Blue Mountain Home Stay

Kathmandu|0.46km from Rukmini Mini Mart
Well, I was lucky enough to stay at the Blue Mountain Homestay post covid in Sep 2022. I had a great time and stay. Buddhi the owner makes you feel very welcome like part of his family. He is thoughtful, attentive and friendly. He is able to arrange most things and has the knowledge to do this. I stayed in a very nice comfortable room which has been recently renovated as has the property. The room had a ceiling fan, plenty of lighting options, a big 2 way sliding window, a very comfortable double bed, a table and 2 chairs. There was an en-suite bathroom which had a shower, basin and toilet. There was plenty of hot water and towels. The room and bathroom was clean and presentable. Just to put things into perspective, In Nepal accommodation in general isn't quite up there compared to Western accommodation. So be prepared to manage your expectations. But saying that Blue Mountain Homestay for sure is one of the better places in the regard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The stay includes breakfast which was very nice it includes 2 eggs any style, 2 toast, jam/butter, fruits and tea/coffee, you can also take cereal/porridge. Blue Mountain Homestay is located about 5min walk from Thamel, which is where the tourist part of Kathmandu is which in turn is quite chaotic and busy, but the location of property is ideal as it's quieter and away from the mayhem but close enough. There is plenty of space and seating areas to enjoy. It was a delight to eat outside in the warm sun while listening to the birds singing. I would recommend staying here if you want somewhere friendly, clean, good honest service, nice food, brilliant atmosphere and good value. Thanks Blue Mountain Homestay.

I love the hotel staff here!! Everybody so accommodating to us from getting extra towels, fans, or extending our stay in the evening until we fly out. The chicken sausages are better than the other hotels we stayed in. I love having local fruits with my yogurt in the morning and omelette with tomatoes. If you are looking for a location close to the shops but away from the busy traffic and tourism, this place is perfect. It is off a main street but within walking distance to the shops. Great value for comfortable stay in Kathmandu. Please talk to Bikash Phuyal. They are very understanding and super helpful or have a chat with them and learn more about Nepalese culture, politics, economic, or recommendations.

The overall environment is ok, but the room in the standard room is too small. People stand and occupy the entire space. Individuals do not recommend booking rooms. You can book a bed.

Lakhey Hotel

I am on the tail end of an 18-night stay at the Lakhey Hotel in Kathmandu, and I can honestly say that it has been WONDERFUL. I've gotten to know many of the staff, and they all are warm, friendly, and gracious. The hotel has only been open for a couple of months, and it is spotlessly clean, kept that way in part by one of the hardest working housekeepers, Sumitra, that I have ever seen. The staff head, Rajesh, and his assistants, Raj Kumar and Ram, who also multitask with cooking, greet me every morning with a warm welcoming. They all will make you feel like you are part of their family. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, off a busy street, and conveniently located near the touristy Thamel area. The rooms are spotlessly clean, modern, rather upscale, but very economical. The hotel does not have a restaurant but provides a GREAT breakfast that is way beyond what they call a ”continental breakfast” that one would get in America. Freshly cooked to each guest, it includes eggs however you like them (I loved the omelet!), freshly cut fruit, veggies, potatoes, toast with butter & jam, juice, & coffee or tea. And there is a restaurant right next door for other meals. I had never stayed at the Lakhey Hotel before, but I can highly recommend it, and I will surely return in the future. Enjoy your stay ... you won't regret it!!!
