Lovely pint and good act on in beer garden spoiled by large bucket on table top for cigarette ends . I removed and put on floor behind me but few minutes later member of staff put it back again . I explained I was a none smoker and found smell from bucket offensive . Refused by saying regulars knew where it was . Moved it again when staff member had gone but was put back again . Table opposite had small bucket under table but not asked to move it . Anybody using large bucket on our table would have to lean over or reach over possibly dropping ash etc near our beer . We drank up and left .

What a great pub this is . Just had Sunday lunch which was amazing as always . Shaz and Di really look after their customers and are particularly caring towards anyone who needs help . Great food ,great drinks and most of all great people ❤️ If you are in Knaresborough and want a top class Sunday Lunch -do go in. (But not too many people please ,in case there is no room for me )😁

Please be VERY wary about staying here ! The bedroom itself was very good - clean & comfortable and the location of the hotel ideal - so that's the positives out of the way. At the time of my booking, there were three websites available to book a room (including booking dot com) , now the latter is not used. Out of the other two websites, the price for a single occupancy on a Saturday night is either 90 or 95 pounds - and both state that breakfast is included (& it says it on my receipt), but when I got there, he said it would be an extra £20 - I showed him my receipt and he made some story up about that it wasn't his website - but obviously the money I paid thru the site had got to his bank account and he knew we were turning up - so in my mind it was his website and he should have honoured it and included breakfast !! As I didn't have the best experience, I thought I'd write a review on "his" website and although there are 133 positive reviews on there ... there isn't an option to add one - which seems a bit suspicious (!), hence why I'm leaving this one here. If the websites/receipt stated it was £95 and didn't include breakfast, I would have probably still stayed and this review would have been a lot more positive AND we would have probably stayed in his pub in the afternoon supping his lovely Timmy Taylor's beer ... but because he lied to me (& swore at my mate who was in the same situation) we didn't spend anymore money in his pub - he easily lost £75 - £80 worth of business because of his rude/negative attitude towards his customers.

Avoid this place, utterly disgraceful attitude from the guy who works there. He showed us to our room which was ok. In the information pack it said we had to pre order breakfast by filling in a form by 7:00pm, which is not a problem. On asking at the bar for a form is when his attitude got worse, he was about to tell us the prices for breakfast and I said we got breakfast included and tried to show him the confirmation email from *********** His words to me in the bar area as pulling our drinks, “I do not give a sh*t what is on your confirmation you are not having breakfast at that price, if you want it, they’ll be another £35 and it’s 08;30 in the morning” I was completely taken a back and shocked with the language from him. He continued to mumble and then walked away, never came back to discuss the situation. What an awful experience we had.

We have just returned from a weekend stay. Arrived on Friday, went in to the pub and spoke to the barman. Very helpful and explained where to park the cars at the rear of the premises, also show us to our rooms. Are room was No. 1, which is on the ground floor. Fantastic room, plenty of space, good bed, shower, slept like a baby both nights. Had ordered our breakfast on the pre order sheet, breakfast was superb, great produce and red hot. The bar is a proper old school type, great drinks and full of locals and tourists. Bar staff very friendly and answered any queries we had. Pub is in the perfect location in the market place. Great landlord and landlady and staff, even the cleaners had a smile!! We will be back.

On first arriving the barmaid was pleasant and gave us information about the room. which was room 5. The room was quite dark and we needed the lights on most of the time we were in there. The TV is about laptop sized. We had booked for 4 nights and were disappointed when I asked if we had to book for evening meals to be told that they don't do food. The nearest car parks were just out the back of the pub but had a max 4 hour stay which began at 8 am so each morning we had to be out there to pay at the meter. It was the first time I have ever stayed anywhere that you have had to pay for more coffee and tea in the room if you run out. The mattress needs replacing you can feel every spring. Breakfast is served from 8 to 9 at 15 minute intervals except for Sunday when it is 830 only. Choice is full English, scrambled eggs on toast or bacon/sausage sandwich and has to be pre ordered by 7 the previous evening. On the second morning I had ticked full English for myself and scrambled eggs for my husband. when he took the order down he asked if it would be possible to have scrambled eggs on the full English instead of fried and was told she would ask but couldn't promise. The next morning The full English had been scribbled out and we both got scrambled eggs on toast. When I queried this I was shown the sheet and told this was what they were given. The shower was very powerful but the tray was surrounded by black mould. The occasions we had to pass through the bar and beer garden the language was pretty choice from the customers, unsuitable if you had a young child with you. On the Sunday evening my husband went down to the bar to get a couple of drinks for the room to be told that they were closed, fortunately someone on the other side of the bar seemed to have something to do with it and agreed that we could be served. Even on checkout there was no apology over the breakfast confusion. The best part of the stay really was the pub dog. I understand this is a b&b and not a 4 star hotel but the general attitude seemed to be these are our rules and if you don't like them tough. Not really a customer focussed experience.

Nothing negative can be said, rooms, food, staff and location are all spot on. Would definitely go again, sooner rather than later. Given 4 stars as nothing is absolutely perfect. Clean and friendly place to stay.
