The hotel is expensive, but the room is small, has no bathtub, and has no sea view. Most of the money is spent on the location and exquisite decoration. Hotel parking also costs money, and none of the services are provided for free, so a hotel that costs 7,700 to 8,000 or 8,000 per night is really not cost-effective. Of course, it also has a sense of history and design. It is true that many rich people live there, but if you want to truly enjoy the feeling of being rich, you'd better book a room for more than 10,000 yuan a night, otherwise you will regret throwing money away like me. Inside. Don't say that I am poor and have not seen the world. I moved out and lived in downtown Santa Barbara, LA and other places. There is no harm in not comparing. I can only say that you can stay here if you don’t mind the money. After all, it’s a luxury hotel and you won’t feel uncomfortable. But your little money can’t buy you elegance. Just don’t be fooled by Xiaohongshu’s sales like me.

This is a beautiful property and staff were very friendly. Check in was great and and the room was ready upon arrival. The decor is fabulous and the bathroom and bed a dream! Room service was quick, hot and delicious! The only negative is the lack of any stores in the area so come stocked if you want cheaper options than those provided in the mini bar. There are a million restaurants in and around the hotel so you will not lack dining options.

Beautiful property but somewhat over-priced considering how difficult it was to find ice, coffee, and get room temperature right. It’s like Santa Barbara: expensive doesn’t automatically get you great value!

Beautiful, spacious and clean room. Hotel location is perfect -- a block to the beach and great restaurants and bars within feet of the hotel plus, plenty more to choose from by simply walking up State Street. The Goat Tree restaurant which is part of the hotel was excellent.

Lovely hotel and lounge , nice staff , The restaurant Blackbird needs to update its menu, if it is Marrocan fusion then make it so.

This property is advertised as 5 star and charges prices to match. Our experience was average at best. We are well traveled. The customer service was lacking and while friendly, did not feel professional. Too laid back and unattentive. We stayed in the main building and so had to walk across State street to use the pool. The pool and hot tub area were littered with trash and not picked up regularly. There was a strong sewage smell our entire stay, which may be out of their control, but certainly is not disclosed. Delayed response (the next day) in cleaning up pool area after we brought it to their attention. When we booked, we had messaged with staff who had planned a special surprise for my spouse in our room upon check-in. They forgot this and so we had to call down for it. There was no info given on how to procure filtered water and ice. No water bottles were in our room upon check-in. We received a different room than what we booked online. No one greeted us as we entered or exited the hotel, or asked how our stay was going and if we needed anything. In-room dining closes at 8pm and their restaurants have limited hours other than the Goat tree. The only positive for us was the proximity to the Funk Zone. We would not stay here again.

The staff gave you 0 information on the property when you checked in for amenities etc.. Stay at the Harbor View Inn across the street but actually as close to the beach as you can get for 1/3 the cost instead. Hopefully the 4 Seasons will reopen. That beach has all of the best restaurants.

Beautiful hotel but not worth the 800 dollar a night price tag. The pool is tiny and no breakfast included in the price tag. I think it’s a bit too much for a two queen room.

We had the very BEST room and the area was perfect for a long relaxing weekend. Furnishings were high end and sleek. Super comfortable bedding and just gorgeous architecture and views of the ocean. Loved it!!!

Overall we loved this hotel- we only had one experience not so favorable-my husband purchased several post cards, hopeful to mail them to a few family members-we went to the front desk to see if there were any stamps that we could purchase- a very young female reception desk attendee told us that they could mail the postcards, but did not offer to help us find stamps. We ended up finding out from a staff member at Santa Barbara Winery that the local visitor centers sell stamps. It would have taken so little effort for the female reception to offer this service to us- otherwise all was great- the little extra service would have really impressed us-

We loved the look and decor of this hotel. The staff was very responsive and friendly too. We liked the courtyard area to relax and people watch and visit with our friends and family who met us at the hotel!

We love Hotel Californian but this time we found our room to be small for the price and very noisy. (next to pool & parties & receptions on our roof top above our room.) A little disappointed this time around.

Lovely, contemporary boutique hotel in the most convenient area, close to the beach and to the Funk zone
