Hotel du Rempart

We were very disappointed with this hotel overall. Superb location with fabulous views over vineyards but the interior was poor. The reception wasn't welcoming with the manager seeming to be over casual and not asking to see our Covid passports. We found our own way to our room along a dingy stairwell with worn, stained carpets. The room was small and badly decorated with dark coloured plastic wallpaper (which looked like mock wood); horrible flowered curtains and hideous bile-green net curtains. It hadn't been thoroughly cleaned and there was a lump of used chewing gum on one of the bedside tables. The beds and bedding were OK. The the worst thing was the noise and disturbance during the night. We went to bed around 10pm, tired after an early start and an afternoon of cycling but were woken up around midnight with noise from the adjoining night club. This noise was the constant 'boom boom' noise of music plus a lot of shouting from the terrace outside our bedroom window. The noise continued until 4 am with the club shutting at 3 but people shouting outside and some returning to the hotel, clomping up the stairs and slamming doors. We eventually got back to sleep for a few hours until it was time to get up and prepare for a long bike ride. A good breakfast was appreciated but it didn't make up for a terrible night and lack of sleep.
