Happy Life Grand Hotel & Sky Bar

Ho Chi Minh City|0.22km from Cong Vien 23 Thang 9
Booked this particular hotel as I wanted a pool. Although a little overpriced. Went to the skybar for a drink, no menus on table, was shown drinks menu in a electronic tablet, ordered a small tiger beer. Thought it was 50k, ordered another 1ltr tiger draught 250k, again overpriced, but thought would be easier. When asked for the bill was given total of 542,850! They charged 120 and 350k for the drinks, AND tax on top of that! Queried and argued with manager who agreed to give me 20% ”discount”. Paid in disgust, to sort out with hotel manager in morning. Aircon in room not cool at night. Called to have it looked at nothing they could do. They put up a sign on lift in the morning advising pool cannot be used until the following day due to a wedding! Had they told me yesterday pool was unavailable I would not have checked in!!!! Spent 2 hours with asst manager and telephoning manager, asking for a refund or extended checkout. Would not provide. Eventually agreed to extended checkout after a few hours. This hotel/bar falsely advertises facilities, could have advised pool not available, then STEALS from guests by advertising a price and charging something completely different. I have not experienced anything like this in any other hotel I've stayed in anywhere in the world. Ohh and today was advised doing lift maintenance, will be 30 mins, 4 hours later no lift, had to walk with luggage from 6th floor. No hotel staff assistance. Eventually got correct change from drinks money stolen AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Unfortunately I read the reviews on Booking.com and didn’t check my trusted trip advisor like I usually do, We have been traveling since the beginning of January through, Thailand, Cambodia and now Vietnam and it’s not our first trip to these countries, it is however the first time styles, standards and service have been extremely disappointing. We arrived at this hotel around 15:55 with a check in time of 14:00. I had already informed them of our time of arrival and they had replied confirming it. On arrival Reception staff stated room wasn’t ready because of late checkout, I asked them for another room to which they completely ignored me so I asked for the manager. I told her I wasn’t happy paying for someone else’s late checkout and to arrange another room regardless of whether it was an upgrade of just a basic room as I had looked on booking.com and there were plenty of room, she said we will clean it as quickly as we can, 30 minutes later and 3 cleaning staff seen leaving the room it was ready. Totally unacceptable. Positives- Excellent cleaning staff and porters. Comfortable bed Television with English channels Good quiet air-con Safety deposit box a good size and actually screwed down which is quite a novelty in Asia. Very well located for the main sites in Saigon. Negatives- Rude an inexperienced management and reception staff. Steep steps leading in to the hotel One lift for the whole 12 floors which was full on numerous occasions, if that goes out of service it’s a long walk down. Room very tired especially in the bathroom. It actually felt like you were sleeping in an office with the style of the wardrobes. Very inventive photos, the pool is nothing more than a plunge pool with 4 sun loungers but in online publicity photos it looks massive. The sky bar happy hour was far from it, buy 2 get 1 free, we only paid for 4 half pints at a cost of £15.60 and the 2 free after a barrel change were undrinkable (I even changed the barrel for the 2 guys working as they didn’t know how to). No table service until you went up to the bar and ordered your drinks. Breakfast was cold and tasteless, you had to ask the staff for tea/coffee, at no time were we offered these or any form of eggs, the whole area was nothing more than a shambles run by very inexperienced staff. I must say they tried their best and the lack of service and standards is completely down to bad management. I didn’t use any of the other services they offered so I can’t comment on those. Being retired Publicans and restaurant owners we go through the hotel channel first to try and rectify any bad feedback and when it falls on deaf ears then to comment on here is truly justifiable.

In fact, it is not so easy to find, from Hainan chicken this road is impossible to enter, from the coffee shop, just in the middle of the small alley, will also pass the name massage shop miumiu; another just happened to meet the market in the city A large piece of land is being built, and it has to be around to get past. It is not very convenient. Fortunately, the lively place of Fanwu Old Street can be reached in about 10 minutes. It should be emphasized that in English, English is not very feasible, even the numbers will not understand, the English of the service staff is not bad, the room facilities are introduced, although the room has netflix to see, but in the room The time will not be too much, but unfortunately, if there is a film, then it would be fine. After staying for two nights, I have to leave the night train. The store also allows the show to be in the evening. The hot weather can be cold (only cold water) and it is quite good to go to the car. I hope that the store business is booming.

Cute, modern and clean boutique hotel in District 1. On a busy vibrant street with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. It's in the older section of Ho Chi Minh City, so you get to experience the more ”authentic” part of the city versus the newer, more modern areas. Check-in was easy and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I was at first a little concerned with the hot and stuffy elevator and hallways. But once in our room, it was really nice. Large room, simply but nicely decorated and very clean. In room safe, large TV, fridge. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. A/C kept the room cool, but will turn off if you remove the room card from the room. If you go out, your room will be hot when you get back, but it cools down pretty quick. Beds were a little firm (which I prefer) and very comfortable, with comfortable pillows and sheets. I slept great here! Bathroom was modern and clean, and we appreciated all the provided amenities like toothbrush/toothpaste, Q-tips, shower caps, comb, lotion etc. Very nice! One negative; there's no shelf in the shower to put your soap, shampoo bottle, wash cloth, etc. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of Western and Asian choices. Lots of different fruit juices, teas, coffee and there was an omelette station as well. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would gladly stay here again.

Thanks for giving me nice experience. Staffs they can speak English so I felt safe and comfortable to stay. Not dirty at all. I arrived early before check in and staffs took my belongings safely, thanks again.

The new name is red doorz hotel. First impression was okay. No daylight in the room. Could be positive for noise and daylight. Airco was not functional, no hot water. Hair everywhere. Not proper cleaned. At check out, not one word spoken. The key was grabbed out of our hands and the turned around. Bizar...
City by Night Ben Thanh Apartments

This hotel is in a central location only 10 minutes walk from the main beer street and the night market however it is very quiet. Sophia was amazing even before we arrived at the apartments. We received a text message the day before advising we had been upgraded to the panoramic apartment which was amazing. We were sceptical as nothing ever looks like the pictures. However, the apartment was amazing!! it was very spacious and clean and the view was beautiful. It was amazing watching the sunset from our bedroom. The only negative is the pool area. Whilst it is a rooftop pool it was extremely windy due to how high up you were and there were no sunloungers at all. We ended up having to book into a nearby hotel to use their pool for the day ( the service there was amazing and would look to stay there in the future too) There is also meant to be a roof top bar however this was closed for the duration of our stay. I am not sure whether this is due to re-open but something to consider. If I were to visit again I would probably look to stay in district 3 as overall it is a bit nicer but also more expensive for hotels and food and drink.

The customer service of the hotel is very good. The service of the hotel housekeeping staff was excellent, our room was cleaned every day. The hotel is in a great location, close to Ben Thanh Market and Halal restaurants. The hotel's wifi has a wide coverage and a strong signal. But be careful when you cross the road in Saigon, it is really dangerous to cross the road here.
