Hotel Lutetia, Paris

Paris|2.32km from Bistro Chez Flo
We had the complete pleasure of staying at this mind boggingly AMAZING hotel over spring break this year, four nights in total. We are a family of four (17 yr old son 14 yr old daughter), and all of us were completely blown away by the level of attention, committment to excellence, beauty of the facilities and location of this incredible place. It truly is the finest hotel we've ever stayed at, with good reason. From the moment we were met at the airport (transport arranged by the hotel) in a comfortable van equipped with every phone charger you could imagine, water bottles and towels for our faces and hands, to the minute we reluctantly checked out and said our good byes, our family felt known, cared for, and completely, 100% spoiled in a ways we could not have dreamed. Everyone from the concierges and guest services team (shout out to the enthusiastic and emminently cheerful Claire!) to the housekeeping and food people who dropped treats and little touches to make us so excited to come back to the room each day...to the waiters at the Brasserie and Bar Josephine (the best cosmo I've ever had, two nights in a row and fantastic live music) we are already dreaming of returning. Many hotels are having a difficult time finding enough staff, let alone people committed to going above and beyond providing excellent service...this hotel somehow has a lock on great individuals in every department. Other highlights: bathrooms cut out of solid marble. I took five minutes one morning trying imagine what it took to fabricate the sinks and bathtub out of solid stone and then get them into all the rooms. Mind blown. Fantastic water pressure from both the shower and bath. Sheets and pillows and beds that allowed all of us to sleep soundly every night. Both children said it was the best night's sleep they'd ever had away from home. Top of the line electronics and room organization...everything is automatic with lights (we didn't touch a switch in four days, I came home and told my husband what a ”drag” it was to have to actually turn my lights on. lol), and air conditioning/heat/curtains are all controlled from handy control wall panels in each room. Small touches in the closets of things you might have forgotten, lots of drawers and space to unpack and stay organized. The pool and spa is breathtaking, make sure to leave time to enjoy it! It truly is a five star hotel in every element imaginable. I cannot recommend Hotel Lutetia any higher. You will not regret it.

I arrived early and was able to get into my room, which was great. This is where the good news stopped. I was told that I was not able to flush the toilet as there was plumbing work beng done in the hotel, but as I was early, I was ok with this. I was told that it would be restored by 3pm, the normal check-in time. I went out, returning to my hotel at 4:20pm to be told it was still not possible to use the toilet. I complained and the lady on the desk phoned her manager, at which point it suddenly became ok to flush it! The room was very cold and the heating didn't seem to be working, so I went downstairs to see if I was doing something wrong. The lady on the desk said, no, probably not, the heating often isn't working - not good enough! They gave me a heater, but...another issue. I opened the bottle of free mineral water in the room to find it had already been opened and was crusty around the lid. Back down to reception to get it swapped for a fresh one. I asked if it was possible to have a late check-out and was told I could stay until 2pm instead of 12 for 30 euros. Again great - until I discovered that the water in my room had been switched off. ANOTHER trip downstairs to get it sorted out - which they did, but...another issue. While it was off, I asked for another bottle of ”mineral” water, which they willingly provided. The lady came out of the kitchen wiping the outside, having clearly filled the bottle. Apparently, the so-called ”mineral water” is from a filter jug/tap - but apparently this is perfectly acceptable because ”it is not from the toilet”. When I went back up to my room, my key card was no longer working. This was the last straw. The hotel is hopeless, and the staff, while willing to rectify mistakes, seem neither surprised not bothered by them and seem to think it is strange that I am. I would never stay here again and strongly recommend that you give this place a very wide berth!

The location is not far from the center of Paris, the transportation is convenient, the room is clean and hygienic, and the service attitude is friendly. It is very suitable for living with friends. I will come back again if I have the opportunity.

Located in a residential area which has pros and cons. Close to Metro access. Many cafes and good food options nearby. Neighborhood felt safe. Some traffic and neighbors / pedestrians being loud. Property needs new towels, and more than just two huge bath sheets that were worn and stained, had to ask for smaller hand towels which were not replaced after use. Need more than two small pillows which were supplied when asked. There should be 2 rolls of toilet paper supplied everyday. Housekeeping left only less than a half roll on some days. Better locations for electrical plugs to charge your phone. They were too close to the floor having to plug under a table / desk. Room was a good size but could hear other guests moving around, talking, and flushing the toilet.
