Hotels near Gunung Mulu National Park in Marudi

Wow, wow, wow! A wonderfully warm and enthusiastic welcome from JJ on arrival at the Marriott began such a wonderful stay. JJ was also amazingly helpful in organizing tours within the National park. (Special thanks to Marc who shared our anniversary with his team.) Our room was available on arrival and stunning! Super comfortable and luxurious bed, large bathroom with separate toilet and shower plus lounge room (room 100). Large fluffy towels, iron, hairdryer, water, tea/coffee machine (including coffee capsules). The location of the room was right on the river and in close proximity (though no noise) to the restaurant and bar - perfect. Wifi is only available in the bar area. MCafe at the Marriott serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a special anniversary dinner where the staff were simply amazing and we were treated! We loved sitting outside by the pool for dinner - a slight breeze, undercover and with a local bat or two circling- heavenly! On site at the Marriott is a large gym and Mandara spa - the perfect treat after a day trekking. Or you can just relax and swim in the Balinese style swimming pool (which my husband did). The Marriott shuttle bus (free) meets all flights and is also available to take you to the Gunung Mulu National when required (also free). There is also a small general store a 5-15minutes walk down the road which is reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend doing the Deer Cave and Lang Cave tour. I also did the Mulu Canopy Skywalk which I found hair-raising (like being on a rollercoaster you want to get off but the only way to get off is to finish). Tip: All Mulu National Park fees can be paid by credit card. 30MYR for a 5 day park pass PLUS any tours you do.

We spent 4 nights in Diana homestay. Its about 2km from Mulu National Park entrance- about 20min for walk. The house is big and rooms basic but enough for the jungle experience. Electricity is from 6pm to 6am. We also had case that generator stopped working and then were only flashlights and powerbanks. The small shop is about 500m ahead, but you can also get drinks from Diana with the same price. The river is good to swim! Its refreshing and safe, like jackpot in this climate (we had 81% humidity and 31 deegrees feels like 36 degrees one day). If there is lot if rain, the water level will increase until the house! Definitely goid choice to stay! If you have local sim card, there is also 1-2 points of network.

Benarat Lodge is perfectly located for both business and leisure guests in Miri. The hotel offers a wide range of amenities and perks to ensure you have a great time. Facilities like airport transfer, family room, restaurant, tours, halal restaurant are readily available for you to enjoy. All rooms are designed and decorated to make guests feel right at home, and some rooms come with clothes rack, air conditioning, fan, shower. Recuperate from a full day of sightseeing in the comfort of your room or take advantage of the hotel's recreational facilities, including boats, hiking trails, outdoor pool, garden. Benarat Lodge is an excellent choice from which to explore Miri or to simply relax and rejuvenate.

Pros (+) - Very affordable (family room with 2 beds is around $90+ RM) - Accessible location (you can easily walk to get to stalls and local eateries) Cons (-) - Hotel is really old & outdated - Room is unhygienic (Toilet smells like urine, Sink are clogged) - Poor maintenance on amenities (aircond takes a long while before fully functional) - Missing some basic features (iron, hot drinks, toothbrush etc) Verdict: If you are on a budget or does not plan to stay at the hotel for long periods of time, this hotel would be fine as it is very affordable and has good location if you plan to explore the city by walking. If you are looking for a comfortable stay or plan to stay in the hotel for long hours this hotel is not suitable for you as it has poorly maintained amenities and missing features as well as hygienic issues.

Just walking distance from Miri airport, this hotel is a real gem. The rooms are well-designed and well-lit (most hotel rooms are too dim for me), complete with ceiling fan so we could just open the window and enjoy natural air; and we loved the breakfast place with its high ceilings and good spread. Staff too are very nice; and special kudos to bell-boy/shuttle van driver Charles Ta. He was so nice and helpful (we were carrying a fair amount of baggage + two kids) - even getting us trolleys at the airport and, after all that, he graciously declined my tip saying he was just happy to do his job well. I hope the hotel management is reading this - please do compliment him.

Hello everyone, I took my wife mother and my 1 year old son to Meili for a holiday. The hotel is really beautiful with all kinds of modern facilities. The breakfast was quite good (although the three of us only gave 2 coupons). But the hotel facilities are quite good. The only problem is that there are few halal restaurants nearby. It would be best if renting a car here and parked at the hotel. (We rented for three days), other facilities are good. We prefer the cheap rooms so the rooms don’t have a good view (actually in the middle of the corridor.) Overall the experience was quite good.

Reserved the standard room for my relatives without breakfast for two nights and the feedback from the stay was excellent . The front desk officers were informative and attentive to all their requests during the stay . The facilities of the hotel were comprehensive where they greatly enjoyed the swimming pool with an awesome City and Sea view as the backdrop . The wide array of shopping and dining options offered by the adjoining mall were the extra bonuses ! All in all , a very enjoyable and relaxing staycation!! A big shoutout to the friendly staff of Meritz Hotel ! Keep up the big smile 😊!!!

This hotel is in a drastic need of a facelift. That said it was clean, toiletries were provided. The towel was a bit threadbare. But overall satisfactory for what I paid. There was quite a lot of traffic noise particularly into the night as the youths raced each other around, but this was normally done by midnight.

It all depends at what price you got this hotel for. I got it under 40 dollars so no complaints in general . The hotel is very near to Canada Hill. The hotel has seen better days. Decent room with tv but no channels . No fridge. The Bath room has a washbasin and shower in the bath tub but no tap. There is no Comod shower which is a common thing in Asian hotels usually. Biggest problem is there are no good place to eat nearby . You have to walk at least 800 meters to get a food court . There are 2 convenience store bang opposite the hotel. The hotel staff is very poorly trained they have no idea about the neighbourhood and local sightseeing attractions. Do visit Coco Cabana and Canada Hill for view .

My partner and I love the hotel/apartment reception, you feel like you are at home when you are away from home. The apartments are simple but have kitchenware, microwave facilities and a small fridge. The price of the room is reasonable and acceptable for a serviced apartment. It takes only 5 minutes to drive to Miri City from the apartment/hotel. A shopping mall (Merdeka Mall) is right next to the hotel/apartment, and there are many halal foods in the mall.
