Put a blanket in the room, so I can actually chose how I want to sleep and actually have hot showers and decent pillows!!! Had non scary critters in my room. Front desk unable to arrange excursions. Will come back to the country. Unlikely to stay here.

Friendly, helpful, responsive, polite staff. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious. Rooms have an in-room refrigerator. Open air lobby has wonderful large fans for a full-time breeze. Restaurant (Haydn's) food is averagely good, and made-to-order. Gardens are very well-maintained. Oceanfront location, nice view of islands, but access not for swimming. Ocean water looks very clean; didn't see any trash in the water. Adjacent properties are various light industrial properties, but not obtrusive or loud. Separately run oceanfront open-air bar/bistro on the property. Not walkable, so consider the resort to be your one-stop shop. (We didn't use the ****** facilities.)

We stayed in the luxury waterfront villa, it was very nice but a few things were not as they described. First off we had the unit that was closest to the ocean but when you looked straight out of your room what you actually saw is the side of the restaurant, you could also see the ocean but the restaurant being the first thing you see wasn’t ideal. We also were expected a working jacuzzi but it was empty of water and smelled because the lid was closed and with it being hot and humid it smelled bad. I asked the front desk and they said you have to tell them ahead of time if you want to use the jacuzzi, there wasn’t anything on the reservation that told us we needed to notify them beforehand. The villa was very nice and had plenty of room, comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom plus it was very nice to have a fridge. The food at both restaurants was good and there is a ****** but we never went there. Staff was very nice and helpful. It is a nice place that I would stay at again!

Your feedback concerning the Luxury waterfront villas is duly noted and i apologize for the short comings on our part. We do not leave the villa jacuzzis full for sanitary reasons obviously ensuring the safety of our guests is of paramount importance and to avoid being wasteful with water they are not automatically filled up upon check in. Again, my apologies if this did not meet your expectations. The Jacuzzi itself takes around an hour to fill up, and another hour to reach optimal temperature. Not that long of a wait in my opinion however, we all are going to have different expectations when it comes to these things. I will address this concern with my staff and will remedy for future guests. I appreciate your positive feedback as well! This will be passed on directly to my department heads and staffing group. Really great hotel. The restaurant is fantastic, food is delicious. The rooms are well equipped with everything you need down to coconut oil for body/hair and great shampoo/conditioner etc. Bed is comfortable, aircon and fan available, strong Wifi. The second time I stayed here the shower was a little dented (handle had come off the tap in the shower and not fixed) - but this is forgiveable because it was still usable, the shower head was great and the whole stay was so relaxing. My only two suggestions: 1) is to make the airport shuttle SBD 100 per party, not per person. Me and my colleague paid SBD 200 even though our rooms were on the same booking under my name and we arrived and left at the same time - just because we had separate rooms. Get a taxi if you're a group and in different rooms. 2) Movie nights in the restaurant area are very loud and it's hard to keep conversation going when Blood Diamond and repeated gunfire noises from the movie is going off in the background 😂

Welcoming and friendly staff. Very helpful as well. Comfortable bed. The restaurant serves beef imported from Australia. The evening concerts can be a little disruptive if one is trying to get to sleep early, but on the other hand are very entertaining if not. The rooms are well maintained. When I was there the pool was undergoing major maintenance and thus unavailable.

During my two stays at this hotel, I encountered a range of issues that left me deeply dissatisfied with my experience. While the first room presented no problems, the same could not be said for the second room, which had an uncleaned shower. However, the primary reason for my one-star rating lies with the hotel's manager, Alan, who consistently demonstrated a lack of honesty throughout my stay. One of the key attractions that initially drew me to this hotel was its advertised pool (as seen in the photo). To my dismay, upon arrival, I discovered that the pool had been under construction for an extended period, a fact noted by other TripAdvisor users. It was particularly frustrating to find that the hotel had not updated its profile to reflect this situation. What compounded my disappointment was that no one informed me about the pool's closure upon my arrival. When I raised my concerns with Alan, he claimed that he had informed me about an alternative hotel pool I could use. This statement was not only false but also left me perplexed as to how I would access this alternative pool. Upon checking out, I uncovered further inconsistencies. It came to my attention that other guests who had shared the same shuttle as me had been provided with a $50 credit. Regrettably, I was never offered such compensation. Only after I inquired about it did the hotel promise to issue a $50 refund to my credit card (as evidenced in the attached photo). However, this promise was later revoked, with the hotel insisting that they could only provide the refund through a wire transfer or Western Union, incurring additional charges on my end. Alan, never provided a refund. Furthermore, the hotel's explanation for the breakfast situation contradicted previous statements. They stated that I had received a free breakfast due to the pool situation, which directly conflicted with the previously mentioned promise of a refund. Alan's signature on the card only added to the confusion. In summary, my stay at this hotel was overshadowed by the ongoing lack of transparency displayed by the manager, unfulfilled promises, and an overall disappointing experience. It is important to note that no one informed me about the pool's closure upon my arrival, compounding the frustration of an already unpleasant stay. I urge prospective travelers to exercise caution and consider these issues before booking a stay at this establishment.
Response from Property: Hi Janice, I have received a quick brief from my assistant manager, Mr. Allan Lee on some of the issues you have highlighted here. Firstly, having read this horrible review, it is clear that you have made good on your threats of posting a rubbishing review on the property should you not get your way. It was clear from the offset, even prior to your arrival that your expectations were that of, in my opinion, an unreasonable nature - Particularly, your communication with reception staff. They really do try their absolute best and your email correspondence, prior to check in, clearly shown that you were not at all polite and were in fact rude. Upsetting the receptionist whom was just trying to put you in contact with a tour operator as per your request. The temporary pool closure due to refurbishments has been posted both on our website and our social media channels, upon check in ALL guests are informed on the status of the pool and offered payment or reimbursement as well as transport, to use another pool facility within Honiara, any of your choosing. To claim this information was not made clear to you is a disappointing and false statement. Regarding the un-claimed refund, the other guests were provided with a room credit, moreover a food & beverage voucher to be used at the resort, during their stay, for reasons other then what you have stated Janice, you have therefore demanded the same compensation, (Upon Check out) irrespective if the same issue was applicable to you. To which it wasn't! - Given that it was agreed to provide you with a $500 SBD refund, I have requested a copy of your banking details for a wire transfer or telegraphic transfer to which we also offered to cover the $30 USD fee you claim, you would have to pay. Still refusing - the option of a western union transfer was presented and again dismissed. Janice, we cannot help someone whom doesn't wish to help themselves. I will be the first to try and make amends should my staff or management team make a mistake and or be in the wrong, particularly with guest grievances, given that my assistant manager told you, you would receive the refund, is the only reason I agreed to facilitate it. – However, there also comes a point when they need to be defended. In this case Janice, staff and management have tried their absolute best to please you and ensure your stay is a memorable one, however, your reluctancy to do anything other then be an unreasonable guest at every corner makes this very difficult. I can see from the many number of reviews you have posted, you are indeed, well travelled and I can also see that a number of other operators / establishments have noted how pleasant you are to deal with. Coral sea used to be a lovely hotel with great amenities - unfortunately the quality has gone significantly down hill. Mould growing on the lamp shades, holes in the walls.. etc. For this particular trip, the entire hotel was booked out as friends were getting married! All of us paying around 350-400 aud per night. Unfortunately we arrived to the pool being empty (for 6 weeks). It was approx 35c every day. There was no prior notice of this. No offer or room upgrades, discounts, no apologies- nothing whatsoever. The staff, including the manager, were nothing but rude and unaccommodating, trying to charge for everything they could wherever possible. A once 4-5 star hotel is now a 3 star hotel at best. They can get away with this because there is limited competition. I advise staying at Heritage Park. Staff there are kind, polite, the rooms are good and the pool is full and functional.

Bad surprise in arriving. No pool because of maintenance and very noisy day. No place in all the aera for spending time without noise ( noisy room too). Without warning by email! I don't recomend this hotel for a few weeks.
Response from Property: Hi Marilyneb660, Thank you for your recent review of our property, upon checking into the hotel, you were advised of the pool works currently under maintenance and in turn, you were offered transport & payment to use another pool facility around Honiara, any of your choosing. The pool works are in operation from 8am until 4pm daily until the works are complete, ensuring that early morning and in the afternoon there is no construction works to be heard throughout the property. You have in turn refused to pay for your accommodation, threatening a bad review on trip advisor should you not get your way. I am glad you have, in the end, settled your accommodation bill as per booking confirmation however was disappointed to see this review appear. The one star review you have left reflects on the overall product we have on offer, not just the pool. Should you be returning to Honiara any time in the future, please feel free to contact me directly via reception or i wish you all the best at one of the inferior hotels available. Staff was friendly and helpful. They let us check in several hours early on short notice. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant had several food options and wait staff was friendly and attentive as well.

Modern well equipped room. The pool was very dirty. The area in front of the sea-front restaurant is completely under construction. The whole property stinks of cigarettes - people smoking everywhere.
