Russell is your host here, a New Orleans native, who welcomes you to this grand old home. This is across from the City Park, where you can read and sip your coffee or evening drink. There are at least 2 great restaurants you can walk to within blocks, and the park is a gem to discover. My wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding anniversary and stayed at the Oakview. Loved everything about the place. Close to everything and very quiet. Comfortable beds. Perfect delicious breakfast. Safe location. Excellent host. Will definately stay there again. Soon, I hope.

A must stay! The neighborhood is very safe and is right across from City Park, which is just gorgeous. The owner is incredibly hospitable. We felt very welcome. He also makes a delicious and filling breakfast! We'd happily stay in his lovely house on our next visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay at Oakview B&B. Proprietor Russell was extremely welcoming, accommodating our early check-in request. Rooms were large , well-appointed, and comfortable. Bathroom spotless. Had to miss breakfast after Russell and his wife knocked themselves out to prepare. Looked wonderful, glad that other guests were there to enjoy. Building is old New Orleans variety of legend. High ceilings, creaky floors, lace curtains, the whole package. Felt at home and safe, just what you want! Can’t wait to return for a longer, more leisurely stay. Can’t wait to ask Russell more about his fascinating history and stories of the B&B, worth making the trip just for that! My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway recently, and we were so pleased with the hospitality of the owners and this property's phenomenal location directly across from City Park. If you are interested in retreating to a quiet, safe area after a day in the city, this is the perfect place for you to stay. I would absolutely book again.

Perfect location, big homemade breakfast. Large room.

We arrived before 9 pm but had trouble locating the place as the building was completely dark with no lighted signs. (What signs exist are small or placed out of the way, not easily seen.) There is no doorbell so we had to bang on the door to be admitted. The "reception area" is the foyer of someone's apartment and rather messy. It was also lit only by a small lamp. We made our way to the 2nd long set of steps in the dark. The areas in the room that can are in immediate view are shiny and clean. However, look behind the curtain (literally) and there is quite a build-up of dust and dirt. The exposed edges of the floor under the bed are also nice and shiny. But lean over a bit and you'll see how dusty it is. This holds true all over the property. If you have allergies, this is not a place you will be comfortable. You are literally walking through someone's living space (including food prep area and exposed foods) as you go in and out. The shower, while it has many nice features, is much too complicated to figure out and has no labels on the numerous handles and switches. Speaking of switches, there are So. Many. Lots of them do nothing. And few of them are placed in relation to what they actually do. And speaking of things there are a lot of - let's not overlook the steps. There are LOTS of them. They are not even, many are shallow and both outdoors and in the railings wobble or are missing pickets. Not a place we can recommend. Also...no breakfast.

Russell is very accommodating and the room was cozy. Very conveniently located close to the trolley system, in a safe neighborhood.
