The service and cleanliness at the hotel are top-notch, the staff is polite and very helpful. We were greeted very warmly. There's a paid shuttle from the airport to the hotel and back, so the journey was comfortable.
The room itself is huge and beautiful, with a wonderful view.
There are several breakfast options, but the online checkout system is inconvenient: you have to re-enter your email address and walk several steps each time. It's better to do this through the TV or a simpler method.
The nearby beach is small and dirty, and the swimming area is fenced off and also small, which feels confined.
The pools and beach close very early – at 5:00 PM.

The check in was very easy, as was finding the location along of the villa on the beach. The condo/villa is absolutely stunning with a view of the ocean that cannot be beat. We appreciated the gorgeous sunsets, the pool and soaking tub on the 2nd floor balcony, and the outstanding views of the beach and island (Yojima) in the distance. The beds were some of the most comfortable we slept in while in Japan. We deeply appreciated the amenities - breakfast and food delivery (sausages, veggies, fresh bread, eggs and drinks) upon arrival, and found the layout of the house was fantastic for our family of 5. With two sleeping areas downstairs (kids), and an upstairs master bedroom (parents), we had MORE than enough space. One thing we would have liked about the location description online is an understanding that there is VERY little near by in terms of restaurants, convenience stores, etc. Depending on the weather, not much is walkable within 15-20 minutes. We ate at the Taco Rice restaurant, and walked 30 minutes to a local supermarket, and we drove the other places we needed to go. Also, the general impression we got from the website was that you can access the beach directly from the villa - sort of a, ”walk out to the sand” idea. You cannot. There is a 6-foot wall that separates the bottom floor of the villa with the actual beach area (needed for water level rising during storms, we get that :))... but there is no way down without jumping, nor a path to the beach (from our #3/C Villa, at least). We ended up jumping down the retaining wall using their small gate, walking around to a local business area that had a clear path, and accessing the beach that way. This was fine, don't get me wrong. Also, while the view is spectacular (and it really is), there is a TON of rebar from a former construction project (unfinished, we asked around) that sticks up out of the ocean at low, or extremely low tide (both of which we experienced while visiting - the extremely low tide happens each new/full moon, we were told). When this occurs, the beach stretches for 550 yards. We were able to ”walk and explore” (careful of course of the coral!), but for 1.5 days, we had a view of tons and tons of rebar sticking straight out of the sand, that stretched for 100s of yards in each direction. Again, this did not ruin anything, but it would be nice to know when booking a pricey room. I think the views are outstanding, given the timing you take the photo :) Overall, we would likely not stay again for the price, but it was a relaxing and splurge-y way to get that Okinawa sunset in at the end of long trip (5 weeks) in Japan. We are grateful for this adventure and my shared experience in this review is simply to help families understand more about the property. We traveled in mid-July. Thank you!

Guest UserWe were welcomed warmly by the hotel staff. One of the hotel staff (feeling bad for not getting their names) brought us to our room and showed us our room amenities. The Premium Suite is very big and there is only one such suite in the whole hotel. The Suite comes with a balcony, living room, bedroom, futon area, large bathroom and a separated toilet. The balcony faces the beautiful sea. The only downside during our trip is that the sunset was covered by the clouds.
The dining area is on the 2nd floor where our booking included one full-course meal for both dinner and breakfast. The staff will ask for your preferred dining timing during the check-in. Our futons were set up during our dinner time. We got to eat a good variety of dishes during our meals, and the food was very good and fresh. The staff also tried to introduce each dish in English. Thank you.
Hot bath/onsen and steam room is located on the 1st floor. Not sure if everyone is enjoying the bath within their room, it was pretty quiet during our visit. We did not notice any gym or laundry facilities though.
Price aside, it is definitely highly recommended for families and larger group of friends who likes to enjoy the hotel stay and amenities. You will probably not feel like travelling out after stepping in.

Good hotel, with a great room and ambience, and has great lobby lounge and free drinks, the pool is also amazing.
Hotel service is good, but can slightly improve to be even better, as staff seems a little unsure in English sometimes but they do try their best so that is nice, mainly just nitty gritty details can be improved (e.g. no one waiting at the hotel drop off during arrival, or staff just watching us unload the luggage ourselves, or not leading us to the hotel lobby but instead having us walk ahead and figure out where to go). Also note that there is no gym / workout facilities. Location might also be a little hard to locate as you need to go into a small alley up hill, and the entrance is located in sort of a back alley of another hotel, but it does eventually open up to a small drop off.
Car park is great though, direct to room. And the room again is 10/10.
Overall, a good stay experience, will go back again for the good, comfortable and spacious room.

Just as you'd expect from a Hoshino Resort property. The place was spotless, and the amenities were excellent. Beyond the in-house cafe, the food trucks parked outside offered a great variety of dining options, giving guests more freedom of choice. My only slight surprise was finding a small insect in the room, but given the natural surroundings, it's probably unavoidable.

The room was larger than expected. There's a self-service water bar on the first floor, which is very convenient. Unless you have special needs, you don't need to buy water or drinks during your stay. There's a beach just across the street, just a few minutes' walk away. The water is excellent. You can even see the ANA fireworks show at night. There's a bus stop right outside the door, and the airport bus stop is across the street. Transportation is convenient.

Guest UserAlthough it's an older resort, it's very clean and the service is excellent. As I'm pregnant, I'd requested a non-smoking room in the special requests section. They not only offered valet parking every time but also provided a pregnancy body pillow. It was also great to be able to check room amenities and activity statuses via a QR code in the room. Breakfast was superb!

Value for money. The room was spacious featuring a tatami area, a large bathroom and a kitchen. *No pots or plates etc* A convenience store directly opposite and many restaurants within walking distance. Free parking is also a great bonus. Despite being located on a main road, the room was quiet and comfortable. Decent playground next to it, good for family with kids. There are also few diving centres around the corner.

We stayed 5 nights at the Beach Resort Kalakaua in a Family Cottage. It was a good size for 2 friends and all of our diving equipment; comfortable, and spacious! The room was clean, and we were given enough towels and toiletries to last 5 days. The location was walking distance to the beach, a few restaurants, and right by the 7-11 which was super handy. We had a lovely stay, but wished that there was somewhere we could hang our wet swimsuits and diving gear, either inside or outside the cabin.

Excellent location and service, the location is superb, being close to not only beaches, but also in-between Yomitan and Onna (and OIST university, if you'd like to visit your friends). There's also a combini right next doors(!. Cape Maeda, Zakimi Castle is also all at cycleable distance!
