It’s a small Onsen with few rooms but that made our stay more relaxing and comfortable. Attentive services with an eagerness to explain everything to you despite the language barrier. The outdoor private Onsen was a plus that we enjoyed very much. The downside was the aged room and toilet we got. However, this was compensated by the food that was absolutely fantastic and unsuspectly filling 😋

Onsen hotel offering excellent service, superb food and privacy.
Service was next to nothing, staff offered Salmon sushi and malt tea at no extra cost as I choosed to skip breakfast to catch up with early bus schedule. The room was very clean and quite spacious.
Dinner and breakfast was in Kaiseki style. The food was excellent, particularly the sashimi and the Hida beef (both grilled and sukiyaki).The use of local ingredients added to the uniqueness of the experience.
The onsen was not big but cozy. Considering the hotel has about 20 rooms only, it offer very good privacy and I enjoyed the public bath twice alone in my 2 days stay. Rental private bath was a good surprise and worth to try if you are traveling in pair.
Location is a bit far from train and bus station up on the top of the hill, but the the pickup service and a nice view of the mountain compensated for that.

Absolutely amazing stay at this Ryokan. We stayed one night as part of a 3-week Japan trip and it felt like a holiday within a holiday. Everything impeccable, friendly service and fantastic comfort. The meals were out of this world good, our room had a private Onsen which was amazing, but there's also an outdoor Onsen which you can enjoy at pretty much any time. Lovely stay!

プライベート感をたっぷり味わえるお宿という感じで 客室数も少なめで ゆとりのあるホスピタリティを受けられます。客室も趣のある和室中心であり、客室露天風呂付のコースを選ぶのも良いでしょう。やはりお料理はとても美味しくて 飛騨牛の味わいに感動しました。肌当たりも滑らかな温泉に浸かって 身体のポカポカも長続き。 とても静かで落ち着きのあるお部屋で ゆっくり団欒を楽しむことができました。手入れの行き届いた敷地内の散歩も有意義です。

私たちにとって初めての下呂温泉での宿泊先に選んだお宿は、懐石宿水鳳園です。下呂温泉の温泉街の東側の高台にある料理自慢のお宿です。 客室は、全部で１７室という小さな温泉宿ですが、館内は小ぢんまりという感じではありません。素敵なお庭もあって、館内は雰囲気がとても良い感じでした。 私たちは、夕食を併設されているイタリアンレストランでいただきました。メインの飛騨牛のステーキはもちろん、見た目も美しい料理のコースに大満足でした。翌日の朝食が、とんでもない豪華さなんです。大きなテーブルにたくさんの料理が乗ったお皿が並んでいます。もちろん、どの料理もおいしいんですが、ボリュームも満点。全部いただくと、おなかはパンパンになり、この日は夕食まで何も食べませんでした。 下呂温泉の泉質もいいですね。ＰＨ９くらいだというアルカリ性の温泉は、お肌がつるつるになりました。 もちろん、接客も申し分なくて、評判の良さの通りの、評判以上の素晴らしいお宿でした。

懐石宿 水鳳園は、下呂温泉の中心街から少し東側の高台にある、「懐石宿」の名前が示す通りの料理自慢の宿でした。 部屋数は十数室という数なので、滞在中、ほぼ他のお客と会うことすらありませんでした。ロビーも、素敵な庭園も、温泉も、ほんとに独占状態で、客室内はもちろん、パブリックスペースも居心地がとてもよかったです。 お楽しみの夕食は、併設されているイタリアンレストランでイタリアンのコースをいただきました。もちろんメインは飛騨牛で、レストランの雰囲気も、料理の美しさも、もちろん味も申し分ありませんでした。 夫婦でのんびりくつろぐには最高の温泉宿ですね。
