Malia Mare Hotel

Staff are amazing, couldn’t do enough for you, bedrooms are clean and tidy, cleaned every day. Breakfast is stunning. Location is brilliant, you are right in the centre garden is beautiful.. WiFi all throughout the hotel. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back again.

BASIC but clean and in a beautiful Position close to the old town and the beach Staff helpful but you have to pay the air condition daily. Rooms are clean and spacious enough, close to restaurants snd shops

Again a great stay, 2nd time , what a super family. ..feels like coming home.. Super clean ( ladys your'e the best💋) , bed , breakfast, lunch, the whole environment makes you to want to stay for ever and never go back to your'e country again.. we will be back asap

The hotel was lovely the owners were so friendly pool bar excellent only had to ask and it was opened . The room was pleasant the bed and pillows were so comfortable. Breakfast was what you would expect for a continental breakfast it was enough pleasant seating area. The sun loungers were so comfortable altogether a very nice family owned hotel.

Ratings: Hotel **+ Very clean. Nice public areas. There is no lift to the upper floors. Basic breakfast, but reasonable. The single 2 slot toaster isn't sufficient! Extra charge for air-conditioning was a whopping €126 for 14 nights = €9 daily. There is an additional charge for the safe too. This particular area can not cope with toilet paper being disposed of down the basin, so a bin is provided for soiled toilet paper & is changed daily. For those with post checkout late flights, there is a free toilet & shower facility downstairs, which is spa like - Shame the bedrooms don't match this. Bedroom * Basic, bland & in need of a revamp. The bathroom was small, tiny shower with an awful shower curtain. No TV, no tea/coffee making facilities. Storage ok with clothes hangers provided. Poolside ***** Excellent. Reasonale size pool with jacuzzi. No ball games are permitted. Swim up bar which great snacks & meals freshly prepared fo order. Very comfortable sunloungers & shaded seated area. Pool table. The pool area improved our hotel rating from ** to **+. Staff ***** Poolside barstaff were particularly friendly & helpful. Cleaning ***** Rooms serviced daily. Fresh bedding & towels at least every 3 days. The hotel is situated between the famous ***** and the quaint old town. Whilst a 2 minute walk to either area, there was no noise from the *****. We went in September when the colleges & universities had gone back, so the guests were generally older couples, but in the weeks before there is a mix that may shame the vibe from sedate to lively.

Just back from a week stay at the Malia Mare , Jet2 advertised this hotel as a 3 star , its more like a 2 star hotel as advertised on the actual Malia mare website , just beware of the air-conditioning prices of 9 euros a night , the hotel itself is outdated and needs a revamp. The breakfast is cold every morning and when we complained the rep said he would sort this but it was never sorted , we ended up eating breakfast out .The shower in the bathroom is ridiculously small and the shower curtain sticks to you .The only thing I would say which is good about the hotel is the pool area , it was lovely and the food around the pool was lovely .The family that runs the hotel are lovely so it's a shame the hotel itself let's them down .It's not very far from the ***** and Mr Dish down the road is lovely for food aswell .All in all I would definitely not stay here again. This is a fantastic family run hotel. Do not be put off by the bad reviews - yes the shower is small but put a towel on the floor and leave the curtain open then all is good. Beds and towels changed every day. Perfectly clean and tidy, breakfast was OK, pool bar food was good and the drinks even better. Will definitely return with my husband

Positives first - Pool side - the pool area is excellent! Poolside bar and food delicious! Loungers very comfortable and always available! Pool with jacuzzi luscious and relaxing! Staff in this area were very pleasant! Beds - comfortable! Great nights sleep so no complaints there! Location - very close for bars, shops and restaurants so location is ideal! So why only 3 stars?? Negatives - Added charges - when you arrive after midnight to be greeted with extra charges for things you consider standard such as air conditioning (€9 a day!) and safety deposit box (€20 non-refundable) it is a little shocking! The room itself was stifling so in my opinion air con is essential at this time of year. If this added extra was just incorporated into the room charge then it would not have jarred so much paying it in your opening moments and at a necessity required in order to get some sleep. Bathroom - tiny, tiny shower with an icky shower curtain which clinged to you unbearably after the most minuscule of movements. No toilet paper down the toilet (a few places in Greece like this) with which I am personally not a fan! Towels/bedding - only changed every 3 days. Towels not particularly large either and while clean where not particularly new or absorbent. Power points - the room had two plug sockets! Two!! And one of those was for the fridge! The only other plug socket was very awkwardly placed in behind the two single beds that had been pushed together. We luckily had a 2plug multiport but even that is not enough in todays digital age! Also the plug socket that we did have seemed a little questionable at times! Breakfast - really not good. We survived 3 days before deciding to head somewhere else for breakfast. Even things like toast were bland and a toaster that burnt the bread most times! Poor quality ingredients. No indication of what many of the foods were. What we could not understand is that the food at the pool bar was truly wonderful and it made you feel that the quality was only lacking in the areas that had already been paid for! So in the end it had good points but I do feel that photographs and images are somewhat misleading as to what you end up showing up to find! Be cautious about that when booking that all might not be as it appears! It is a little tired in places! But must say the pool was top drawer!! Worth a stay, just manage your expectations!

Had a great 2 weeks here 30th Sept to 14 Oct, bit quiet in Malia. Hotel was great, rooms cleaned daily, nice breakfast able to eat outside, had a front room over reception looking over street, old town 1 way and the sea the other. The pool is massive with a lovely pool bar with snacks available, family run and very friendly ideal location as Old Town just across the road or a 10min stroll to the beach down the main *****.Very pleased would defo come back again.
