This is a block of serviced apartments, not a hotel. Friendly helpful staff, minimalist art-deco furnishings, clean and well equipped kitchen, decent size, very functional. #214 is a 1-bedroom corner unit overlooking the street. Quite noisy on weekdays, especially with motor scooters, but quiet by night. Fast free wi-fi. I imagine the rooms would be stuffy in summer, but the main and top window panes do open. Good location for an 8-minute walk to trains from Sloane Square and South Kensington, and buses on Kings Road. Bus #19 was our preferred transport if you don't want the crush of the train.

Sleep quality poor owing to the noise outside (bins and deliveries throughout the day). Pleasant stay otherwise, the porters were very helpful. We felt secure at night too owing to the rigorous security patrol and checks by Gregory. Great location for museums and beautiful surroundings in a stunning "village" in London.

If you require parking this is not the venue to stay at, even though they mention that parking is available on site, it is run by a separate company. We were forced to pay £70 per day.

The building and staff were excellent . However the studio we had had not been properly cleaned . It kept having electrical faults . Also it should be made clear on the advertising it is a couch that converts into bed with a not comfortable mattress. It is a lovely area to stay in however

I booked a one bedroom flat for a few days, but got moved around. I assume there was overbooking. The manager was wonderful about it, and very kind, even upgraded me to the penthouse for my last 2 nights in London! Now, as they are owned by different folks, I assume, I had a problem with one of the studios which was dirty and moldy. They had nowhere else to put me, or would have moved me. The other two were fine: the penthouse was beautiful, clean and modern. As a single woman traveling I felt safe with the building, and left my luggage when I got in too early to check in. Everyone was helpful and kind. I'm staying again in a week.

We have just stayed here for five night. Booked through AIRBNB, we were in apartment 524 overlooking the front entrance. A very basic apartment with a little kitchen and necessary utensils to cook for yourself if you want, the fridge came in very handy. Bed was comfortable, had no trouble sleeping. The free wifi worked well. Bathroom was ok, had a bath which is handy sometimes, plenty of nice towels and we loved the heated towel rack. The unit had a washing machine, dryer which we used once , that came in very handy. The guys at reception were always friendly and helpfull. The lifts in the complex always worked well. Agree with others the front entrance and nice foyer is better than what you get inside. Love the statue of Nell Gwynn above the entrance, there is a great historic story with that Lady, worth checking it out. Quite expensive for what you get but then it is in Chelsea London. Handy to the two stations, easy to walk to the main shopping area. We found the little supermarket across the street very handy, visited it each night .

It is always a joy to stay here, my home away from home when visiting London. Bright, airy rooms. Plenty of light due to the large windows and snug and warm in the winter (bathroom towel warmer is greatly appreciated. ) My studio room was spotlessly clean with fresh towels, linen and toiletries. The small kitchen made it possible to cook meals in, with pots pans dishes and cutlery. Sainsbury’s is across the street. But the most attractive draw is the helpfulness and friendliness of their staff. From the front desk porters to the employees in the back office, everyone works to make sure you have a pleasant stay. A special thanks to Fernando and Marco who help me with all my questions; even looking up the timetable of the Heathrow Express and summoning cabs. When my stove top malfunctioned on a Sunday morning Fernando made a call to Doris one of the household staff who is available immediately to solve the problem. Michelle and Andrea were also helpful with any questions. In this day of so many choices of accommodation, customer service can make or break a place and Nell Gwynn shines.

The check out date was wrong. It took for ever to correct. The room was far too small and had no facilities, as expected. The air conditioning was not working and was never fixed. A simple electric fan was provided. Totally unacceptable. In 7 days never cleaned the room, collect garbage nor change towels. The room was in a basement, with a tiny window facing the street. The description of the room did not match what I had expected. The only positive thing is the location. I did not enjoy my stay at all. Office personnel were not attentive and could not care less about my concerns.

Be *extremely* careful when booking rooms/apartments here. I booked through a third party and ended up with a room that was basically a large prison cell--NO WINDOW, about 40 square feet/8 square meters, a twin bed, and almost no space to sit down. If I had known that's what I had booked, I would be less upset, but this hotel/apartment booking agency seems to make their reservation system deliberately confusing. I have read responses to negative reviews this hotel has received, and they consistently blame the customer for not realizing they are reserving a "pod," and not a hotel room or apartment. If you look over their websites--both for apartments and for the pods, they *both* show rather charming and spacious apartments. There is NO indication anywhere that you are booking a tiny space with no window. My booking company tried to make it right with me, but only after having a lot of difficulties communicating with the people at Nell Gwynn. Indeed they have very inconvenient office hours (they didn't even show up to their posted Saturday hours), and it is very difficult to meet with someone face-to-face to discuss the issues with the room. At best, this is lack of transparency and unclear websites. At worst, this is deliberate bait-and-switch, with little options for guests to get help. In addition to the above, the downstairs area with the "pods" had grimy carpets, grimy walls, my air conditioner occasionally blew out large flakes of something black, and there is not housekeeping if you are staying for less than a week. The neighborhood is gorgeous, the lobby is gorgeous, but it seems like a crapshoot whether you will get the kind of accommodation you think you are booking. It's concerning. I would not recommend booking with this property.

We booked this “luxury accommodation “ for my daughters 21st visiting from Scotland . Upon arrival all seems nice . Beautiful building from the outside and main reception is nice . The room however was another story . It was unclean !! Mould in the bathroom Around the taps and the plug holes . Mould on the walls , toilet pan was dirty as if it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . Apartment had the smell of stale smoke / uncleanliness despite it being a non smoking apt !! Very poor for the money paid ! No clean towels despite staying for 4 nights !! No space to move when the sofa bed was down . Kitchen area was dirty too with the utensils /dishes basic and unclean . When leaving we had many bags . Asked the reception to call us a taxi . He said there’s one at the front… it was already booked he just couldn’t be bothered to call a taxi ! Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Not great value for money unless you pay all that money for location and a dirty apt is what to expect !!

It was a terrible experience right at the beginning of our stay because when we arrived to the room, the pillow cases, linens and duvets were dirty. I headed to the reception and asked for a replacement with clean ones. They said that they cannot replace them because they don't have access to the clean ones. They even said that I should sleep on a dirty bed for a night and they were going to sort it out the day after. How on earth they can ask such a thing? Then I said I would file a complain and then I wrote the name of the person at reception on a piece of paper. The name of the porter was Reynaldo which I read on his name tag. Reynaldo suddenly changed his mind and found me clean sheets, pillow cases and linen within 10 minutes. The bed should have been clean in the first place and Reynaldo only sorted it out after realizing I was going to file a complain.

This review is related to apartment no 314 and its management office.. First of all, I would like to mention our deep disappointment with the management of this holiday apartment..I think they are predetermined to find your simplest fault or minor mistake in order to charge you a ridiculous penalty without looking at their own shortcomings such as extremely deformed mattress, blocked drainage and broken lamp. They charged us 50 pound for one small towel which has my wife's hair dye traces on it. While this can be easily eliminated with normal standard wash or could have been purchased from the market for few pounds, they preferred to penalize us brutally.. This is extremely opportunistic approach and it carries lot of malevolence. I find this type of act "ill will" and urge people who intend to stay in these premises to be extremely cautious or not to go there at all.. Very sad and extremely disappointed !

The good: • Position in Kensington with access to Tube stations, buses and Kings Road area • Nicely appointed apartment with all the appliances one would want other than a coffee machine • Reasonable pricing for this part of London The bad: • Ground floor apartment with a “view” of a service yard (described disingenuously as an “Inner Courtyard” on ***********) • No air conditioning or ability to cool apartment down and no ability to leave windows open whilst out due to security risk • Officious front desk staff with no power other than to give out keys and refer everything else to “The Office”. With so many guests virtually impossible to check on who keys were being handed to…. Bad security risk! • Descriptions on *********** allude to “free toiletries” and toilet paper. This was enough for three days out of 12 and never replenished • Television package was clearly the cheapest and worst on offer • Noise levels from other apartments till 02:30 quite bad and frequent. No interest from front desk as to the issue • Deposits of £500 and £350 were taken unannounced from credit card with £500 being reversed when complaint lodged • Refund of £350 only made when this was raised as an issue 8 days after departure • Trash disposal was our responsibility This is clearly an establishment that seems to find customers an irritation and is run on a rule book with only the owner’s interests taken care of NEVER AGAIN!
