Sarissa Hotel

Istanbul|2.09km from ELLEK ALCI DEKORASYON
This hotel is obnoxious! Main problem is they do NOT respect your room as your*private space while you are here. I did not feel secure at this hotel at all. I booked Sarrssa hotel following eye surgery at Birinci Goz (an eye hospital right next to the hotel). I thought it would be a good idea to stay right next door to the eye hospital for a week while I recover. The hotel is overpriced, is dirty, everything is in poor condition, the staff spoke no English, and they were were obnoxious . I had problems from the instant I got there to the moment I left. I am writing this review from the hotel lobby with hastily packed bags, waiting for my taxi to airport, because I was just thrown out of the room I had just stayed at for 8 nights while packing to check out at 11 (which I had assumed was checkout time since that is a normal checkout time at US hotels.). Apparently checkout here is 10:30, not 11. I didn't know that (remember I speak no Turkish and they speak no English). So they sent, not 1, not 2, but 3 (!) goons up to my room at 10:30 to demand I either get out or pay another night. I had stepped out while packing to get a cup of coffee, came back at 10:30 to finish packing, and found 3 guys in my room looking at my half-packed stuff. I didn't know who they were., but it turned out they were hotel staff there to throw me out at checkout time. ***? A phone call wouldn't do? Or a polite visit from 1 person at reception? No American hotel would treat a guest this way. But let's back up. On arrival I had to demand 3 different rooms until I got one that wasn't drastically overheated by broken radiators that would NOT turn off. I finally got one that was a comfortable temperature. I unpacked and made myself at home. The next day I went out for lunch with my stuff spread out like I'm at home, e.g. medications needed for my eyes post-surgery sitting on the bathroom counter alongside the soap, shampoo, etc. Well, the maid had come through while I was out and tossed my medications along with the part-used soap and shampoo etc. I assume she just swept everything off the counter. into the trash without looking Also everything else in the room had been re-arranged including important documents I had spread out on desk next to my computer and a couple documents on the bed. I didn't know what else had been accidentally tossed out. I ran down to the lobby (”don't clean my room any more! please nobody come in to my room!” typed into Google Translate). They just smiled and said I need to take it up with the housekeepers. Not their problem. OK, great way to treat a guest. Then I went back to Birinci Goz and got replacement meds. OK, so next day: before going out I went to the housekeeper and typed into Google Translate ”Do NOT clean my room!” and showed her the translation. She appeared to understand. Then I went to lunch. This time I took the eye meds just in case. Well, the instant I went, she went into room and cleaned, against my wishes. This time I came b

Expoist Hotel

Istanbul|2.12km from ELLEK ALCI DEKORASYON
This was my first ever trip to Istanbul. I work in the field of exhibitions and my visit was specifically to attend a trade exhibition at Tuyup (the expo convention center). Istanbul is huuuggggeee like any other country and since I had zero knowledge of the geographies, I took suggestions from fellow travelers on TripAdvisor and my local partner in Istanbul. I had a choice between Expoist and another property close to the expo center. The reviews of both the hotels were almost similar however, The Expoist was offering a better deal. The hotel is about 45 minutes to an hour from the new Istanbul airport and that would cost you around 30 Euros. At check-in, I was offered a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room. I was offered the room on the top floor with the view of the city side. Although the location is really far from the main city/tourist attractions, its located in a good location if you are traveling for business. The hotel is close to a metro station if you would like to see local transport. There are two malls, a gas station, furniture stores, cafes, restaurants, apparel stores, etc in the vicinity. The room was absolutely neat, clean and pretty spacious, I won't rate it as large but accommodative and comfortable for a solo traveler or a couple. The bathroom is decent but the bath area is really small like a pod. So kind of gets congested if you are large and tall. The room comes with all basic amenities, a mini kitchen with a microwave and basic kitchen wear, a wardrobe, instant coffee, and tea, bottled water etc. TV would play only one English music channel rest nothing in a language I could understand. Not all staff members speak English, but the staff is friendly, accommodating and cooperative. Wifi is really good across the hotel. The language was a major problem in this side of the town, there was barely anyone who could communicate in English. At the metro station, all instructions are in Turkish so one can barely understand or figure out a way to go about using the local means of transport that was really cheaper compared to the taxi. The terrace on the 8th floor offers a fantastic view of the cityscape. Breakfast offered at the restaurant on the 8th floor of the hotel was really decent and amazingly delicious. Not an elaborate spread but was sufficient and delicious. If you are a vegetarian, I am sorry u have very limited choice. Cereals, bread varieties of accompaniment and french fries, fruits, tea & juices.. which by the way is pretty sufficient for a small eater. Overall it was a comfortable stay. As mentioned tourist attractions are all really far but there are two really good Malls in a 5-7 minute distance from the hotel. PS: Make sure you carry an international adapter, Turkey / Istanbul have very different sockets. The hotel does not provide any adapters.

Okay, it's not too high-end, the facilities are outdated, the proximity to the exhibition hall is the biggest advantage, and the breakfast is rich! OK in other respects

This my 2nd time booking in this place, the 1st time It was okay , except the parking, One day I was living the hotel, I know my car was outside the hotel, but I couldn't find it, I ask the Reception about my car, they told me It was towed away, I have to walk to where they took it and pay 120lt for it, and after I finished my trip in like 3 month they changed me money they took it from my account for a car Violation, that I have no idea what is it for. The 2nd time, the room is dirty, the sheets had yellow spots on it, the tea pot was rusty from the inside, I decided to Check out, they refuse to pay my money back for 12 days and they was rude and Liar. I told him I'm going to put a bad review he start laughing in my face and he said (OK). The location of the hotel is very good and close to Metrobus. The hotel staff are very polite and kind. Their service is excellent. The hotel was excellent in terms of facilities, convenience and service. The aircondition system was a little tricky but after two days they repaired it. Breakfast quality is normal. Every day the same breakfast is repeated the day before and has no new choice. Jams and olives were not so good. The coffee maker has only three models of coffee. Breakfast at the four-star hotel should be much better But if you go to this hotel and need to rent a car, don't rent a car at this hotel because their cars are uninsured and they rent at a very high price. So if you do a little damage to your rental car, they will double the amount of damage you get So it is best to rent a car from other centers or on arrival at the airport so that everything is legal We didn't know that and unfortunately we rented a car from the hotel and they cheated us and took a lot of money from us. We are very upset of management of rental cars. they are not good behavior. and do not want others to suffer like us, so I said this to be careful.

The breakfast tastes good, and the variety is even better! The lounge area in the hall is very spacious. The hotel is on the main road, with convenient transportation and several stops from the TUYAP Convention and Exhibition Center. There is a big shopping center and supermarket from the hotel two or three stations, very convenient!
