STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! I had booked a room through OYO rooms at Hotel Shivsai Palace for one of my associates. We had had a long tiring day and had just arrived in Pune at night. When we reached the hotel at 11:30 PM, we were denied entry to the hotel by the ***ager in charge. To quote him, he told us that “agar OYO se booking kiya hai, toh OYO se Baath karo, hum se nahin.” At this point, we tried checking into two other hotels, which were already booked out due to the long weekend. Exhausted and on a tight budget, we spent the night in the car to figure out what to do next. The following day, I called the hotel once again. This time, I spoke to the owner, Mr. Umesh. He told me that it was not his fault that I booked through OYO, despite HIS hotel being listed on OYO. He cursed me, told me not to advise him how to treat customers, told me that he has 4 hotels in Pune and doesn’t need to hear a customers feedback on how to run a hotel. He hung up on me. I called him again, he shouted at me and hung up the phone again. An owner of 4 hotels who doesn’t know the first thing about decency or customer service?! Never in India have I faced someone this rude and never in the hospitality industry has an owner been this disrespectful, unprovoked. I am not sure about what the issues were between OYO and the hotel, but keeping a customer stranded in the middle of the night, one who has already made the payment to you (am owner of 4 hotels) is truly unprofessional. Stay here at your own risk, there are tons of hotels in the area that will treat you with more dignity and respect than this.
