Hotel Balaia Mar

We really enjoyed our stay in The Balaia Mar. The staff were execellent. Our room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely .

The Hotel is clean and the food adequate. Our stay was spoiled by an avoidable incident. My wife paid a deposit for two pool towels. On returning them, the receptionist refused to return the payment as apparently it is not procedure to ask for a cash deposit. The 20€ is not really the issue as we were going to use it to tip the restaurant staff. The fact that management chose not to believe her was unfortunate.

We are on our last day at the Balaia Mar and I just needed to write a review to say what an amazing value hotel. We stayed in one of the standard rooms, they have a really good sized patio, nice view, fresh linen every day and a great shower. You also get a kettle and fridge. Security safe. The hotel communal areas and rooms are spotlessly clean. The bathrooms seemed to have been recently renovated. This was a budget break for us, and we used the hotel as a base really to explore from (we only did one pool day) but it exceeded all my expectations. The bar at night was not the busiest, maybe in the summer it would be. We didn’t use it much as we ate up the road or in the old town. Luisa Beach is 5 mins away but I recommend getting an Uber to other beaches if you want more of a beach bar vibe. We had breakfast at the cafe at the top of the hill (turn right from the hotel, 8 mins walk) which did freshly squeezed orange juice. English tea of course lol. In this area also are some grill restaurants, Thai restaurant and a couple of curry houses. There is a spar supermarket opposite the hotel but it’s expensive. Like €4 for teabags?! The pool is perfect, not heated but small enough to be pleasantly warmed by the sun (and this was in April!) sun-beds plentiful and comfortable. The gardens are really lovely, palm trees and pergolas. Breakfast in the hotel is great. Not English sausages but decent bacon, eggs, sausage, as much toast and continental selection as you like. Restaurant staff very pleasant. From the airport this hotel takes 35 mins in a taxi. All friendly and welcoming. Air con absolutely ten out of ten. If you’re thinking of booking I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Receptionist was nice. Hotel rooms smelled, terrible beds, bathrooms not clean and smelled. Would seriously not recommend.

The property was good, large pool not too packed when we stayed in September 2023. WiFi was great, TV was good, nice location, walkable and bus routes next to property. Two complaints, the buffet food was the SAME every day, not a lot of options either. Also, the shower soap was not refilled before our check-in and we ran out by our 3rd day.

The apartment was surprisingly good in comparison to expectations it was extremely spacious and had all the amenities you’d need and was cleaned thoroughly daily, the staff are very friendly and the pool is very clean along with surrounding areas

Room was very large and clean and the staff were very helpful. Area is quiet but accessible to the town centre. Room was cleaned every day. There was a safe and fridge which came in handy especially as there was a supermarket nearby.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days for our wedding anniversary. We arrived at 10pm, we were checked in very quickly with a friendly face. Our accommodation (room only) was a good size, had a kettle, fridge, cups and saucers and glasses. The sun terrace was great, x2 sun loungers and table and chairs, half covered with shade. The room was very clean and tidy only fault I would say is they are not sound proof at all. The swimming pools were well kept, sadly the snack bar by the small pool was never open and the sports bar was hit and miss with its opening hours. The sports bar had a large variety of drinks, large beer for €3, they did pizzas for €12. We had breakfast once during our stay in the main restaurant, €9 for all you can eat buffet, lots of choice, cooked breakfast, cereals, pastries yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee, juices, it was all very nice. The location of the hotel has several restaurants within a walking distance. There is a spar and a pharmacy with a cash machine opposite the hotel. Old Town is about 8 minutes in an uber which cost €6~€8 if not about an hour walk but to walk it was quite hilly. Tuk tuks were very convenient and there was always one available, they were €10. There is a beach about 5-7 minutes walk away, it is only a small beach with a restaurant set back. The walk back to the hotel is rather steep. All in all the hotel was quiet, clean and the staff were all very friendly, the reception staff were very helpful too and we would stay there again.

Perfect location close to restaurants and a 2 minute walk from the beach, it takes around 15 minutes to get to the medina for boat tours and a more lively atmosphere - we took an Uber which cost €8. The hotel itself was clean, spacious and had everything we needed.
