Comfort Inn the Pier
4.1/570 Reviews
I chose this as it is one of a few hotels local to the Bell Bay indurtial complex in N. Tasmania. It is basically a pub with attached accomodation I arrived about 4pm to find the reception unattended, with a sign suggesting I register in the bar. Having found someone, I was ushered back to reception to complete registration. The rooms are good, and the cost reasonable. The restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner is typical country pub food at reasonable price. You would have to find an alternate venue for breakfast, luckily ther e are nearby cafe's and bakeries that would fulfill this need. You also cannot check-out in normal fashion, as the place does not open until noon-(would be good if the web-site mentioned this!). This is all manageable of course, if foretold.
Low Head Tourist Park
4.3/539 Reviews
We were going to the penguin tour and I didn't want to drive back to Launceston in the dark so I booked a family cabin at this tourist park. It was neat and clean, with a double bed and 3 bunks. Hot running water, heater, electric blanket, TV, microwave etc. It had everything we needed, though if I were to go again I'd probably pay a little more for one of the larger water view cabins, as this one was somewhat cramped and very close to the cabin next door, I heard their kids jumping around in the morning lol. Having said that, I slept like a log here it was so quiet without any traffic noise whatsoever, so I'm not complaining! Low Head is very quiet, be aware, not much open after dark unless you drive to George Town. I had prepared for that though and we bought our own food to heat up in the kitchenette. The owners were friendly too.
