Nice food, albeit they were leftovers from the Sunday lunches made into curries. The curry was fairly priced at £15 and were very tasty, but the drinks are a bit pricy and the leftover desserts from the weekend were very overpriced. £8 for a small slice of lemon tart.... hmmm.

Went for Sunday lunch with my partner. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and lounge were very modern, comfortable and spotlessly clea with a nice atmosphere. We both had the beef brisket. I ordered mine with no broccoli so they gave me 2 helpings of red cabbage which was a nice touch. I thought the beef was really nice although it was slightly chewy. At £18.50 I thought it was a bit overpriced particularly as there was a charge for extra gravy. One pig in blanket (which was extra) was £3.50. Based on this visit we would be unlikely to return.

Wow, Sunday roast was gorgeous. Home cooked and delicious taste, the beef brisket was amazing! The closest to a ‘home cooked roast’ we’ve had at a restaurant, the combination of the vegetables work perfectly too. Service was excellent, highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed here with friends as we were going to Zip World. We cannot fault anything and had a lovely two night stay. It provides very comfortable accommodation, a lovely bar area, and fantastic food. Curry night on a Tuesday a must! Steaks the best we’ve had anywhere. A special mention to Gill who never stopped in her approach to customer service and attention to detail. She was extremely friendly and we really felt like locals by the time we left. An excellent place to stay. We are planning a longer return visit to explore the area further.

Highly recommended this restaurant but let down by many aspects. The service was good but the food was disappointing broadening on very poor. The broccoli was barely cooked so really tough. The chips tasted like old rancid cooking fat. We were never asked during our meal how it was. The desert was ok. Decaf coffee tasted like old instant coffee. At paying, this was mentioned to the servicing lady who walked away through our comments and came back with a 15% discount on our bill. She did not want to listen to us it seemed. She did later say that the guys in the kitchen had nothing to say about any of our concerns. The taste left by the chip fat tainted everything afterwards with. Fishy taste. I would not recommend going here.

We spent a night here when heading into Bangor to visit our son. Oh what a find! Its just 6 minutes from Bangor and an absolutly gorgeose country pub. The rooms and the whole place are very smartly decorated, well equiped cosy and clean. The log burner in the lounge area was wonderful to sit by after our drie up with a refreshing beer, and we were personally greeted by Milo. We had a full 3 course meal in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, the menu had a good choice and I especially enjoyed the sizzling Welsh steak with rice , that said the Burger was pretty good to, and oh the scallops to start were great to! The following day we partook in the traditional Welsh cooked Breakfast , which was nicely cooked and piping hot and all tasted great, and just the right amount to. Overall a Great place to stay at a reasonable price, we will be back.

Below par food. Sunday lunch poor, beef dry. Pork belly soft and chewy. Definitely won't be going again. Had a gift voucher as a present from a family member (£100) before covid and couldn't go, so left it until now. Voucher expired with no expiration date. So had to pay twice for crap food! Also rude staff, avoid. (Don't usually write reviews but feel as if I had to with the poor food and the voucher issue)

Myself, husband and son stayed at The Slate the other weekend. We were warmly welcomed by the host and shown to our room. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The host advised there had been an issue with the heating and provided a fan heater for the room, which was much needed as it was less than 13°C inside when we arrived. We opted to eat in the restaurant in the evening. We had pork belly, beef brisket then Bailey's cheesecake. The starter and main were fabulous and beautifully seasoned. Only let down was the Bailey's cheesecake, which seemed to lack Bailey's. Service was attentive at the beginning of the night, but did wain as bigger Christmas parties arrived. We had breakfast in the morning which comprised of cereal and a full cooked breakfast, alongside juices and got drinks. We would have appreciated some fruit as an option, but the cooked breakfast was very tasty. It was an ideal spot for our family and we were made to feel very welcome. We would visit again.
