Our recent experience at The Allison Inn & Spa's bar area left us with mixed feelings. On a Saturday evening at 8:45 pm, we anticipated enjoying some burgers from the "Late Night Menu, 8:00-9:30" as advertised. However, we were disappointed to find that the menu was limited, featuring items like a Late-Night Turkey Sandwich, Chicken Tenders, and Mixed Greens with Chicken, with no option for the Burger we had hoped for. We understand that menus can vary, but we couldn't help but wonder if it would have been overly burdensome to prepare a few hamburgers, especially considering the time and setting. The food we did receive fell short of our expectations for a first-class hotel and restaurant. The Chicken Tenders seemed pre-breaded and lacked the freshness and quality we anticipated. Similarly, the ordinary presentation of the Turkey Sandwich, with untoasted white bread, left us underwhelmed. On a positive note, the $22 gin martini was quite enjoyable. Additionally, we observed changes at Jory that gave us pause. Notably, the absence of Frette linens, the apparent downgrade in the quality of high banquet seating, and the removal of choices like house-filtered still or sparkling water were notable. The once-classy ambiance seems to be shifting, as evidenced by the large TV in the bar area, visible even from the lobby seating. As patrons who have appreciated the high standards and quality of The Allison Inn & Spa in the past, we hope to see a return to the pillars of excellence that defined this establishment.
