Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

Downtown San Diego San Diego|0.12km from Cine Cafe
The reason for the 2 stars is because the Staff was incredible. They were all very courteous, helpful, and amazing. That is about all that was great about this once nostalgic great hotel. The Room - we upgraded to a suite and thought it would be amazing. The layout was great, but the interior is needing some help. We had water damage in the ceiling that was noticeable, the vanity had water damage and the wood was warping, cracked, and run down. The carpet looks like the same carpet from when we stayed 10 years ago and was dirty. The bed was not comfortable at all. The Pool - great layout and setup, I just wish they had let us know when booking about all of the extra expenses that were needed to enter the pool on Saturday only. You need a ticket to get in the pool. You then are not able to go back to your room and come back to the pool unless you pay another entrance fee. Don't think about using a couch or daybed near the pool, those run from $500-$800 for the day. You get to sit at the dirty, bird dropping couches over by the fire pits no where near the pool. They did make the atmosphere fun with a DJ, corn hole, taco bar etc., and they let quite a few people that aren't staying at the hotel in, but they do not manage paying hotel guests very well in this environment. They need to come up with a better system. I'll end on a positive note, the Staff was amazing. All areas of the staff. Valet, Bellman, Concierge, Front Desk, Pool Bar, etc. Everyone we encountered was polite, kind, and really helpful. That is one thing they did right in training their team. Overall, I wish the stay had been similar to our visit 10 years ago. The hotel needs some updating and needs to update how they treat hotel guests on a Saturday with their other revenue stream for the pool.

San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

Downtown San Diego San Diego|0.18km from Cine Cafe
The hotel and surroundings are nice. It’s located in a busy street with a modern decor. However the receptionist’s attitude is very questionable. I am a customer from China and a bonvoy member. Marriott has always been my go-to hotel of choice from China to Paris to Singapore. I booked the hotel thru Expedia . I wasn’t feeling so well physically and after a long journey I just want to have a good rest in my “known” hotel of choice. First I was waiting properly in the line and when it was my turn I gave my passport to the receptionist Ara.B. She rudely told me that there’s no reservation under your name, and while I was checking my confirmation email on the side panicking (not blocking the queue), she still asks me to move further away. from that moment I sensed a little bit of hostility towards me (I didn’t know if it was my race or my passport). I made the booking early today with my buddy’s computer so I thought I might book it under his name or had the wrong booking date. I called my buddy when it is already passed midnight and I approached the receptionist meanwhile Ara.B and asked her if the booking name was my buddy Edison or my booking can be some other day. She immediately condescendingly gazed upon me and rudely said said if you booked wrong day you can only contact Expedia (bear that in mind) they can not do anything for me and if it was under another person’s name they couldn’t release that information to a stranger and you won’t be able to check in. It turns out I found it on my phone that my booking was for another day. From the head start I sensed that this lady doesn’t really want me to stay there. She told me my only option is to book it at a walk-in rate which is almost twice as much the rate on Expedia. As I was on the side tried to look for my own hotel. She told me that no hotel takes later than midnight booking. That is so not true because there are many sites that allow you the option to book from now til the same day after midnight. She came around claiming she was helping and me told me that if you go to another hotel you probably just gonna get rejected like here. That she knows the hotels in San Diego well. I then started to question her I had my experience on booking at this hour and if I did have a booking for a different day while did she tell me you don’t have no booking and told me to step aside. Right after these two questions which I asked politely she said I am violating her and asked to leave the property otherwise she’s going to call the security on me 🤨 my defends to her I only expressed my prospective there was no other customers waiting in line no more and I am a incoming customer I shouldn’t be treated and throw out like that. Then she started prevaricating saying that my phone was too far away nobody can see your booking and your booking won’t come through because it’s two weeks away blah blah blah basically to get rid of me of the property . On the way of my kicking-out I told her I won’t cancel my b

San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina

Downtown San Diego
A pretty large resort, but with personal attention by the staff. Ground were well appointed. The rooms were very well appointed, beds comfortable, people serving us were pleasant. Would never hesitate to recommend the place. Can't wait to go back. My only complaints as follows - the one bartender at the Tequila Bar definitely wasn't into serving people with a smile. I asked him what beer he had available and he said ”some domestics and some imports”, turned and walked away. That was a turnoff. The other people who served us over the 3 nights were all fine, but not him. Also, we were on the 15th floor, yet surprisingly we could hear conversations down in the pool area, and especially the music playing. I found that as being a little odd. That is the only reason for dropping it down from 5 stars.
Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center

Admittedly, we selected this hotel because it was the best price in the area and was very close to Petco Park. Since we were in San Diego to attend a game, it was an easy decision. Our room was fine but fairly small. The bathroom was quite large and very nice. (I would have settled for a slightly smaller bathroom with larger room.) Our friends' room was even smaller. The rooftop bar had a great view and was very nicely set up. The one big negative I had....It was advertised online and in the elevator that the Bistro offered drinks and food throughout the day. The reality was that, due to limited staffing, it was closed. Complimentary coffee was available there....if you were lucky enough to find it. We were later told to just wave down the front desk person to get more coffee. I understand that, due to Covid, places are short staffed. I let them know that they need to change their web site since we were expecting to find a place within the hotel to grab coffee and snacks or a few bites. Otherwise, we were able to walk to so much in the area.

The hotel is located in the city center. In the gas lamp block, there are many red men and women every day. There are very few Chinese people. Many foreigners should come to vacation. After paying for Ctrip, they will have to pay the resort fee after check-in, which is about 40 dollars a night. But the other us grant, which is relatively resident, has a price/performance ratio and will not stay in this hotel. As a hotel, professionalism is a little lacking. The facilities are just like American hotels. Basically, all of them need to be equipped and there is no hot water bottle.
Horton Grand Hotel

Downtown San Diego
Horton is a very old hotel with a beautiful lobby, elegant blue and white design, and a string of lights on the trees in the yard. Stairs and elevators are old and new, and they are well protected. We booked two nights with two twin rooms with fireplaces, on the second floor, two squatting rooms but the layout was different. The room facilities and services are to be spit. The leaks in the bathtubs of our two rooms have bluish spots. The water in one room sink is only hot and the hot water is very hot. The fireplace in both rooms is not easy to use. One of them is completely can not open. Some of us have a fever, call the front desk 3 times and wait an hour to get a blanket. It is worth mentioning that most of the hotels in the West are very thin, the pillows are very high, and Horton only has blankets. The service staff did not smile and was not enthusiastic, and could not match the services of other hotels in our time. Regarding parking, the hotel does not have free parking and a one-way street. Paid parking is expensive, we parked in a nearby public car park, there are many homes around, we found the cheapest is $15 a day, opposite the cvs pharmacy. Regarding dining, the hotel does not include breakfast, and the breakfast is not cheap. Starbucks is on the corner of the street. It is about 5 minutes drive from the famous cafe 21. You can eat brunch.

This is my first time trying a youth hostel. It is quite satisfactory and tidier than domestic university dormitories. The service staff are enthusiastic. Everywhere in the city center, transportation is convenient. I met a young man from the Netherlands🇳🇱 by chance and had a great conversation!
