The establishment features friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms with cozy beds, and a convenient location near Hereford. However, breakfast availability is inconsistent and sometimes misleading, despite its affordability and well-priced bar.

Lovely looking property, friendly staff when I arrived on site, check in at the bar on the right. Room 2 was clean with good facilities, hairdryer, mini fridge, TV. Choice of hot drinks and some biscuits. Clean towels provided and lots of pillows. There is a small wardrobe in entry way. Lovely room facing the back of the property away from the road. Only issues for room 2. Sensor light out in entry and bathroom but didn't cause any issues the rooms were still well lit without. In the bathroom the temperature adjustment guage needs fixing, it's very stiff and hard to adjust.

I found this little gem whilst looking for a place to lay my head whilst visiting family. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms are large and comfortable. Very clean and tidy and decorated in keeping with the Victorian gothic vibe. I didn't get chance to eat but the menu looks what you would expect in a country pub. Great value.

Very nice rooms, decor with very friendly staff and locals. Room was nice and warm, well appointed bathroom with great water pressure in shower. Food was great and staff went the extra mile. Bar was good and locals were very friendly and chatty. Would stay here again.

Place and location are easy to find from hereford. The food was very nice. Nice family meet up. Will be back. Staff friendly and welcoming. Nice since being redone. The floor tiles are lovely. Also, a hotel to stay the night. Nice selection of food and puddings.

Was booked in for two nights under a group booking with a few friends. Drove past the pace and eventually came to the conclusion it must be the hotel.... no signage at all, apparently it blew down in a storm? Check in was OK however later it transpired that the hotel had tried to charge the bank card of the person booking the hotel rather than paying on check in as requested. Disappointingly there was no hot breakfast however there was a 'hamper' in the room with fresh milk, orange juice and water in the fridge. (we were told the shop up the road sells bacon/sausage rolls) We didn't eat breakfast on morning one because we ran out of milk and the premise is unattended overnight until 10am. We had 2 cups of tea & 2 cups of coffee and that was the end of the millk. The next day we asked for more milk however on returning to the hotel the room had npt been serviced because we had the only key. We were left 2 bottles of milk, however when considering breakfast we found there was only 1 cereal bowl and a plate???? There was a limited supply of cereals in boxes and enough granola in a jar for 1 person. If both of you wanted granola/wheetabix etc you were out of luck. There was also a pack of spread & jam yet nothing to have this with? The room itself was ok but the road noise was intrusive - our room looked out onto the main road. The bathroom had only bath towels no hand towels so forced to use your bath towel to dry hands/face. It was shower over bath and, the temperture was difficult to get right. We ate several meals here and the food largely was good honest pub food apart from the mashed potato which was clearly dehydrated/frozen and not the best? Service was good with staff being very pleasant and responsive. Parking & WiFi was free, and the city was a short cab ride away.

My partner and I travelled from Suffolk to stay at the Godwins, as we were visiting family. I had contacted the hotel on 3 occasions, as my booking had only mentioned one adult, but after sending two messages no one replied. I then called and spoke to the manager Jo, who assured me our room would be made up appropriately for a couple. However, when we arrived this wasn’t the case and the place just felt understaffed and has a stressful atmosphere. The member of staff that checked us in said there wasn’t anything he could do as he was doing everything, including the cooking etc, and we were left in a twin room. Being pregnant, and after a 4 hour journey, I was exhausted and unimpressed. There were also dirty mugs and teaspoons left in the room from a previous stay and the side panel of the bath was broken. I also felt there wasn’t many options on the food menu for vegetarians or vegans, and I didn’t feel comfortable asking after the harsh responses we’d already gotten, so we ended up using deliveroo. Although it was overall a stunning property and a lovely room, we were disappointed with the lack of attentiveness from the staff and just general poor attitude, poor service and communication. Even when we said goodbye on check out, no one seemed bothered and we didn’t feel particularly welcome there. We wouldn’t stay again unfortunately.
