Sanibel Inn

This is our 8th year coming to Sanibel and our 8th stay at the Sanibel Inn. The amenities - bikes, paddle boards, kayaks and most importantly, the chairs, towels and umbrellas - consistently make it worth returning to and we don't even consider going elsewhere. Largely, the staff are wonderful and it's nice to see the same faces year after year. It is obvious that the resort upgrades are beginning to occur in the rooms (noticeable new sliding glass doors!) and that is also nice to see as it is time they start seeing some improvement! The restaurant is good for breakfast and dinner and the quality of the Island Time bar's food is really great and was an afternoon favorite for us! That said, I do have a few critiques: 1. Related to staff, specifically the beach crew, Tyrone, Jorge and another gentleman that no longer works there were fantastic. They truly work their tails off. The other crew - which seemed to work Sunday and Friday - were miserable. Again, the three mentioned were great however this was a stark contrast to the entire crew from last year who were collectively so amazing that we bought them all lunch before leaving the resort. Additionally, there was a female server at Island Time who was also unbelievably miserable and downright insulting to us (I do not recall her name but it was not Serenity or the bartender. She had short, dark hair.) at lunch one afternoon and deterred us from returning even for drinks that day. 2. A new policy this year was that you only got one beach umbrella per 2 chairs. We need 3 chairs but always request 2 umbrellas to shade our daughter when she needs a break from the sun. I understand the reasoning behind this new policy but it is disappointing since it isn't always the most accommodating to the guests. Additionally, I don't see why it was necessary during our stay as there were still plenty of open chairs, etc. so demand should not have been an issue. 3. The rooms truly need some TLC. As I mentioned, it is nice to see upgrades beginning to happen however, in general, they are still in rough shape. Specifically, the carpets feel grimy, the AC units flood the porches and hooks on the porches or in the bathrooms would be immensely helpful for drying towels and bathing suits. We spend the whole week rotating clothes and towels between the outside chairs and the shower rod. This year we even resorted to hanging them from the tops of the closet doors. More places to hang these items would be such a simple upgrade but truly so helpful to the traveler. I can't stress enough how nice it would be to see some major upgrades occur in the guest rooms. 4. Housekeeping was ”fine” though no one seemed to notice that A) we had multiple of the same toiletries and none of others. Also, we received an already opened and half-used bottle of shampoo mid-week. We chose not to use that item and B) the coffee provided did not work in the machine in the room. We had coffee grind packs but the cusinart machine needed pods of so

This hotel was everything!! It’s located right off the beach. I went with my mom and my two daughters. We stayed in the two bedroom suite. My mom had a bedroom and bathroom to herself which was perfect! The rooms are very well insulated which I definitely appreciated. My mom snores very loudly and I didn’t hear a thing even with only her bedroom door closed and ours opened. Even though it is a beach front property, everything was very clean. It was great that we could use the kayaks and paddle boards on sites as well as the beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels. We stayed for 4 nights and never had any issues parking. Breakfast was really good too! And I liked that I could just text the front desk for more towels or with any questions. My only complaint is the living room air conditioner went out quite a bit the 2nd and 3rd day. Maintenance came and tried to repair but it went out again shortly after. Honestly, I’m just glad it wasn’t the bedroom air conditioning units! I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back!

There is nothing wrong with it except that it is expensive, but the lack of breakfast is a drawback.
