San Michele Boutique Hotel ★★★★

"This is a delightful boutique hotel, set in the beautiful, lively harbour at Corricella. It was our first visit to Procida; we were drawn by the use of the island as a filming location in "Il Postino" and "The Talented Mr Ripley". If anything, it was even better than we had anticipated. The hotel is set on several levels, the main entrance being on the steep road which descends to the harbour. The rooms are set on terraces of varying sizes, and are fairly simply furnished, extremely comfortable and well-equipped. We very much enjoyed our breakfasts and an evening meal at the hotel's restaurant "Il Pescatore". Service was friendly and helpful, though the reception desk is not always occupied. Corricella is stunning - still a fishing village, with plenty of local inhabitants to offset the increasing numbers of visitors. We enjoyed walking the steep streets, ate well at harbour side restaurants and spent a happy hour or two circumnavigating the island by boat. This is a great place. Strongly recommended!"

"Hotel located in Chiaiolella! Small but clean rooms. Towels changed every two days. Air conditioning and a clothesline outside the room are very welcome. Breakfast could be improved in quality! The welcome is minimal; perhaps a little more warmth would be nice."

"Beautifully appointed and elegant. You will love staying here, it is a luxurious room with everything you could want. Beautiful bathroom and computable bed. The host is accomodating and welcoming. He assists you on arrival and shared ideas about restaurants, beaches and trips. He carefully lays out a generous breakfast and includes your tastes. The room is serviced daily and the A/C is effective to ensure a comfortable nights rest. We went to three great beaches and walked the streets of this beautiful fishing village. Highly recommend! ⭐️"

"Most unhelpful and unwelcoming hotel staff since 40 years of travelling through Italy. Every question for information was met with a flat rejection. Not one friendly word or gesture. Breakfast was tedious. It is a shame since the rooms, garden and pool are impeccable. This could be a fine hotel."

"I was disappointed with this hotel from arrival till we left (two nights earlier than booked for). We arrived late due to missing a ferry and were told we could check in, in the morning. When we went to the desk there was no one there, we went to breakfast and mentioned we hadn’t checked in and was told it was breakfast time. We tried again after breakfast and before going out with no luck. Once we did check in we were finally given details - WiFi code, door code etc. After we checked in we found out there was a private party in the pool area which made in unusable up till 6pm - we were not informed of such event when we checked in 10 minutes earlier. Two days later after a long day visiting Pompei we wanted a quiet dinner and early night only to get back to find there was another private party with a DJ that went on till midnight - again we were not notified which meant we couldn’t use the restaurant or have an early night due to very loud music. At this point we booked a new hotel (at an additional £200 cost to ourselves) to try and salvage some of the holiday that had been less than satisfying. When we checked out the next morning the owner did not enquire why we were leaving, ask if we’d enjoyed our stay or said anything that would lead you to think they cared. Such a massive let down as all the reviews looked good, and the hotel is lovely…..unfortunately the management let the hotel down. I would not recommend staying here."
