable but dated and in need of general refurbishment. The laminate on the floor seemed to separate on a daily basis leaving large gaps between the planks. Room service was excellent but the rooms themselves were dull. Public transport in the area was intermittent and we had to travel into Mahon bus station to change in order to get anywhere on the island. The transport system seemed to shut down over the middle of the day and resulted in regular us of taxis with large variations in price for the same journey. Es Castell was reported to have a lively atmosphere around the historic square and a picturesque harbour at Cales Fonts. The whole area seemed deserted during the day and the walk to Cales Fonts was mainly down residential back streets with frequent dog fouling. The harbour area is really pretty at night with a wealth of nice bars and restaurants but we played safe and took a taxi back. Didn't stay for drinks too often in the hotel - which was fortunate as when we checked our bill we had been charged over 10 Euros for two small lime and sodas for eight of the days we were there. Overall disappointed with the location with the only saving grace the fabulous views.

We stayed here for a week towards the end of October. The hotel is in a mainly residential area so is very quiet. There were not a lot of guests in the hotel as it was getting to the end of the season but still plenty of staff on duty who were very well trained and polite and happy to help with queries. The room was lovely with a view over the harbour and Isla del Rei and we enjoyed watching the ferries and cruise ships coming in and out of port. Isla del Rei is definitely worth a visit - take the yellow ferry from the main harbour in Mahon. We also visited Fort Marlborough (walkable via lovely Cala Esteve) and Mahon (also walkable - takes about 45 minutes to get to the centre), Ciutadela and Punta Prima/Binebeca by bus. Es Castell is a short walk away and has lots of cafes and bars especially in Cala Fontes though a lot were closing for the season. The food in the hotel was good and always plenty of choice even when guest numbers were dwindling. There were singers on 2 nights but I felt sorry for them as there were not many in the audience to appreciate their performances (final ones of the season). Our room was lovely with a balcony and great walk in shower. The only slight disappointment was that there were only 2 English tv channels available Sky News and Sky Mix (not the advertised 4 BBC channel) but this was not the fault of the hotel but their service provider. So if you want somewhere quiet with great views and a good bus service into Mahon I would recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from two glorious weeks at this lovely hotel. We had a beautiful room overlooking the start of the estuary and the Isle de Rei. The morning sunrise was just fabulous! I had read before my visit that although the walk-in showers had been completed, the rooms themselves needed a refurbish. Well the bathroom is lovely. You have shampoo, bath wash and gorgeous body milk. Beautiful shower area. Such a delight! Yes, the rooms are looking well worn, but my only criticism would be lack of drawer space. If you are staying for two weeks it can be tricky to keep your clothes ‘tidy’ all piled up in the wardrobe. The hotel is blessed with the most wonderful happy staff! Thank you to all we met who enhanced our stay with their positive attitude. Special mention has to go though to Harold at the bar. A true professional! His cocktails never disappointed ! The food in the dining room was really good when we arrived. Lots of choice and of a very good quality. Towards the end of our stay, when numbers dwindled, there was still a great display of Menorcan foods, meats and cheeses. The soup was divine, and the different breads just lovely. Salads were plentiful and varied, and the puddings were scrumptious! There was still always something tasty and different to choose every evening. The chefs were continually checking the food and replacing it when necessary. Cleo and Alexander were great hosts. There was low key entertainment twice a week. Good singers, and we particularly loved the jazz trio on the last evening. They put their own take on many popular songs and did it very well. Es Castell is full of history, and we enjoyed visiting Mahon. You can either walk for about 15 to 20 mins, or catch a bus into the station. From here you can use the buses to visit other places very easily. Or walk down into the town and take in all the sights! There is a fish market and attached to it an area which does tapas and all different kinds fishy snacks. On our last Saturday there was music and it made for a lovely atmosphere. Would we return to the Agamemon? Certainly we will! The views are a delight, always something different going on.

My husband and I have just spent a week at the Agamenon and have had a lovely time. The hotel is located in a very quiet residential area, the nearest shop is about a 10 minute walk away. Cala Font is nearby but it is a up hill down all walk so those with mobility issues may find its remoteness a challenge. That said if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with great staff and magnificent view you will love it. There is a bus stop about 5 minutes away which only takes a few minutes to get to Mahon. We hired a car, arranged via the hotel, driving on Menorca is fine and there is car parking at the hotel itself. The views from the hotel are amazing, we were lucky to be in room 510 which had great views out to the Med and a lovely large balcony which had full sun until early afternoon. Room 511 has views of the whole harbour but the balcony space and room are slightly smaller. i cannot fault the hotel in respect of the staff, the cleanliness and the service. Breakfast was really lovely with something for everyone. Harold makes fabulous cocktails and is a pleasure serving you in the bar. Maybe one downside was the evening food, although varied and geared towards an adult audience, the main courses were a little 'meh' and generally served warm. The salads and puddings however can't be faulted (Could be that we just got a bit buffet fatigued). If I was going back to Menorca and visiting this side of the island I would go back without a second thought, nearly everyone that was there when were were on a second, third or more visit. One thing that really made it stand out was that it was my husbands birthday whilst we were away, and after a day of sightseeing we were rewarded by a gifted bottle of Cava in the room, it is this kind of touch that makes the hotel stand out.

I cannot praise this hotel highly enough! It's the most magical setting, and the hotel is kept absolutely spotless. The staff are all truly excellent, and so helpful and friendly, and the food is amazing, with plenty for all possible tastes - including plentiful cava at breakfast - a first! Thank you all for a brilliant week, and I guarantee we will be back.

Tried the Agamemnon as it seemed better value for money than the other two the Artiem Carlos and Hamilton both of which we’ve stayed at least twice on previous visits but are a fair bit more expensive now. The reception and check in was excellent, the staff very good and helpful, we had a room high up with the most amazing view across the bay and up to Mahon absolutely fabulous. Our room itself was ok but really needs a refurb with the wooden floor coming up and skirting boards all need replacing but the bathroom area has been done and was excellent, this didn’t affect our enjoyment as that view from our window was priceless. We didn’t eat or drink in hotel but used the very good pool area and we had a car which we parked at hotel which was handy. It’s slightly longer amble than the other two hotels to walk into Cala fonts area. Also about a 15/20 min walk into Mahon we found a path along the coast which was more pleasant than walking on the main road. We stayed for 3 days and was more than happy with this hotel. The one thing we noticed as it’s been 4 years since we been back to Es Castells is the dog fouling all over the area which is the worst we came across travelling all around this lovely island.
