Falkensteiner Boutique Hotel Prague

Old Town Prague|0.5km from Bistro Balbin
We were in Falkenstein Hotel for 3 nights and had a normal double room. First to the positive: Breakfast is really good and in addition to the buffet are served on order fresh things like omelets, Porige & Co. On the buffet there could be a little more vegan choice. Except for a humus and alternative milk there was not much. This does not fit to a modern young hotel. However, you can say that breakfast is fresh, lovely and sufficiently rich. Also the staff at breakfast is very friendly and attentive! However, what we have never experienced is that the buffet is really closed in time and everything is immediately cleared. That is uncomfortable and does not fit to a high-end hotel. Now to the negative aspects: In general, we were not satisfied with our stay. The lobby & bar is modern and stylish. The lifts are obsolete and the fence works more after a motel. The rooms are small (but not bad for us!) However, there also lacks some lovely details that you would expect in a 5-star hotel. The coffee machine is a little old and calcified, too, there is no water cooker but tea accessories which is somewhat questionable. The worst was the service at the lobby and the cleaning forces!! During our stay, we had always been in the lobby to face the same gentleman who appeared unfriendly and unsympathetic. One day after cleaning our room, we stayed without toilet paper and without a single towel! We have drawn attention to this and received a slightly annoying reaction instead of an excuse! The price-performance ratio is unfortunately not true in this hotel and we have made better experiences with 5 and 4 stars hotels in Prague.

Jalta Boutique Hotel

This hotel is good, do not be put off that it is a former Soviet-era built hotel. It isn't shabby and the staff are very nice. The beds are comfortable and they considerately supply lovely, soft pillows, in two sizes so you can get really comfy. Bathrooms are well presented with L'Occitaine soaps & shampoos etc. The only drawback we found in the bedroom was that the bedside electrical sockets were not close to the bed, so it meant alittle inconvenience for us in particular, using a CPAP machine, rather than being universally annoying for everyone. The in-house restaurant, serving sushi-styled dishes is also good albeit expensive. Do not be talked into eating too much though, as we were and then landed a £100/head bill - but that was our fault for being probably too greedy after a long day's travelling. It's well situated in Wenceslas Square and you will find it more convenient than its position on a map may suggest. The Old Town is easily walked into. The only two things we were disappointed by were a) the breakfast area was, we think, because it was Feb and the hotel operating at half capacity, was effectively in their nightclub area. It's rather gloomy with the wrong vibe for your morning breakfast, even the though th ebreakfast itself is generous and with a wide range of choices. (They actually have a lovely conference cum dining area we glimpsed on the first floor but I suspect that is used when occupancy is fuller); b) the fascinating Fall Out Shelter located in the hotel basement tour was slightly spoilt by the poor student whose English wasn't quite up to par, so we found it hard to follow his explanations. It's still worth a look though, and see for yourself Orwell's '1984' novel sort of made real. Overall a good choice for a short break.

Fantastic location. Between museum and IP pavlova tram/train stops. Great interior, beautiful and grand in communal areas. Rooms nicely decorated. W Beds a little hard. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. Downside to rooms, lack of plug sockets - Kettle has a short lead and difficult to find where to plug in. Not enough bed pillows. That said, we did not ask reception for more. They did not replenish the tea/coffee during stay. Only the milks. We could only find one plug socket. We found a further two sockets behind the bedside cabinets. We plugged our charger in only for this to burn out one night and the electricity went out and due to the new evening receptionist she was unable to turn it back on until she was relived in the morning. The receptionist though was ever so helpful and tried her best to help. We also received an apology in the morning. I have a bad back and found that there was no where to sit in the room with back support only a backless stool and ottoman. All that said we enjoyed our stay. Was very happy with our choice of hotel. We did not book breakfast and there’s lots of choice for breakfast towards IP pavalova. The Deminka restaurant that is shown in the hotel as the lounge bar - apparently is not connected to the hotel (ownership different) but would recommend. Good food reasonably priced and staff are very friendly and helpful. Also popular with locals too which is a good sign and has great history attached to the restaurant.

Nice hotel eith nice atmosphere. Very helpful staff and everything very friendly and relaxed. Two minor negative things I have to mention that did not have any affect on our stay. The wifi signal is very poor, it drops out a lot. The sensor light in the rooms inner corridor can be annoying, especially the amount of light it gives when one has to go to the bathroom during night. But when you have figured out how to fool the sensor it might not wake up the light sensitive patner. The breakfast buffet is very good and you can ask the person working in the breakfast room for espresso, capuccino or other varieties of fancy coffee if you like. This hotel is very close to Wenceslas square where you'll find the national museum, lots of shops and restaurants, lots of entertainment and transportations to other places in the city. Great hotel, great location and the price very reasonable. I highly recommend it.

Very good location of the hotel! It is quite central and everything can be accessed by walking. Also plenty of restaurants in the surrounding areas. The hotel in itself is nice enough, comfy beds and the kitchen helps when you don’t want to go eat outside or have longer stays. Note that there is no air con on the rooms (or at least ours) so we stayed the window opened when we could during the day. The hotel staff is really helpful and accommodating! We didn’t prebook the parking but we managed to have a spot anyways! The hotel can offer breakfast but it is in a different location (we haven’t tried it): there is a costa coffee place right across the street, which is also convenient. Definitely a recommend when you are a tourist and want to do visit everything!

Good hotel in a great location at the top of Wenceslas Square. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room spacious with a great view of the museum. This fell short of full marks in two areas. Firstly, the room was very warm with no AC in March. This meant sleeping with the window open which was very noisy. Secondly, the bar was on open for a very limited period of time and was shut at 2100 if not before.

This hostel is the hotel with the best atmosphere I have stayed in Europe these few days. The front desk is very friendly and everyone who comes in will greet me. The bathroom and toilet here are independent. They are not in the room. The facilities are great. There are plugs, small lights and curtains at the head of the bed. Even if a girl lives alone, it will not be awkward, because there is enough privacy.

The hotel is elegant and decadent. Conveniently situated and a short distance to the city main shopping high street and amenities. The bedroom was tasteful, spacious and quiet. Staff are attentive and friendly that created that level of ambience. Special gratitude to the concierge gentleman and the young waitress at breakfast. Breakfast buffet and in my opinion provided a good selection for our requirements. It's a shame that the hotel restaurant was not opened in the evening as we would of loved to have dined in it for one of our evening stays. However, we did enjoy our stay there. The only negative really was that there was no coffee/tea making facilities in our room. I would of expected this as a standard particularly in a 5 star hotel. That said, we would recommend the hotel. It's beautiful, ideally situated, and like I said, the staff were friendly.
