Breakfast at restaurant was the best in our 3 week trip Roof beams and slanted ceiling made nice sized room uncomfortable

Lovely hotel on pretty square. Quiet and convenient for no4 bus. Although wide range of à la carte for breakfast, small choice of breads etc and expensive.

The vibe of this little hotel is fantastic. Rooms are clean and comfortable, great blend of modern and rustic. Location is amazing-- Fribourg is an incredibly walkable city with charming cafes everywhere, a few within a hundred yards of the front door to Le Sauvage. But if you want to travel a little further (such as to the train station, or if you just don't feel like walking up the hill) there's a bus stop right next door. I got back home a few days ago and already miss this beautiful city, and our lovely mornings spent eating breakfast and planning our day from our cozy room in Le Sauvage. Shout out to Alex who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, and who speaks English, German, French, Spanish, and maybe Italian? And another shout out to the young man (unfortunately never caught his name) who always checked to make sure we had enough espresso for the day. Love this place and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else next time we're in town. Prices are very reasonable for what you get, especially considering it's Switzerland (a fairly expensive country to visit).

I had 2 nigths there in mid April. This hotel is in my openion very overprices. The hotel I normally stayed at in Fribourd was booked so i tried this. First, it was lokated in the old part of town which means there is a lot of walking up stairs to get to the the rest of the city. second, they wanted you to pay for everything at arrival (never tried that before). Third, breakfast was not included eventhough even though the price was so expensive. Fourth, even the price was very high I even got terrible room, it was under the roof, i could not even walk around my bed in a straight position. positiv things: nice location, brakfast looked !really! nice, but i did not go for it due to stubbornness :D , hotel was nice and clean. It was a business trip, and i stay at around 20 different hotels/year around europe

This is an unusual hotel, mixing the old and the new. The location is fantastic, very quiet and still just a few steps from Old Town. The most endearing thing are the nice young people running the hotel. They were very attentive, friendly and also the restaurant staff was very attentive and generally enthusiastic to serve us.

An historic building perfectly renovated, wonderfully located in the lower part of this spectacularily beautiful town. Genuinely friendly service, rooms perfectly clean and well equipped. Excellent breakfast (don't think of saveing some Franken and get it cheaper elsewhere, it's the best deal around). A no brainer.

The room was extremely small with no air conditioning, so definitely not recommended during hot weather. We did like the location in the “bas-ville.” Hotel restaurant and lobby were undergoing remodeling which was a bit of an inconvenience as staff are not there at night.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Sauvage. My room on the very top floor was lovely and spacious. My only issue was that the light in the bathroom was dim. Other than that I loved everything about Hotel Sauvage- the amenities, the design, the breakfast, the bed and the chaise were perfect. The staff was exemplary; helpful, gracious and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in Old Fribourg.

Pretty hotel, at the foot of the old town across the Sarine on the Planche Superieur. Room was cosy and smart, though the bathroom - while a good size perfectly clean and functional - was a little tired, no doubt the next part to be updated. We were late for breakfast, but were set up for the full range of eats on offer. Monday is quiet day, so no restaurant, although the hotel was full, but we were proposed alternatives up in town. We'd go back, it's a good place from which to enjoy what the historic old town of Fribourg has to offer.
