Relais Santa Croce by Baglioni Hotels

On the event of my husband's 70th birthday, I reached out to the Relais Santa Croce directly for assistance in creating a memorable trip for ourselves and 12 of his closest friends. Flora, and ALL the staff at this beautiful 'Palazzo Hotel', could not have been more helpful, accommodating and sincere. They assisted in creating an amazing 5 days in Florence, uniquely curated to all our needs - museum tours, wine tours in the countryside and fantastic restaurant reservations. Besides Flora, the General Manager and the excellent front desk staff....Carlo and the Food and Beverage staff, facilitated an amazing in-suite Welcome Dinner for 12 people, special group lunches, and a kept our in-suite hospitality bar stocked and operational for 5 straight days. All these services were done with exceptional professionalism but also warm and sincere friendliness. Even though we were a bigger party, and lots of 'moving parts' we were never made to feel that any of our requests were a bother, or not achievable. In summary, although we have stayed all over the world in 5 and 6 star hotels, and in many Relais & Chateaux ....I would consider this one of the top 10 hotels we have ever stayed in in regards to service. Thank you for a truly amazing trip.

It was a very pleasant stay, although I didn't get to spend much time in the hotel as I was just in Florence for one night, breakfast was nice with variety of choices, staff were friendly and can speak English, room was clean, AC was working perfectly, everything including the duomo was in walkable distance (only like 10 mins walk to the duomo). I had to leave the room key to the reception everytime I leave the hotel which felt a bit strange at first, however apparently this is a norm there as my brothers who were staying at another hotel at the time had to do the same as well. Last but not least, you can have a fantastic view of the city at rooftop of hotel, especially nice to see the sunrise! Will definitely stay here again, highly recommended!

I booked the room. When I arrived, the landlord said that I could not live. I was transferred to another ordinary house. The room was clean and tidy but there was no air conditioning, no wifi. Ctrip customer service immediately coordinated, and Ctrip's service was very good.

The Pros: The apartment looked very nice and is modern but in my opinion, is ”more style over substance”. It was clean. There was basic cutlery and crockery, but no kettle. A dishwasher - which we had to empty upon arrival?? Breakfast is supplied by the cafe next door. There's not a huge choice available when using the token the hotel give you, but it's adequate. Staff in the cafe are friendly and helpful. Location is great, only a short walk from the Duomo and about 20 mins from the train station. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. We slept extremely well in it. The Cons: The aircon is poor. Poor aircon is pretty standard in Italy, they don't like it, but the room never felt cool, in fact, on it's lowest setting, it was cooler outside. Drainage in the bathroom is awful. We had the Raffaello room. If you take a shower expect the tray to overflow into the bathroom. We reported this immediately. They mopped it up with towels and just left more towels. It needs the drains sorting. The building is lovely but there is a persistent musty smell. Receptionist - don't know her name - was grumpy, not particularly welcoming or friendly. Not a great start after a long day of travelling. When we signed out. No goodbye pleasantries expected or received. Not easy to find as no sign with the name of the hotel, visible, either at the front or back of the building. We had to use Google and identified it by the photo of the door knocker! As stated at the start ”style over substance”. It does the job but we wouldn't stay again and we wouldn't recommend it either.
