Golden Circle Apartments

The apartment was spacious and had what I needed to cook. The bed was comfy. Easy parking. Check in was easy and clearly explained. However, the door handle was loose making it really hard to lock the door. The shower head wasn't attached to the wall so I had to hold it to shower. There was a big hole on the tiling by the shower. Essentially needs repairs but to the point of inconvenience so personally I'd probably not chose to stay again.

The apartments are in the perfect location to explore the Golden Circle sights and the town they are in has a couple of nice restaurants to use. However, the apartment we were in was desperately in need of renovation. Some stuff was aesthetic - like cracked tiles or dead flies smushed in the window blinds - which I suppose isn’t too big a deal really. But some stuff was more serious and affected our enjoyment of our stay. The bathroom was particularly bad - the shower head was broken so that you had to hold the shower and shower with one hand. My husband managed to rig it up temporarily with a shower curtain hook but we were so worried it would fall down, it made showering quite stressful! Also the flush on the toilet kept jamming so that the cistern would keep filling up and would have flooded the bathroom if we didn’t manually stop it after each use, which was also stressful. The apartment clearly just hasn’t been renovated for some time. I’ve just seen reviews a few weeks before us which list the same thing, and also I messaged the owner. So clearly they are aware - hopefully this means that they will fix things so that this isn’t an issue for future guests.

This was my second time staying at the Golden Circle Apartments and I will come back for sure. The apartments are both clean and cozy. Location is perfect and the prize is very fair. Highly recommended.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago. The actual apartment area was nice. The bathroom was a total disaster. The tiles were cracked. The shower head was broken and no longer affixed to the wall. The flush button would stick and the water would continue to run. They have put no effort into fixing the bathroom, and there are better places to stay for the price.

I had high hopes due to how much it cost. While the apartment itself was comfortable there were a number of issues in the service that contributed to an overall negative experience. Firstly, on arrival the key for my assigned apartment wasn’t in the key safe. So I had to cross over to the hostel to enquire, and was assigned a different apartment, told that sometimes people leave and take the key with them. Though just minutes later I saw someone cleaning my original apartment, so it was clear it just hadn’t been ready on time. Secondly, there were a number of lights not working in the kitchen and bathroom. It wasn’t a huge problem for me - unlike for my friends in another apartment, where none of the bathroom lights were working, so the management’s solution was to place a floor lamp in the bathroom, with the electric flex snaking across the floor! I was gobsmacked! And thirdly there were so many passive aggressive notices around the apartment, stating rules and threatening surcharges for various misdeeds, I felt like I was being admonished from the moment I arrived. Unfortunately there aren’t many accommodation options in the vicinity so they can probably get away with such poor service, but please take my advice and find somewhere else if you can.

This was one of the best places we stayed in during our 25-day Iceland trip. There was a lovely spacious living room, a large comfortable bedroom and great shower. Kitchen was well equipped, and it was very easy to cook in. There was a fair view of the lake and plenty parking. There was nothing negative apart from it not being particularly cheap.

A Great place to stay , everything was perfect nice location , very easy access to fishing locations, warm and cosy rooms, this is our fifth visit here and we will return next year 5 STAR accommodation at very reasonable prices
