XXiaojinxiangtuixiuThe hotel's scenery is absolutely breathtaking, truly worth all the travel effort. The outdoor hot spring views are simply magnificent. You'll even spot deer while dining and soaking in the onsen. My only real issue was that I found the Kaiseki cuisine difficult to get used to; it looks beautiful, but if you're not a big fan, you might want to bring your own snacks, especially considering the price. However, dining while watching deer roam in the snowy landscape during blue hour is definitely one of life's great pleasures. I was a bit apprehensive before coming because online reviews for this hotel were mixed, but I can honestly say you *must* visit during the snowy season – it's absolutely worth it.

GGuest UserConvenient to the station, Hemaibashi, Suehirocho. The room was clean and spacious and I was very satisfied. It was my first time staying at Toyoko Inn, but compared to other major business hotel chains, it was the best fit for me.

Ffang001206What I loved most was the lobby, with its floor-to-ceiling windows offering a stunning view of Lake Akan. The room itself was pretty standard and a bit small, but the breakfast and dinner buffets more than made up for it. There were so many choices, including plenty of fresh salmon, shrimp, and other sashimi. The hot springs were also incredibly relaxing. Overall, I was very satisfied.

PPandaolimingThe hotel's location is excellent; it's a two-minute walk straight ahead after turning left from the JR station. There's a bus stop and a sightseeing bus pick-up point right outside the entrance. It's also just over a ten-minute walk to Nusamai Bridge. The hotel breakfast is delicious, and there are complimentary alcoholic beverages and soft drinks on the first floor in the evenings. They also offer free hot springs. The only downside is the questionable cleanliness, which needs improvement.

GGuest UserWe booked this hotel for its proximity to the Kushiro train station and bus station (these were just opposite the hotel) which saved us the walking in snowy conditions. The triple room we booked was surprisingly bigger than I would imagine for a typical Japanese hotel. We tried the hotel breakfast and it was good for value and have a spread of food choices. The staff were friendly and despite of language barrier, we managed to be able to request for assistance. I would like to thank Ryoyo for his help in checking for alternative bus to Sapporo due to train suspension and he further helped to contact our Sapporo hotel to inform that we will arrive later due to unforeseen train suspension. As per other reviews about the attitude of the hotel staff, I personally feel that they are really helpful but might appear rude to foreigners as they are not good at expressing themselves. The hotel has a manga corner and amenities shelf which you can grab special hair amenities and other types of pillows. There is also free washing machine which my husband used it daily to wash his clothes, free onsen and coffee. Overall, this hotel has great amenities and facilities. The famous tourist attractions were within walking distance from the hotel (MOO/ EGG/ Nusamai Bridge about 15-20mins walk).

GGuest UserWe took a tour bus directly to the New Akan Hotel. The hotel is very grand, and although it's a bit old, it's very well-maintained with a European-American style decor. I booked a Japanese-style lake view room in advance, and the size was definitely larger than what was stated in the description, at least 30+ square meters. The indoor and outdoor onsen, all-you-can-eat dining, and service were all excellent. The location is superb, close to both the onsen street and the ice mountain attractions. There are two minor drawbacks: the dinner includes a buffet yakiniku, and the smell can't be dissipated, so the entire public area smells like it... thankfully, the rooms are fine. Also, as many have mentioned, there are a lot of tour groups, all from Taiwan, so the hotel is crowded everywhere you go. You need to plan your meals and onsen visits to avoid peak times. Despite this, the hotel's order is still quite good. The internal shops are not tax-free. If I have the chance to come again, I would still choose this hotel, but I'd try to avoid the times when there are large tour groups, as the environment is quite important when you're on vacation!

The parking lot was spacious and the large public bath was nice, so I made a reservation without hesitation this time. It's just a short walk from the station, so I was able to see the marsh bell on the platform and the beautiful sunset.
The breakfast area was spacious and the morning sun streamed in through the glass windows, making it a great way to start the day. The staff were all very friendly, so I'd definitely like to return.
The view from my room was also great.

GGuest UserThe hotel side is adequate but simple. The restaurant part should be avoided, food basic cheap and the worse of our two weeks in Hokkaido. Staff was unfriendly to say the least. There is a beer box at the entrance of the restaurant, but that is ”outside” . We thought we should take the beer before entering the restaurant, and that got the staff just about scream at us, because beer is sold inside! Breakfast is from 7 to 9 and while we were finishing our breakfast started at 8.30 waitress showed up saying we should be out by 9 as they closed! Very close to Akan crane center but the worse accomodation of hokkaido, to be avoided if you can. All other places we stayed people were most friendly!
