Sunway Hotel Georgetown Penang

This hotel has an older building decor, but its location is very strategic as it's close to many depots. The room cleanliness is excellent, and the room itself is very spacious. The swimming pool is too small, making it uncomfortable for swimming. There's secure parking available inside the building. The quality and variety of the food need improvement for a 4-star hotel. The service isn't great; we had to pay a tourism tax of Rp 45,000 per room per night and a local government tax of 3 Ringgit per room per night.

Close to culinary spots, sells durian, close to everywhere.. Basically, it's very practical to stay here.

Although it's not the newest hotel, it was a very comfortable stay. The location is unbeatable and absolutely perfect—super close to everywhere recommended on social media. The staff were extremely friendly with smiling faces. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit. The location is truly amazing, highly recommended!

The room was clean and tidy, and quite spacious. I thought the soundproofing was excellent, and the front desk service was good too. The staff who helped with luggage, both coming and going, were very polite. Overall, the service was great.

The hotel's location is great, with a night market downstairs. The pool isn't big, but it's perfectly shaded during the day. The breakfast selection is limited, but the curry is excellent. The museum next door is free. Overall, though, I felt there wasn't much to explore in George Town, Penang.

Arrived in Malaysia, and specifically chose Penang as my first stop after Kuala Lumpur. Choosing this hotel made things incredibly easy. It's located in the busiest part of Penang, yet it's surprisingly quiet, so you don't have to worry about noisy motorbikes. There's a night market to the left downstairs, but it closes around 11 PM and is kept very clean. The street next door has many durian shops. You can easily get a taxi anywhere, and it's inexpensive. Plus, someone helps with your luggage upon arrival at the hotel; if they ask for a tip at your room door, you can politely decline. The hotel is clean and hygienic, and all staff are very friendly towards Chinese guests. There's an outdoor pool on the third floor that's great for photos. Personally, I'd choose this hotel again next time I visit Penang.

I appreciated the daily provision of 2 bottles of water. The basic amenities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, slippers, shampoo, and shower gel were well-stocked. The room was large and spacious, offering a great sense of openness. Furthermore, the view of Komtar Tower and the Georgetown night market right outside the window was impressive. The hotel is located in the heart of Georgetown, making it safe and easy for tourists to find. If you venture out through the alley, you'll discover a variety of famous local eateries to choose from. There's a supermarket called Gama nearby with a diverse selection of groceries, which was fun to browse, and there's a convenience store right next to the alley entrance. Upon check-in, we received welcome cookies. The staff were friendly, responded quickly and efficiently, and provided free luggage storage services. The security guards constantly patrolled, helped with moving or storing luggage, and always greeted us with a smile. Being in the center of Georgetown, most of the attractions within Georgetown are walkable. Taking the CAT free shuttle bus is also a good option. It's also convenient to hail a Grab taxi near the hotel. Thanks to this hotel, my trip to Penang will surely be a more memorable experience.
